Tomorrow I pay off my last payment for the body of my Gnaeus. Altair will be finally complete after nearly one year But the poor boy have absolut nothing to wear and I have absolut no time to sew with 3 upcoming tests next week X_X

 

aaah vevet I love them Nelson and Gnaeus do look like they're related. It's amazing how different Gnaeus looks in the normal pink resin compared to the anti-UV real skin.

Congrats on paying off your last payment Uminari! It will be good to see your boys together with their own body soon.

Gnaeus is using borrow shirts... he have no pants in the last pictures LOL.


Sapphire: Thanks ^_^ they are actually regular Real Skin... I'm always so unsure to choice the skin color... I still wondering if UV real or Tan would be better. Regular Real Skin is kind of yellowish, not bad but I usually de-saturate the pictures a bit for more natural look.

 

vevet that's interesting! One of my 1/6 size dolls is in the regular Real skin. I really like that colour as it is a warmer tone than the pink skin. My Tony is pink skin. haha I just realized I have IMPL dolls in 4 different resin colours (pink, regular real, anti-UV real and regular tan). Between the regular real skin and the anti-UV real skin, I like the regular real skin better. The tan skin is a very orange colour, which I do not like, unfortunately.

 

Sapphire: I would love to see the colors because I always have a hard dilemma deciding that... I plan to have more IMPL dolls so, I asked IMPL for a small color samplers but they forgot to send it with my new guy... and forgot a pair of hands that I ordered too. I really want to see the anti-UV and tan in person. Look nice in pictures. Regular real is a nice color, just that my other dolls are typically pale, yes "warm" is a very good word to describe it.

Ipledreamer those look really good! Even the resin match doesn't look too bad, judging from that photo. It's just too bad that Iplehouse doesn't sell their heads separately, because there are a lot of Iple head that I would like to put on IMPL bodies.

 

Ipledreamer-- that looks great! Do the heads have much movement?

Well, resin match is not 100 %. It does not come out in the lighting. In reality, I think the Lee head is a tad small on the body. And he permanently looks up. Or you work against the elastic, then it snaps back.

Perhaps with some modding, it could work.

I agree Vevet, Joshua is pretty interesting as mold his lips are pretty interesting due to his smirk!
The only thing that annoy me is his chin that deffo is too long, but i can easily sand it down

 

Just a short note pertaining to the Nelson that I purchased from Impldoll. The doll arrived poorly painted - the special head looked as if black paint was just smeared around the mohawk resin hair. The special hands will have to be repainted also. The doll arrived in October - poorly packed and with a broken right hand. I decided to put the doll up for sale but wrote Impldoll ASAP for a replacement hand. They told me they would ship it in two weeks. That was Nov. 2, 2014. I did not get tracking from them so wrote again after two weeks. The hand had not been sent yet. Wrote again and they gave me airmail tracking # which showed that the package was never brought into the post. Again I Q & A and was told "sorry pkg. must be lost - will look for it." I waited a few days and wrote again - package sent Dec. 2 - they did not give me tracking - promised hand will be to me in few days. Replacement hand has still not arrived. I will look for other hands for him but this is my last purchase from Impldoll. This is my third purchase from Impldoll and all of the items have had minor issues - but this one has more than minor problems and I no longer trust doing business with them. I hope no one else has to go through this with Impldoll.
Here is a photo of just the head and the paint job I received. The special fists are painted equally as sloppy.

 

Wow...jo1961 that is bad. My first order from IMPL was pretty much a nightmare experience too, but my second order (in which I got Aubrey, my Tony) went as smooth as silk...aside from the 4-months wait. I am really sorry you've had such terrible experiences with them! I don't blame you for deciding never to order from them again. Hopefully you'll soon receive the hand.

vevet, it would be nice if Iplehouse would do that head sale again. I'd go for it!

The sweater and shirt (and trousers too, although they're not visible in the pictures) are from Freedom Teller. The sweater is a little long, as it seems EID men have longer torso and shorter legs than the Idol guys. The tie is from Dollmore. I would've preferred one from FT but they didn't have solid red. Dollmore ties are a pain because they're not quite in-scale for 70cm dolls and are a little too wide. Also, they're made of cotton which is a PITA to tie properly.

Well, that sounds like encouraging news about the hand. Hopefully you'll receive it this week.

 

Have you tried TATA's ties? My big LS boys wear those and they look really nice and are fairly easy to tie, especially considering the scale

 

I've never tried any ties from TATA. I've got a bunch from Freedom Teller and I love those, and I've got one from Pink Fantasy which is really nice, but I might have to look into the TATA ones as well. It was the solid red necktie that I was specifically after, though, and I couldn't find it anywhere except Dollmore.

Caught up on the thread, I kinda wandered off from not having much to add to the conversation. Everyone's photos are lovely!

I put in a layaway order in October, wanted to get in on the event! I ordered Joshua on the Star male body in real skin, Gela in white skin, eyes for the little one, and an outfit, shoes, and wig for Joshua. I just paid off the Layaway last night!

I asked about my order last week, wondering how it was going, and they let me know the outfit was sized for the old Star body and it wouldn't fit the one I ordered. They offered a refund, but since I ordered the event doll, I figured it would be better to pick out extra shoes that were close to the total of the suit. So, he's getting a nice pair of brown shoes, work boots, and stompy goth boots! I figure I can make him clothes, but I dunno how to make shoes (not nice pro ones).

I'm knitting him a sweater, so he won't be totally naked when he gets home... unless I don't get it finished in time. Need to get to work on it! ^_^ I'm glad they told me in time to make changes to my order. They said my order would be shipped this month, but... holiday mail, right? Should be home some time in January, I'm guessing. If he's here by Christmas I'll call it a miracle! ^_^

I'm getting home so late that I been so lazy to make this pic.
I think it may work both ways. But personally I prefer them in their own bodies. Star body with idol head... I'm not very sure about it, look a bit un proportioned in person, maybe you may not see that in picture. Idol with Star head... not so bad. But is a matter of preference and I think both ways may work well. Maybe the proportion problem are more visible if the doll have no clothes.

I need to make better pictures... or ask Impldoll for pictures of this interesting head swap.

I'm sorry you've been having problems, jo1961! I haven't checked too far back in the thread, but have you tried emailing them at [email protected]? I hope you get your hands! They were really helpful with me, and even sold me just an Idol torso part last year for a far out there project, and sent it in a month.

And thank you everyone for the lovely Idol and Star spam! I wish I had known Nelson was going to be so good looking! I'm getting a Soom Mega Gem head to hybrid with either an Idol or Star body. I'm leaning towards Star because it's way cheaper, and I have to get a color match done on him (IN RED!!).

Would anyone happen to have a Soom Mega Gem or Idealian head to try on either an Idol or Star body?

Sicktress: I just re-joined Tumblr today and saw some of your pics of him! Looks good! I was wondering what legs he had though, a lot of hooved legs I've seen look really skinny.

Sicktress, I think I like Impl blue better than the Dollshe although always a matter of opinion. Impl it is a lighter blue - dollshe will blow your eyes out.

 

ArtsyLaurie, the legs are Soom Chalco's but I had to thicken them to fit the Impl ball joint.

Jo1961, that's not impl blue, but a spray primer (Army Painter). I also know someone who got the Dollshe blue and got Impl to match the color very closely for one of their tinies! I haven't seen Impl's own blue. Does anyone have one?

 

Thank you for the compliment for my photos, vevet! Also, the comparison shot is great. I think both heads look okay on both bodies, although the Star head does look a little small on the Idol body. With big hair I think it would be okay lol.

jo1961, sometimes the Q&A doesn't work. If you clear your browser's cache, refresh the page and try again, sometimes the "write" button comes back. That happened to me a few times as well. It's annoying. IMPL seems to have some problems with their website; nothing too major but just a bunch of small glitches. I'd definitely second Sicktress suggestion of emailing them directly....and hopefully you'll get an answer from Li, who speaks really great English. Li was the one I've been dealing with about my colour-matched Star body and he is super to deal with. Good luck!!

Sicktress, that colour paint reminds me of Resinsoul's sky blue. hehe that guy is quite the piece of artistry!

Grouchy Gnome, I love Raoul's name! I like the alternate spelling of his middle name. It just looks Cajun to me for some reason - not that I really know anything about Cajun culture, mind you. I'm always happy to see a photo of him.


Here's my photo contribution for the day. Élise doesn't like Gabriel to wear this shirt, although he seems to be enjoying the attention he's getting from it. Aubrey thinks it is "tacky" and Noé just wishes it was small enough to fit him. Zach says he wants one that says "Gift to the Mortals". Reid's only response was an eyeroll and "No comment."

Your other resin people's responses to Gabriel's shirt are both hysterical and typical for the characters they are! (My OT Morgan has one of those that says "Boys Rule"......not nearly as interesting as Gabriel's!) I'm going to take my foot out of my mouth now, and go sneak a peek at your Flicker.

 

ArtsyLaurie, thanks! Of course I am biased, but Tony is a great sculpt. There are a few of them around the thread. I just received mine in mid-November and he is still blank, but he's going to the artist in January. That is pretty cool that Tony was released on your birthday! My Tony's character has his birthday on 31 October lol.

Grouchy Gnome, it is most commonly spelled "Étienne" but I don't think there's anything at all wrong with your spelling of it. There's always spelling variations with names, and I think the way you've spelled it looks interesting. I never would have known it wasn't intentional if you hadn't said so!
and yes...Gabriel's shirt is a newborn size baby shirt from Target. The envelope neckline is always a dead giveaway. He is "borrowing" it from one of the reborn baby dolls. LOL I'm glad you enjoyed the other resin folks' response to it. They never seem to have a shortage of opinions on any subject.

I got Altairs body today! Finally after one year my Gnaeus have a own body the resinmatch is perfect and dealing with the previous owner was a pleasure.

SapphireStargazer Altairs wig is from Iplehouse (a wonderfull wig with a great fit on Gnaues big head - it looks better on him as on my Iplehouse boy- and amazing quality)... I don´t know where I got Maliks from (I suppose this was one of my last taobao order)

It was quite a simple pattern. Made out of stretch Jersey, but I thought it too plain so added the stretch lace to it. It was originally for an off topic resin girl but fit her well. I too find it hard to get motivated. With my new dolls I need to design and make some snow elf outfits. I have a hand made outfit done by a friend on my new Wind doll, but need to do others. Sigh. I will get there lol

Velvet. Thanks so much. She was a special version, originally Asian. I picked her up at a convention in the USA. She just kept calling to me. She didn't come with her original costume but I've seen it on the website. She is still available I think. Who is your gorgeous boy in the pic?
