Fishcake, aw your cat obviously loves Plaice and wants to shower him with affection! I want to get a doll stand too - when my girl wears short skirts as soon as she sits down, well it's a good job I got her some decent underwear!

 

Elven Archer-- congrats on your Azalea! I love mine a lot and I think it's super fun to see how different everyone's looks now that more people are starting to post owner pics. Too bad your girl doesn't like the pink hair, I think it looks awesome on her!
Still working on my Azalea's wig.... it's taking FOREVER! Does not help that we decided to take on a massive home improvement project recently and my house is currently a construction zone while my days are taken up with laying tile. Really cuts into wig making time... poor bald Margo

 

rubydoll that reminds me I need to sew some underwear for Azalea if she is going to sit on the shelf in a yukata to start with. The cat has always totally ignored my dolls (except to grab fur wigs and hide them), but she is just really interested in Plaice. He must smell nice.

Just got my tan Karena today!!! So excited she is gorgeous, though she did have some breaks on her legs near the knee joint, I've sent them an email not sure if they'll be replacing just the broken pieces or the whole body..but I did ask just on the off chance that if they are going to send me the whole body if I can get the new Star body instead. I love the Idol body but the Karena head just seems a little too small. Guess I'm use to my big headed Resinsoul dolls..lol. I got a UV tan Avery as well but totally forgot to add on the order that I wanted it as a girl not boy..lol..oops oh well he's cute but OT for here. I'll try and get some photos when I figure out wigs and clothes..hopefully I'll have at least one random outfit laying around that will fit her..lol.

 

@rubydoll - Her two default wigs are white and red/brown but I might pop her into one of the girlfriend's dolls wigs, for science of course. She's planning to get a green one XD

@thedarkeststar13 - I know what you mean, I love seeing the diversity between same sculpts Aw, well I hope you'll be able to finish her wig soon!

@Kitty Blue - Congrats on your Karena! Too bad about the leg though I still can't wait to see pictures! AND I SO KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN ABOUT THE RS HEADS. My Azalea fits into all my RS msd wigs; it's the only reason she isn't bald right now :'D

Kitty Blue Well as you got some breakeage to one leg ask also for the star torso/bust..i think that in this case Karena head would looks surely proportioned and this would save you from buying a whole new body for her.

Fishcake, traditionally Japanese women didn't wear underwear so that's kinda authentic! However they didn't tend to sit on shelves though!

Kitty Blue, yay for the new arrivals though it's a shame she's broken and Avery isn't as you planned. Hope they can sort out a new body for her.

ElvenArcher, wig swapping is an important experiment and if I could swap my hair colour that easily I'd try every one I could! My boy is presently stuck in a rather frazzled wig because I tried to straighten it with hot water and it didn't like it. Not literally stuck, I didn't melt it to his head. It just suits him better than my non-fried wigs!

 

rubydoll the shelf is at eye level and the yukata is a narrow one that won't stay tied. Plus you can see exactly that spot from the street. I forget and leave the occasional headless doll there... and then I get no solicitors, so it's not all bad. I'm sorry your boy's best wig is not cooperating--I hate it when they have "the one wig" and that is the one that gets messed up (or chewed on).

 

Kya has a face, despite over an inch of rain. (There is a make space in the next town over that has a spray booth. It's a pain to pack up all of my materials, but it may not be a bad idea to work in a social space.)

trying to find some eyes and a wig to fit temporarily none of the clothes I have fit except a skirt that I made my Iplehouse girl so she is using it as a dress for now..lol. I'll try and get pics sometime this weekend.

Fishcake, eeep she definitely needs underwear then! Lol I should try the headless doll solicitor deterrent- though I did put my boy's body in the front room window headless and naked in an attempt to deliberately yellow him to match the head. As it was a British winter day there was hardly and sun so if anything he might have turned blue from the cold.

Cezanne, she looks so serene, I didn't recognise the sculpt at first! She looks so natural too which I find quite hard on white skin. The wig is custom as well? It's a lovely colour and really suits her.

 

Cezanne she is so elegant! Having a spray hood would be wonderful--I've seen homemade ones that looked good too but it helps to have sash windows to set it up (and a way to cut plywood).

Fishcake-- it sure FEELS like a workout, with as much floor as we're covering I better be super buff after this! I love the pale blue Plaice you have, by the way. I thought he was great when Fush first got him, and I'm glad he's found a home.
Kitty Blue--- congratulations AND condolences on your Karena. that sucks that she's broken but she's a really gorgeous sculpt and I hope they get you some replacement parts quickly so you can properly enjoy her.

Kitty Blue if you can find an older Star body on the MP the size is perfect for that head-- it may be a bit of a wait for Impl to send you replacement parts. I'd have a hard time waiting since the head is so pretty!

 

@rubydoll -- thank you. Glad I managed serenity -- Kya is a priest of the principle of wisdom, so enlightenment should be an ultimate goal for her. (Not like that'll happen any time in her near future, though...) The trick for an even skin tone is to treat the base layer of pastel like makeup foundation. I use panpastels with a makeup sponge and give her whole face a thin coat of a flesh tone. I use white resin specifically because I learned makeup in the theater, and the blank canvas makes it easier. (It also means I can match a skin tone from doll to doll and I have fewer yellowing worries.) Yes, her wig is my work. I've got the beginnings of a tutorial at my Flickr page, but it's just a rooted hard cap. The hair is acetate, which I find much easier to work with and better behaved than the polys.

Octavia is a beautiful sculpt, though I think IMPL's eye size notation is out of scale. She must use low dome eyes -- high domes have no chance of fitting unless they're so large that her irises look like she's been eating belladonna. She's wearing 14mm ovals, and they seem a little large.

@fishcake: the hood is... Useful, sort of. It was nice not having to use the respirator, but harder because of the way this one is set up. (It's primarily for much more dangerous chemicals than MSC.) I will probably use it in the future for base coating since I can get about 5 doll bodies in at once, but it was definitely overkill for what I was doing. When I have a garage, I may set up one corner with an extractor fan, but I only use MSC for top coating/UV cut. As all the buts here indicate, I'm ambivalent about the hood.

Ah, I'm gonna try that on Ziv next time I re-do him to take the edge off his whiteness. He's meant to be pale but he's not a ghost! And that should make body blushing easier too - pink looks cute on my little dolls but not on a six pack and flesh tone looked wrong too on plain white. I have a load of hair I should use and two unfinished wigs. They take a lot of patience!

I've found that with the eyes too. I tried a size larger in Eden but combined with awful faceup 2.0 he looked like a toad. I'm gonna get in there with the file and see what I can do. Tdelia isn't so bad but she has squishy silicone eyes.

I tried out an old doll stand I had for a porcelain doll - had not realised how much bigger my bjds are - the waist gripping part had to go round my girl's leg! But it's fairly sturdy and I felt brave enough to leave them standing up overnight like this.

 

no worries they are going to send replacements..she stands just fine with the chipped pieces..I am patient I can wait..afterall I'm still waiting on my Chad..maybe her replacement parts will come in at the same time and I can enjoy both of them together. Right now though I have several unfinished projects so getting her a faceup will have to be put on hold for now.

I just got a Tan Karena...close to Soom tawny resin. Unfortunetly I don't know how to get the URL code from Flikr which is probably why I didn't use it in the past..lol. But facebook keep changing their stuff and my photo URLs keep changing which is quite annoying. As far as the tan color not sure what they changed looks like the same color I received a few years back when I had a Teno.

KITTY BLUE, she is gorrrrgeous!!! Is that on the Idol body then? Oh I like Soom tawny... so pretty! The old Impl tan was close to old DZ and AOD tan, but far from tawny. She sure is a pretty color! And a pretty doll! MORE PLEASE!!!

Sabbatha: I want to know that too (about the body of KittyBlue's girl). My Karena will be in idol body... that size will be tall and impresive! but she's a warrior half human creature character, she can be tall and that reminds me ... (this Xena meme) LOL! Don't know why.

 

Vevet do you want to know about the girl or boy idol? The boy idol is just about perfect, if big--he's Iplehouse EID size but a better poser. The female Idol has IMO too large a bust for my taste, and has a tendency to cross her legs as the string crosses inside the pelvis (a bit like the newer Iplehouse EID body, but she is taller). I have a set of photos here. She's still a good poser and a nicely designed body, especially for the ankles and wrists.

 

I LOVE the Iplehouse light brown. I wish more companies had a similar color; blue undertones instead of the red. And it's so soft. Can we petition them to add a color like that as a permanent choice? I love the Impl dark tan too- it's a gorgeous hue and I simply neeeeed an Akasha in it!

Tdelia is such a cutie! I saw someone else with that head on an old Star Woman body and in tan... she made an amazing teenager!

Man, I love that dark tan. I wonder if they'd do it for the smaller sculpts if you contacted them and asked them. In the far flung future if I ever get a girl model from them, half of me would love to get a darker skinned sculpt.

 

Lothlin, you're in luck because dark tan is offered on all their dolls for a small extra fee. The little buggers look great in it!

 

I really may have to. One day. As much as I'd like to, unless I can actually get some etsy stuff to sell or work starts paying me a lot more money, another doll just isn't in the works for a while. I sure would love an Antonia in dark tan, I just love the stark visual contrasts you can achieve with the darker skinned dolls.

 

Yes my Karena is on the Idol body from certain angles she looks ok on that body but from the side probably because of her bust her head looks really small. And yea her legs bother me as well I don't care for the knee joints and she was slightly difficult to get to sit because her legs didn't want to go straight they want to cross..has anyone tried stringing them normal does it work or not?

Delia's head looks really good on the Idol body seems to be larger than the Karena at least it looks like that from the photo Fishcake linked.
The tawny isn't an exact match its off maybe a shade but close enough that I think it will work ok if I decide to hybrid. I'll try and see if I can get better photo with my actual camera and not my Iphone..lol.

 

Kitty Blue, you're a Resin soul expert... I was thinking of hybridizing a special Karena head, like yours, with a Resin Soul AI body, or whichever is the girl with hooves. Would that work or is the head too big for that body, do you think?

 

Oh, I think I've seen her, on Impldoll's website gallery? Yeah, she's awesome and I'm almost jealous how good she looks on the Star body. The Model body is quite short in the torso - I'm considering making a sort of gusset for one of her underskirts so it sits a bit lower than her natural waist for a better line. On the plus side, Alice's Collections jeans fit her perfectly!

Karena is so pretty even "unfinished ". But I can see how the big bust could make her head look unproportional (not a word, apparently). Maybe it would help if Impldoll could do a head size comparison, maybe line them up in order!

This thread is making me want a tan doll. I hadn't really considered it as things like sanding marks showing and white residue in faceups put me off a bit as a newbie. But with three out of four of my current dolls being white skin and Tdelia a very pale real skin, a bit of contrast would be nice.

 

pretty certain it may be too big as the neck circumference is different...however I'll give it a swap when I get home after work today and see how much of a different it is. The white and normal resins should match well or you could probably do the custom color request. It should be later around 5-6pm before I'd be able to upload a photo.

 

Karena head on Resinsoul Ai 58cm body. As you can see there is quite a gap along the neck.

I don't like the shoulders being so narrow for that head, so instead of the Ai body, I'll do an old Star body or maybe a Super Gem so I can get the hooves. Karena is just so lovely... I adore her sculpt so much! I want the perfect body for her. Thanks again!!

Rubydoll, I think the tan is such a gorgeous color because more detail shows up- less gets lost in the paleness of the resin which makes features blur if not blushed right. It's hard to get a good shot of a darkly tanned doll next to a pale doll though- lighting plays a factor and some cameras have a hard time with it... like mine. *L* I'll ask them to do a head line up to post here and yes, that's the Tdelia I'm talking about! She reminds me of like... resin Skipper or something... good lanky teen look with a sullen little face.

 

I agree with chalyss, thanks for the pic Kitty Blue. IMO you can try also to ask just for New star bust, and see how she would look.

 

Got around to opening up my Ziv's eyes. I actually took out more than I had planned, but I'm quite happy with the result. I had to re-carve some eyelids too, of course. I may yet fix his tear ducts. I also modded the neck piece on the Obitsu body that he's getting, so as soon as the Apoxie cures, I can put him together for the first time. The resin is a bit more yellow than the vinyl body, but I think I should be able to fix that with face-up.

I love how the Star body looks with the male Idol body. I can't decide if it's funny or annoying that Ziv is shorter than Tdelia in heels! My pale boys have dark hair so my photography is already scuppered! I need practice or lessons!

 

OH has anyone checked out Impl's rotating banner? It looks like the Dream's Art might be some little tiny fairy types! I can't wait to see what they're making. I seem to favor either really big dolls or really small ones lol!

 

Thanks..the top is something I made a while back, my Ai is a World of Warcraft Character of mine so was trying to make her some appropriate hunter clothing but haven't had time to finish everything.

I think a Super Gem body could be really cool especially with hooves..I'd like to get some sort of hooves for my Chad as well. I have Epidia paws at home that I may put on my Karena..we'll see.

Black resin can also be tricky to photograph..I had to put my black resin doll in some bright colors to make her stand out more among my others. I don't think I've had any issues with tan resins. I really would love to get another New Star doll in their dark tan...love the milk chocolate color its really rich and dark...I have one of their deer centaurs in dark tan and its gorgeous color.

 

Ooh, almost missed your Ziv OkamiKodomo. You did a good job - I wasn't brave enough to try eyelids so kudos for that. Can't wait to see how he develops

And now I'm on the computer and have managed to see the banner, I'm really looking forward to seeing what Dream's Art will be too! Yay for little dolls who may turn out to be far too tempting as they skip straight past the "I have nowhere to put a 72cm doll" blockade. Although I am starting to wonder if a Star boy might work with my Models. I know the old style Star girl looked odd next to the Model girl because their proportions were very different but I haven't seen a Star boy next to Models. I kinda like the idea of Ziv being the shortest in a group of SDs ^^

 

Ah! Ziv looks awesome! What a great job! IMO, he doesn't need any fixing, but that's up to you. I think he's super duper!

I'm really not into white dolls- I have a few and they have a reason for being so pale, but I love tans or NS and the few brave companies that will do the darker tans, I adore them for their courage. I really like some kind of color to my resin. Impl's colors are especially nice!

Here's Karena on a Soom Super Gem female body--both are NS, but the Karena head is a little lighter, more like Iplehouse NS:

It's actually a little small for my taste, but the camera blows up the size of her head a little in Macro mode so here she looks fine.
(BTW that is the New Body--I bought old hook hands at the last body event because I am not fond of the magnet hands)

 

Small as in the head is too small for the body or the body is too small for the head? From the photo it does look pretty good together. My Soom Puss n Boots has the magnetic hands its nice to be able to change clothing well...however if the magnet comes out its a pain to try and get back in..I still have yet to glue mine's back in..lol

 

Kitty Blue I just got to the point where one hand would fall off and I was afraid I would lose it. The Karena head physically fits perfectly, it's just visually smaller than I would like--a wig could fix that. She would look super small on the Idol, IMO!

The shoulders look great! What a pretty body! But I do believe you've blogged before about the new Soom body being smaller than the old one, so the old body would definitely be out of the running, I'm thinking. Good golly! So maybe something like Angell Studio or AoD then. I'm eyeballing my Epidia head and gauging it to Iris' head, since Iris/Mei Mei is on an AS body. The neckhole might be a problem as the AS is an 8.3. I may need to head swap and see (Epidia head is about the size of a Karena head) but the neck hole would need some modding I think, for Karena. Even an old StarWoman body would have some gapping. (Only my Mal has magnet hands and while they can be very helpful, they can also be a royal pain. Especially his feet- he looooves to go footless. But he looks hot doing it, so--- )

AH HAH! The old 'wig fix' trick! That might have to be the answer...

 

fishcake thanks for the piccies, as you said in pic the head looks perfectly proportioned to the body, but in real could be a complete different thing. I have this same problem with my Elfdoll head Rita, i've used for her a Classy muscular body and head seems a little too small to fits properly onto the neck, the only solution is just modding the neck in this case..

 

yea I have my Karena head on the Idol body and kinda wish I would have went for the star body or got her in normal resin so it would be easier to match to a different body. I'm curious are all the Idol heads this small then..I certainly hope Chad doesn't have that same problem.


@chalyss: What size is the neck hole on Epidia? Is is smaller than Karena or larger...if you could take a side by side photo of the 2 heads that would be awesome! I have a SD AoD girl body I could try my Karena head on..I also have a Luts SDF if anyone is curious though I think there may be gapping since I'm pretty sure the neck on those are smaller than Impldoll. Oh and a EID I think thats it besides Resinoul that I have right now in my collection

 

Personally I like $abbatha's answer to the Karena neck hole problem, which is filling the neck a little to close the gap. Because most of the bodies that Karena looks right on have smaller necks-- I'm waiting on a small Granado Maiden body for her, so I may need to do a little modding when the maiden body comes. I will post pictures, in any case!
