IMPL dolls Star, Model and Idol Discussion thread Part 8

Dec 8, 2015

    1. @Lelm Thank you for sharing the images! She's rocking Iplehouse's Aqua Blue Dress.

      • x 1
    2. She looks great! The fit on that dress is beautiful. It really works well with that blonde wig!

      • x 1
    3. @Lelm wow your Azaela make me speachless!

    4. @Lelm she is gorgeous!

      • x 1
    5. Thanks so much for checking out my pics and for the comments. I'm a nervous photographer so it's really made my day! Azalea is an elegant girl for sure.

    6. Precisely why Azalea is on my I-would-eat-cereal-for-a-month-just-to-order-you list, haha. I was pretty much fixated on IH's Stella before I came across her face sculpt.

    7. I finally finished Maliks new historic shirt and it suits him (somehow he looks less grumpy as in the white longsleeve) ~ Now he only need hi doublet and the project is done

    8. Hah hah! Riiight? I LOOOOVE that sculpt!

@Uminari- wow! Malik looks great in purple! What a lovely and serene color!

      • x 1
    9. @Uminari Malik looks wonderful in that color!

    10. @Lelm your Azalea is lovely! That dress looks really great on her.

That's an amazing shirt, @Uminari! Lilac certainly seems to be Malik's colour. He looks a little bit shy in that picture for some reason, but he is as handsome as ever. :aheartbea

This is what I've been working on for Zera. Excuse the yarn ends...I still have to work those in. This set is also going to have a little handbag and a headband. It's a worsted-weight yarn, Red Heart Gumdrop, and the colourway is "Grape" for anyone who's interested. I just got my hands on some sock weight yarn that's black with silver metallic thread woven through it, so when I'm done making my scarf with that, Zera might get something made with it as well, depending on how much I have left over.
Zera also wanted to show everyone her new shoes that match her outfit. :)

    11. Sapphire I love those colors--and the shoes are tdf! And they look like..flats! <3

    12. @SapphireStargazer Such a clean job! Nice choice of colors too, it's so gentle on the eyes. :D I never got to master knitting. :<

    13. Those colors just glow on her! Fabulous job! I like those shoes too! Hmmm....

    14. Thank you for the comments on Zera's outfit, everybody!

@fishcake, the shoes are more or less flat. They do have a slight heel, but she wears them with her flat feet on, and can stand up in them with no problems. Zera has way too many shoes haha.... In case you or @chalyss (or anyone else) happen to be interested, I got them from Pink Fantasy on eBay

@AntarelNefertili - thanks! The colours are all together on the same skein, and I totally fell in love with it the minute I saw it at the fabric store. I'm a bit obsessed with variegated yarns tbh. ;) The other outfit I'm working on for Zera is made with this same type of yarn but a different colourway. That one is aqua with purple, hot pink and bright yellow variegation. It took me a long time to master knitting, but it seems easy once you get going. One skill I would like to learn is crochet. I haven't yet been able to master that.

Finally discovered something that Sini doesn't look awkward or weird in. Yeah, it's a bathing suit...but at least she's sort of dressed now lol. I think it's fair to say Tyler approves. ;)

    15. @Avnia it is still a wonderful suit..could you just slit the sides and put leggings/tights under it? I love the shaping of the bodice!

    16. @Avnia, that is lovely!! And completely salvagable! Maybe it would like a skirt added or some side ruching could shorten it up? I love it!!!

    17. @Avnia - that's gorgeous fabric and I love the shaping. I don't know much about sewing, I'm afraid, so I can't offer any constructive suggestions.

Question for those who have their Star / Idol women strung in two parts. How in the heck do you make them stand up? I'm about ready go nuts with how unstable Sini is. Her legs aren't strung loosely enough for her hips to "fall" out of the sockets, so that's not the problem. I'm off for the holiday tomorrow, so I may suede her if I'm feeling ambitious.

    18. Hmmm.... possibly thicker strings? Or thinner? On my Idol, Chalyss, I think I have her torso strung with 3mm, possibly 4mm. Maybe tighten the top one? I have no problems making her stand, so not sure. Hot glue sueding is a good idea tho!

    19. @SapphireStargazer Ah yes, those ombre-looking yarns! They're awesome in pastels. ^_^ The closest thing I could do to crochet or knitting is making friendship bracelets. Heh, maybe I could turn them into doll hippie belts now or something, perhaps? XD

@Avnia I couldn't help but think "Wonder Woman" when I saw the shape. I agree with @chalyss , some tights or leggings will help save it. It's too good to be discarded! :D

    20. ! Impldoll have a new facebook event !
This time you can get an Azaela or Plaice head for 35 $ or one dream art doll for 150 $ blank (you can ad wig, blushing usw. for some more money)

:whee: I email them now and getting Azaela. Plaice would be cool too but the character I thought he could be (I waited only for some good owner pics.... which never crossed my path) is now shelled with my elf!Dia and I do not want a 3rd rolling Impldoll head

    21. Thank for the news. Luckily, I am not tempted by these two. Nicolas though would have killed me. Has anybody a Nic on the way? Or at home? I would so love to see a pic of this handsome man.

    22. @MaryamDN has a Nic head! She has pics around here somewhere... and check flickr and instagram. He is awesome!

    23. Also loving the Nicolas head, here. I keep trying to find a story excuse to have him in my collection, but so far haven't found one. I keep hoping they make more sculpts to the Star body.

Here's my Tony. I keep on trying different eyes on him, but these have stuck the longest.

    24. @ronnie92: Your Tony looks so great with these eyes.

Originally, I thought I was done with adding more dolls to my crew, just getting bodies for my rolling heads and that's it. Then Nicolas came along...he told me his name, and what he has to do with my Favourite Avengers. So...no way out, he has to come home now.

    25. HOLY CREPE, I'm so happy now that my CC problems caused me to delay getting Azalea. It's like a sign from heaven, lol.

    26. @MaryamDN , you know what? You've just 'sold' me the Nic sculpt. I cannot believe how good it is. Thanks for the video. I've really got to get down to modify a coat rail to receive all the Impldoll heads I am planning to buy.

    27. Thank you so much, @MaryamDN. Now I need him even more. He looks so severe, I just love him (sorry for fangirling here so much).

@Lilla: Just let him in, you will not be disappointed!

    28. :) you're welcome to fangirl as much as you like! he is endlessly addictive! i NEED more like him!!! his intensity and realism has made him one of my most prized dolls! i absolutely cannot wait to give him a faceup! i have some more work to get through. if i don't find time before the end of june, he'll have to wait till late september or October :'( along with all the blank heads
^_^ i guarantee you wont regret him, he is so incredible! i mean he's already one of my favorites and he's not even painted yet!
as for storing doll heads....<____< he's one of mine. just a box with separators. i made these but you can use those boxes they use for storing glad cups if you can find them.i roll some tissue paper into a doughnut shape and place it at the bottom of each cell then put the heads in klenex and place them in there. not fancy but very safe.

    29. @MaryamDN - Wow, the temptation to get a Nic is growing. Loving every pic you post of him~

    30. @MaryamDN - Oh, wow. Nic looks even nicer blank somehow! I have no character for him but I love that head! Also, your floating head set up is quite lovely! I just keep mine in the boxes they came in until I manage to procure bodies for them.

    31. @MaryamDN what a clever way to store floating heads! I only have 2 floating heads, so I keep mine in small gift boxes from the dollar store, but for someone who has multiple floating heads, that's a great DIY head storage box. :)

@ronnie92 your Tony is absolutely gorgeous! :aheartbea

    32. @SapphireStargazer i may have a floating head addiction <_____< like...chronically!
@BlitheFool as much as impldoll's faceups have improved dramatically as of late, i do think the blank head has a lot of potential for even better looks. i can't really decide on a doll unless i see it blank. i love love loooove nic's blank face.
i have very limited space :P so only the heads that had actual boxes (like dollshe heads) are in their own boxes, everyone else either had flimsy boxes (switch) or was better off this way :P plus with the number of heads i have, boxes would build up quickly and space is a serious issue :P
      @PineRain doooo it ^__________^ he's awesome!

      • x 1
    33. @MaryamDN I see your point regarding the raw beauty of unpainted heads. :) Sometimes default makeups/wigs don't do a doll's head justice, and may even deter potential customers. :o

    34. @MaryamDN there's nothing wrong with that! It saves space if there are multiple heads who can share bodies, right?

@AntarelNefertili I definitely agree with you as well. One of my pet peeves about companies is that they don't show pictures of blank heads on a consistent basis (if they do it at all). Even though a lot of companies have nice default faceups, I'm often deterred by them because either the faceup is so wildly different from what I personally would prefer or the faceup obscures the true structure of the face so much that it's hard to see their potential beyond the company faceup artist's vision for them. IMPL has been doing pretty good lately with putting pictures of heads without wigs, at least, but I wish they would do at least one blank head picture for every sculpt.

Azalea, for instance, is a sculpt I never would have bought if I hadn't seen a blank one. I could not see her potential through the LE makeup options.

Here's my Azalea (with bonus nYID Oscar). Sini is...rather possessive, not that Tyler seems to mind very much.. ;)

    35. @SapphireStargazer sini is so beautiful! Azalea is a gorgeous sculpt, and that colour is so beautiful

    36. Regarding the blank heads: I wholeheartedly agree with that. I do not know if I had fallen so hard in love with Nic if I had not seen his face still in sculpting stage on DoA long before he was originally released. At that point, I knew I had to get him...and waited. When he showed up with his rather...strange sales pictures (they really have to work on those fantasy parts, they look funny), I asked for a blank picture. And got it, as you all know. Though I still don't understand why they cannot put one blank full front and one profile picture on their sales pages, at least for their unlimited sculpts.

@SapphireStargazer : Your Sini is so very beautiful. And Tyler's little smirk says a lot.

      • x 1
    37. @Ipledreamer they used to do that with all their dolls O___o not sure why they gave up putting up blank pictures! i admire their willingness to step outside the box....like right out into space <.< especially with those chest pieces :P but good things do come from their explorations.
@SapphireStargazer oh yes! i certainly dont have the funds or the space to give everyone a body :P so they share. Sini is so unique lovely!
@AntarelNefertili :p especially with a company like impl that like the more flamboyant (if that's the right word?) looks :P

      • x 2
    38. @MaryamDN: You are right, that's why I love Impldoll so much, too.

    39. Thanks @Chameleon !

@Ipledreamer that's really good to know that they'll provide blank pictures when people ask for them, although I do agree with you that it'd just be easier for them to put blank pictures on sales pages to begin with. I would like to ask them for a blank picture of Sophia. hmm... maybe I should send an email.
Thanks for the compliment for Sini! hehe that little smirk is a very versatile expression. It's one of the things I love about the Oscar sculpt. In the right setting with the right pose, it can be a gentle smile, or it can just be a look of smug self-satisfaction like in this shot. ;) I can just imagine him saying, "Yeah, I'm with her."

@MaryamDN - thanks! And body-sharing is a good space-saving (not to mention money saving) idea. :)

    40. @MaryamDN: I just couldn't stop staring at Nic. You have given me a new idea. He will change from angel to Phoenix. He will be the opposite and other half (kind of Ying and Yang) to my Mzzen, the Ice Dragon. I do not think brothers, but dependant on each other. Maybe there will be not much love or friendship. But we shall see...anyways, as Mzzen is already rather impatiently waiting, he will be the first to be transformed.

    41. ^_^ i think a super natural being suits him very well. mine is lycan. in my story there are several types of shape and shape shifters and were-creatures and with in the werewolves there are several different races which vary greatly. my nic, whom i've names Diego, is a lycan that shifts to a rather large wolf. a bit larger than the twilight wolves if you will. where as the other 2 behind him (in the pic i sent earlier) shift to smaller wolves (about the same size as the twilight ones). having tries some yellow/ gold eyes i think Nic will make a lovely fiery beast. he certainly has the intensity for it. i can't wait to see some more nics out there. myself and another friend in russia are the only 2 i know of that have one so far. if i had the time nic would be a full set right now x____x as well as aurora.

    42. @MaryamDN Yes, Impl has a tendency to use showy makeup and a lot of gloss sometimes. My brain was debating for a long time if the Lydia sculpt had merely over-glossed lips of if she had a slight case of duck face. You're drawn to those lips at once with the default makeup.

Oh, has anyone tried using Makoeyes on a Star/Idol head sculpt? My upcoming Azalea (SQUEE FINALLY GOT HER) has no eyes included, so I'm pondering whether 12mm or 14mm is a better size for her.

    43. @AntarelNefertili: I find Impldoll's presentational pictures often not really a good argument for the doll. The wigs they use, mainly for their male sculpts are rather strange-looking. My daugther did not like Nic's pics as a demon at all. I had to show her the blank picture they sent me. So yes, it often beneficial to look behind the face-up to see the real potential of these dolls.

    44. does anyone know what clothes fit on the idol bodies? I've been scrolling through this and haven't had much luck finding an answer?

    45. Iplehouse EID stuff is your best bet, likewise EID clothes from Freedomteller. Sometimes long-cut SID clothing. The one or the other stretchy Dollmore piece, if you are lucky. Anything else, it is similar to what people experience with Iple EIDs. Sometimes you have experiment.

    46. @Hansongirl97 do you mean the Idol men or the Idol women? I can give you a huge list of stuff that fits Idol men if that's what you're looking for.

On the topic of Idol men, Aubrey is very happy to have his unconventional family all together at last. I did a few family portraits of them today. Sky (5Stardoll Kevin) is Aubrey's ward and of course Zerachiel is his partner (Zera and Zach are Its alternate personae, in case anyone was wondering).

    47. I'm curious what resin tone Impl owners would agree matches best for an olive/Mediterranean-type complexion...

I'm quite tempted to shell a character of mine as Impl Nic... His name is Vel, and he's a werewolf ^_^

      Examples:
      Chat doodles
      Werewolves and Vampires - PAINTED
      Also: https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/ce/c1/ef/cec1ef07b12546b186278b7c9f292e9a.jpg

Impl has a lot of tan options, and I have heard some aren't especially nice to look at (too orange?)... Any insight would be appreciated~

    48. @PineRain some of the IMPL tans are quite orange-y. I have dolls in pink skin, regular real skin, Anti-UV real skin and regular tan. I actually do not like the regular tan colour at all and I personally find it very unpleasant with an orange-red cast to it. Judging by your photos/pictures, you might like the anti-UV real skin colour. It is slightly on the yellowish side, but mellows quite nicely. And if they don't have any default colours you like, you can always get them to make a custom colour for you. :)

Old photo is old, but here is my Gabriel (Gnaeus). He is the anti-UV real skin:

    49. @SapphireStargazer - Yeah, the anti-UV tan does look pretty nice. And I had neglected to consider Impl's custom color option. That might be the route I'd go. Thanks for the responce.

    50. @PineRain you're welcome! It's no problem :) The custom colour service is really great. I've used it twice and I've gotten three gorgeous dolls from it. All three are pretty much exactly the colour of the samples I sent. IMPL does great work in terms of matching, and they can match off a sample of resin or even off a paint card. My Zera (Alma) is a custom colour, so this is an example of a custom tan, and she was matched from a paint card:

    51. Hello everyone!

Can anyone who's entered into the past FB events (or this current one) tell me how long it took you to get a reply back from Impl after you sent your email - or when they sent a paypal invoice? I sent in my application for an Azaela head yesterday before the event was over (I've wanted Azaela for so long!), and was just wondering when I could expect to hear back from them. :)

Also - the stars must have aligned for me with this event as I found, by complete accident, while at Doll North this weekend, a grey Impldoll Idol girl body. The Azaela head I've always wanted would be in grey. So of course I snatched it up as quickly as I could! Now my incoming Azaela won't be a floating head!

For now, my Soom Onyx has taken the body for her own until I can get another body for her. I really LOVE this Idol body - it's a lovely poser, and she's so shapely and well proportioned. And for an added (and very happy!) bonus, the bodies grey resin matches my Soom Onyx head almost perfectly. It's a 98.9% match! I'm over the moon!

Here's a photo of Delraea, my Onyx, on her new body. <3

    52. i seem to recall having an email error at some point with them during the last event when it came to the invoice. if i remember correctly i ended up sending them money instead (my memory isn't serving me well here) but what i can tell you is that impl is usually astoundingly quick with emails.follow up a second time or msg them on their facebook pages maybe to see if they received your request.the other thing is they're probably getting lots of requests now...so that might be slowing them down a bit, but wouldn't hurt to follow up if it's been more than 3 business days.
      congrats of Azalea ^_^

    53. This! And if they don't seem to respond to their emails for whatever reason, you can always send them a message to their facebook that the email went through and didn't disappear somewhere.

    54. @Elzaim -- I have limited experience on the matter but when I put in my application for Plaice, they responded right away with the invoice.

Coincidentally, I've actually popped into this thread because of the recent event too (please pardon the intrusion! :abow:).
I haven't heard from Impl after paying the invoice, and I was wondering if this is normal. XD The invoice had my shipping address on it but I guess I thought I'd get some sort of... additional confirmation with my order ID or something like that? Or should I just expect to suddenly receive a head in a couple of months?

    55. there's nothing wrong with emailing them a follow up to confirm. they're very approachable. i would certainly follow up and make sure they had received it. they'll take anywhere between 1 to 2 months to send you the head but again...they're super approachable!

    56. @sno4wy So I wasn't the only one wondering if there should be an order number or something. I sent my payment via a friend's PayPal and so far I haven't heard from Impldoll since. I'll send an email to them in a few and tell you guys the results. :)

    57. my Azaela order went smoth... but well I ordered a few minutes after the facebook post popped. But just send them a email. They are really kind <3 I´m sure you getting your head.

aaaand something other: I finished Maliks outfit~ well his outfit for now which was a lot of trial end error and will be remaade when >I find time and a nice fabric.
