IMPL dolls Star, Model and Idol Discussion thread Part 7

Jun 6, 2015

    1. ZALIAYN, I completely agree!! A swiveling thigh joint would make things soooo much easier! I love Impldoll, Lord known I do, but the lack of engineering (which I think translates to a lack of lines/seams for a more natural/streamlined look) on the new Starwoman/Idol girls is just so frustrating! Enough for me to look elsewhere for a body so I can -you know- POSE my BJDs. But no matter- I am definitely not against hybridizing.

OOH, those B&G girls are HUGE! B&G have been around for many years but their sculpts rarely speak to me. Their newer Old World offerings have THE most gorgeous full sets! I ignored the 69cm girls because I have no need of one but WOW, yeah! That could work if the shoulders can handle the size of that noggin! I was looking at measurements and their chest size is smaller than an Idol (their default size, that being 30cm) so it may look a tiny bit bobble-headed but I'd LOVE to see it!

URBANIZER, happy to help! The proportions are good, please spam your girl when she arrives!

KITTY BLUE, I'd like to see the Van head on a Starwoman body please!

    2. I hate the hassle of editing the posts now, so rather than edit my post above I am going to just post another. A Very Nice Someone on Flickr requested some ref pics of Tank on the DZ body because she was considering a Martin head on a Ringdoll body which had similar measurements to the DZ body. So I did a TON of pics -he is so photogenic!- and realized... I may need to get another Tank for the other character now and perhaps in normal yellow or similar. I am IN LOVE with Tank in auburn braids!
[IMG]Smoking hot by chalyss, on Flickr

Poor boy really needs a faceup. And now that I think I've placed him (not the original short-haired character), he might just get one. He is super sexy in the black pants and a simple twinging black top. Pics of that later. More people need a tank in their lineup!

    3. Thank you for the advice! :) I think I'm going to try sanding her nose this weekend and see how it goes. If I don't do it now, I'll probably wish I had once her faceup is done.

Yeah, I love how the body looks, and the height of it (which is the reason why I went for it in the first place - Bairah's a very tall lady!) but it is proving to be a little awkward to pose; the legs especially seem to want to do their own thing and twist back into their default pose. I'm not against hybridising either but finding 70cm female bodies seems to be a bit of a feat, especially when you want grey resin too!

And Tank is looking absolutely gorgeous <3 That wig is fantastic!

    4. Have you looked at mirodoll? I've got a 70cm girl body on they way from them for another head ... Plus they resin match. :)
Is anyone else still waiting for their event heads? I did email impl for a tracking number but I guess it got overlooked

    5. Yes I am still waiting for my head!
They gave me a tracking number..which isn't working blehh.
Decided to just wait for it to magically pop up at my doorstep since the pic they provided me was of the package all sealed with my name on it :)

    6. I can put the Vanessa head on an Iris/Miro/70cm girl body if anyone needs to see it...

    7. I shall continue to stalk my mailman like a mad woman then lol ;)

Chalyss - what do you think of the posing of the miro 70cm?

    8. Thanks for the link :)

What does everyone think of the idol and star male bodies for posing? Someone recently said they didn't rate the idol body

    9. ;)
@chalyss I'd like to see that combo please :)

    10. wow he's gorgeous chalyss :o And yes I've seen the miro body on the other thread - would love to see that combo!

FrozenRose the idol boy body has 2 versions now - one with 2 torso joints, and one with just one at the chest (for looks sake) I have the older style with 2 torso joints and he's a fabulous poser - great upper arm swivel joint too on the bicep which is useful. So I was very surprised when my idol girl came, and she is just the worst poser ever! It's all about the looks with some dolls, and I'm not impressed, although I still love her ^_^

    11. thanks chalyss - really helpful pics! ^_^ I think it's a good looking head for that body, although note what you say on flickr about the head fitting the neck. Wow your Deborah is amazing :o I hadn't seen her before! Did impldoll make that colour specially for you?

    12. *gasps* I have not spammed Chalyss enough if you haven't seen her, ELVE!! Yes, Impl made her special for me though I imagine the red might be a fantasy color offering the future (and can,of course, be requested). I didn't send a sample, I just told them Chinese red, happy red, Hell Boy red, and they got it!! I also sent a range of HTML color codes but I don't think I actually had to. Anyhoo, I have TONS of of pics of my baby girl! She'll be getting a faceup soon too- too wet right now to do that.

      SPAM!

    13. I love your Tank, @chalyss ! That DZ tan matches Impl's really, really well. The long and lanky body suits him!

    14. yep Tank is lovely - another one I overlooked as I didn't like impldoll's default faceup! Chalyss is pretty amazing chalyss - where did you find blue boots like that for her? I love them - love her entire style!

    15. @chalyss your Tank looks great in tan! i love what you've got going on with the outfit too! looks great!

my Bernice and Giden arrived last week! i love everything about these dolls!!!despite the numerous complaints i've read about concerning the new star body, i actually love it. it poses effortlessly in my opinion. i love that she's curvy and not skinny as well....she even has a slight tummy whihc is natural, and kinda cute! ^___^ it's great since i intended her to be a companion for my Dollshe David Kuncci, who you may know, is massive! so their bodies are actually nicely compatible!

    16. MARYAMDN, CONGRATS!!! I love the Bernice sculpt, she's so natural looking! YAY!! Those two look great together, too! *Bernice envy!* I love that sculpt so much I'm planning twins! And glad to hear you love the body! <3

Thank you BLITHEFOOL, and thank you ELVE! I'm really liking the match too! I could hug Impl for sending me the tank head in tan as a gift! I think I will need to get another one for the character I THOUGHT he would be too, maybe in real skin. I need to find another old DZ body first.

      ELVE
, the boots were handmade by _Berta_ here on DoA. She makes gorgeous shoes!!! She is working on 2 commission pairs for me right now for Chalyss so they'll have the Idol sizing. I completely recommend Berta! She is not just commission but sells her own (which Chalyss' are, they were just in the perfect blue so I snatched them up!) and the quality is amazing! She has a shop in the Marketplace under handmade shoes. (I painted the soles gold and her ankle straps blue to match her boots; otherwise they are both made in a very classy patent black.)

    17. O.O oh my gosh!!! @chalyss you're going to get two Bernices????? i'm sooo waiting for more people to get her! i only know one other person that owns her on Flickr and one that will be getting her soon!

also...does any one know when impl is planning on releasing that incredible sculpt they were working on? the realistic male they released pictures of on their facebook...

    18. *LOL* That's the plan! I want one on an old Starman body so they're brother/sister twins. I just love the Bernice sculpt! There's something about it that really catches my attention.

And YES! I asked on FB and another responded to me saying she'd asked Impl and they told her he'll be released by end of month or in a month. So not long. He really is a different sculpt than their usual I think. Very interesting! He'd make a good non-movie based Loki among many other things.

    19. Congrats MaryamDN ^_^ Wow I really like her sooooo much with that delicate faceup you've given her - Yet again I could not see past the impldoll default faceup in the photos :doh

twin Bernice's will be awesome chalyss - can't wait to see what you do with them! ^_^

    20. Just checked my tracking for my Martin head and it has finally left China!
Ahh can't wait to see him in person!
On a side note I think I really am loving the new boy that Impl is working on! Ack I might even be in trouble once he's released!

    21. YAY!! Hope he makes it home soon, safe and sound! <3

    22. owwww Impldol why? The new head looks promising but I paid my order yesteday -.-"
well.. I want a Plaice head aswell so I assume another order is upcoming.

and hurray I´m back on the forum

    23. Yay! Welcome back!
What did you get yourself in your latest order if you don't mind me asking? ;)

@chalyss Yes I hope so too! He will at most arrive early next week!

    24. just the new Idol body ^^
I like it more than the old one. I hope it pose well

    25. Oooh sweet!

Btw to all those who have ordered custom coloured dolls from Impl!
I might want to order jointed hands for my custom gray Chad, but I'm worried about the match.
Plus my Chad order was made early this year, so I'm not sure if they will get the colour right..
So I was wondering if anyone has tried ordering parts for their custom on a later date?
Knowing Impl they would most probably be optimistic about it, but I'm quite skeptical about it

    26. Yay my Martin head arrived yesterday ... He looks perfect as the older brother of my dollshe Grant Phillippe - I'll be working on their faceups today :)
Sadly though he did show me that impl's tan is too far off for the hybrid I was planning but it was a shot in the dark in the first place so I'm sure I'll think of something. Can't wait until next year when I can get Martin his body now :)

    27. WB, UMINARI!

AZUREVSAZTEC- Resin matching is more of an art than anything and Impldoll is actually pretty good at it. However, for the best match you'd have to send a sample. Their colors seem mostly consistent though not flawlessly so. I don't think they'd match my special custom red, for instance- and they told me that any orders for parts in red in the future would probably not match, or more, they can't guarantee it. If it's a color they make in-house, like the grey, there's a good chance it will be very close.

    28. Hmm I think I will give my order no to Impl and see if they can match it based of that. Another company-i think Granado, was able to do just that.

But am I the only one who doesn't like the way the hands pose? His wrist ball joint always swivels and make his hands pose in such a feminine way that I can't overlook it. Hoping the jointed hands would be a better option.

    29. welcome back! ^_^

And how do I find this mysterious new head impldoll's working on? :? Meanwhile, resigned to keeping Richard's (imp Tony) hunky body, even though I'd prefer a slimmer model :sigh I've given him some new eyes instead - much cheaper LOL - They are too small, but I figured he really needs a pale iris to his eye, as they are so tiny - and these 12mm (I think?) are all I had in stock. Terrible photo, as usual :blush

    30. ^___^ i'm excited for you to get her. i know what you mean...i was almost positive i was done with buying whole dolls...and then she happened X.X
i can't wait to see what the new head looks like in resin. so far the sculpt looks cool...but sometimes when they're cast they lose the initial appeal. I'd love to see Impl do more realistic styles!

    31. [IMG]

right now i'm loving the lips and the wrinkles ...not sure if he's handsome over all though....individual features are looking great!

    32. thanks MaryamDN ^_^ hmmm - an interestingly 'mature' sculpt :3nodding:

    33. That's the face I've been waiting for since he was first posted on their FB. :D I hope they keep all the details just as they are. I think he'll be a joy to paint.

    34. OH MY GOSH!! YES!!!! the whole charm of this sculpt is the details! they will be making a mistake if they dont....i just wish he was a bit sexier :P

@elve sorry i missed your initial comment about Bernice! i actually would not have ordered her at all had i not seen her blank face BEFORE i saw the company faceup.....i dont know what impl was thinking when they gave her that faceup and out fit...it completely hides the extraordinary potential of this amazing girl. i really do think she's a unique one in impl's line. as for this new guy loving this style....my Dollshe David has wrinkles on his lips, it adds so much! it's specially nice for doing natural face ups and shading. again, his looks aren't enough to make me want to spend on him at this point, but the style is definitely a winner with me right now since i tend to gravitate towards the realistic sculpts.

    35. impldoll do seem to be a bit heavy-handed with their faceup for the idol dolls at least - I removed my Tony's faceup because it was soooooo overdone, he looked like a girl almost! They need a faceup artist who can do 'barely there' as an option I think.

    36. Maybe it's the eyes. . . but when I first saw him I thought of Sinatra. :whee: He'd make a pretty good Daniel Craig, too. I've seen enough people wishing for older looking sculpts and I think he'd be very versatile. No one would ever mistake him for a girl. :wiggle

    37. oh yes now you mention it he does look like both of them somewhat! :XD:

    38. Daniel Craig, yes! And in the eyes, definitely Sinatra. So if you ever wanted Sinatra and son-of-Sinatra dolls, he'd fit both!

AZURE: I don't have an idol male yet so not sure about the hand posing, but I love jointed hands and my Chad will have them. Also may get a pair for my Tank as the Granado hands he has on now seem short wristed or something. I'm eager to see him cast in resin too!

MARYAM, I think it's Bernie's mouth- I lust love wide mouths. She has such a cool sculpt!

ELVE, Tony is such a powerful sculpt that a faceup almost isn't needed at all, much like Tank I think. Barely-there is perfect which to me shouts 'strong sculpt'! I love Tony's face- both strong and gentle like the dad from Little House on the Praerie/Michael Landon or something. I sanded the bump out of my Tony's nose and took away his cleft, though he is awesome with them. Just my character didn't have either. He is a beautiful, versatile boy!

I was looking at nudes of Martin and he strikes me as a pretty, pared-down version of Benedict Cumberbatch. That jawline is identical.

    39. Okay, I've about torn my hair out…….:x! I used to know how to post a photo, but has photobucket changed everything now?
because everything I used to know, well now I don't! Any advice, or do I just keep snarling and growling?:...(

    40. Website Photobucket is a bit of a pain to work with. I have posted things before then edited the post on my iPod just because it was easier to find and post the pic that way XP So you need the IMG link which you get by either clicking on the three little lines in the top left corner and hitting share, or if you click on the picture itself, it will be in a box on the right. And if I've done this right there should follow a terrible grainy pic of my crew all wrapped up warm.

ANd if there's nothing there, I'll join you in the hair tearing! How to post from Flickr, that one I still haven't figured out!

    41. @elve overdone is definitely the word. i'm not a fan of most company faceups anyways but when the faceup actually takes away form the sculpt, you gotta take a step back and wonder why practically no one orders her! i regret nothing, she's incredible.

@xtal i love more mature sculpts....not old but just a bit aged and a bit more human. i can't tell you how much i love my Dollshe David but right now, all the mature looking dolls come at a hefty price X____X took me for ever to save up for David, and i dont think impl will ever attempt to go as far as dollshe does with his realism. the 28M dollshe body has details that would blow Michelangelo's mind. but it would be really nice to see some compatible mature heads out there from more reasonably priced companies like impldoll. i hope they do a few more heads like this one.

@chalyss when i saw the original faceup on her, i hated the dips on either side of her lips, i thought it made it look like she was trying to make a face and tightening the corners of her lips. it's definitely not a feature you want to highlight in the faceup and it was very easy to avoid it when i did my Bernice's faceup.....I'm hoping Impl will read this thread and go a bit easy on their faceups X_____X but back to her strengths (there are plenty) her lips are prominent features and the detail in the teeth is quite nice as well. with a lighter more natural faceup, she really did end up being unrecognizable as one of Impl's girls. i dont know though.....maybe thats just my taste. i'm not big on dramatic makeup. i like my dolls' faceups as real looking as i can make them.

    42. It would be nice if all companies would take photos of the blank sculpt and offer a couple of options for a face up. I don't mind if the body isn't as detailed as the face. Particularly if the price of the doll leaves room for a finely tailored suit. ;)

Tank made me think of Chris Pine/Captain Kirk, so. . . if Martin is close enough to Cumberbatch. . . :wiggle

    43. Rubydoll: Thank you for your gallant and sucessful attempt at helping me. Yes your picture came up just fine. When I tried it I got a box that said "select your social media" none of which was DOA. Then I got a message that my flash player is out of date. I give up! …..at least for tonight. Not only can I not take a decent photo, but when I get one that's not toooo bad, I'm too dumb to post it!:sigh
      Thanks anyway.:atremblin

    44. oh more than one faceup and faceup style would be an incredible idea....but that would mean more people to pay and probably what would follow would be an increase in doll prices :/ although.... they would easily be able to swap a head or doll for a faceup service. i know companies/ faceup artists that do that. it's a good deal if you're into the head, otherwise you just get a free head you dont particularly like.

    45. Unless you're set on the "social" aspects of something like Photobucket (or Flickr) you could try Postimage:
Postimage.org - free image hosting / image upload
You don't even have to sign up, it's free, and after you upload an image it gives you all the codes, including a direct link to the image. I tend to upload a photo in the size I want to post because they don't have the multiple re-size formats. . . although that might be available in a paid version.

      • x 1
    46. Honestly, Photobucket is not easy to use. I was trying to check my privacy settings because I realised that clicking on the photo would take people through to my albums, full of terrible, terrible pictures, but I could not find a way to log out to check what was public. The only way I found was to delete all my cookies and refresh the page. The padlock I thought would make all of them private did not do that so I ended up going through a very long winded process just to make sure I was only sharing what I wanted to share. It uploads my photos automatically which is very convenient but there are pics I do not want the general public to see! I swear my flash player is always out of date too XP I hope that tomorrow you are refreshed and ready to do battle with technology so we can see your photos. The ones you want us to! And I'm sure they're not that bad.

    47. Photobucket was no problem with the old forum but I find now I have to edit the code before I can get the photo to appear and it is a bit hit and miss.

    48. I deleted my ENTIRE photobucket (thousands of irreplaceable photos) in a temper a couple of years ago LOL - Although I did at least have the wits to save a few of my more recent photos to my pics on my computer! Photobucket kept opening random pop-up websites on my computer - it still does if I click on anyone's photobucket pic, so I avoid clicking on anyone's photobucket for more than a nanosecond for that reason.
I managed to fix the privacy thing where anyone who clicked on one of my pics could see my ENTIRE photobucket/life story laid out in all it's glory! But still I pretty much hated it - they seemed very invasive and full of ads.

So I opened a flickr account - very easy! Load pics from your computer by clicking the little cloud icon (then follow through with upload button), and simply click the little arrow on the right of the photo (when it's the main photo - not on the photostream of lots of pics) and choose 'bb code' - then copy/paste that into the forum reply.

you do need to edit the size of your photos though as digital cameras make them huge - so if you don't have photoshop or similar, just use mspaint and resize to 50%

    49. Okay, BB code for Flickr? I think I might try to use that a bit more because I choose which photos to put on there so it's a bit more coherent. And means people are less likely to stumble onto photos of impressive heat bumps, or photos of me experiencing a dry shampoo fail so I look like Rogue from the X Men. (And I really should resize my pics, I know. But most of the time I'm on the forum on my iPod so I don't see how huge they are!)

    50. With Photobucket, all you need to do is take the "Direct Image Link" URL. Then you paste it in here (nested between img tags). :) At least, that's the way I do it, which I personally think is the easiest.

And in Impl news, I sadly have to wait on the body for my Or-Doll head again. :( Soom decided to release the perfect doll for a character of mine, so since it was limited I had to jump on it.
Ah well, Kaiden wouldn't even have had her proper eyes, or even any clothes at all if I would have bought her body now! :P

    51. My plans keep getting pushed back too. Since I went a bit mad with Dollheart fukubukuros, I pushed getting my Erica a body to next month but now Souldoll are selling off some heads including from the Double line which I think is discontinued and Kanguk was on my list of possible partners for Martin. But I'm not absolutely sure so I think in this case I should wait. Maybe the perfect sculpt is just waiting to be made. Of course, if I do go ahead and order Erica's body, the Model body will be headless. But as all of my dolls will be taller (except Ziv, bless) I could make her a younger character I'd been considering shelling. But she is very curvy for a character who's meant to be about 13. I could mod it but I love it as is. The other option is letting my niece pick a head and she can be her doll. But she's too young for me to feel comfortable letting her take her home. I wish Martins body would hurry up and get here because I might feel okay about her borrowing my event Gela!

    52. Honestly.....i have both Flickr and Deviant art and Deviant art is the easiest to share pictures on....flicker is easier to share picture in since you can do several pix/ descriptions/ tags at ones, but deviant art is tedious because you have to upload each picture separately. but when it comes to posting them here on DoA all you have to do on deviant art is right click on the image, go to view image, and then copy and paste the URL

speaking of which!!! i finished Giden's facup hooves today.

    53. Oh wow, Giden looks fab! You did a great job there! Love how the ear tips get gradually darker and the fur down the side of her face is adorable. Aiden is lurking in the general area of my wishlist but Giden is so cute as well I worry I might have to get the pair!

    54. oh he's a real cutie MaryamDN :love Great job with the faceup as usual - you are so good at 'real life' natural effects! Is it mainly pastels you use or have you got an airbrush?

    55. Thanks @elve ^_____^ . nope, no airbrush for me! my studio is much too small and much too crammed at this point for an air compressor! just pastel, acrylic, and watercolor pencils. i wish i could do faceups as realistic as ruggedrealism or SDink :p but for now, this is the best i can do.

@rubydoll thank you ^_^ ....O.o aren't Giden and Aiden the same doll except male/ female version? (i'm almost positive they are exactly the same and to be honest if it matters to any one the female version is actually asexual...it's got nothing that would identify it as a female). i love my Giden but she's so out of place in my lot of massive SD dolls that i'm still not sure if i'll be keeping her. i adore her though at the same time. she's so expressive in her posing and she holds her poses so incredibly. i have a rough idea of how i'm supposed to switch her out of her hooves and into her human feet, but i haven't the slightest idea how to actually do it!!!

    56. Errr...I don't know...maybe it's just the face up but Aiden looks to me a little bit younger - I just had a look at the blank pictures of them on the site and they do look different to me but it could just be a slightly different angle. It's like playing spot the difference!

I have four SDs, one yo-SD and two tinies. Even though I know the scale is totally wrong, I don't actually mind that much. This is Alisander with his two year old brother Tristan. But he's more like the size of a baby than a toddler. I suppose it helps that he ooks "right" with my yo and other tiny so the fact they're all too small compared to my SDs is less of a deal. It's personal preference, I guess :)

I've heard switching the hooves can be a nightmare so good luck when you try it!

    57. Hah! Switching hooves a nightmare? You betcha! I almost went insane with my first hooved critter,…….until I figured out you have to literally "dig" the button on the bottom of their hooves out!:doh That was lottsa fun!*_*

    58. See now because I have cute shoes I want my Gela to wear, I'm almost considering asking Impl to send her with human feet...but I love a challenge! ...I am probably going to be eating those words, aren't I?
