May 20, 2022

    1. Today, Imomodoll just released the Fuwamo 1/6 Vinyl doll body for $80 usd. Edit: it looks like a vinyl version of their Sirius body.
You can also purchase the Defects 1/6 Vinyl Doll Head for $5 usd.

There is an event that is happening too from May 20th to June 20th. Free event head (2022 Summer Event 1/6 Vinyl Doll Head) if you spend $150 usd.

I am really excited! I am thinking about purchasing a few. Hopefully they expand on the skin color, would love one in tan <3

    2. I ordered two of the defect heads a short time ago and they're actually out for delivery today. Will update when they're here. :whee:

      • x 3
    3. Ooooh! I can't wait to see pictures! When did you order/how long was shipping time?

    4. Ordered April 20th and arrived exactly a month later on May 20th. Was shipped April 25th. Shipping for the two heads was $13 total to the US. I'll do a small review while I'm at it. :>

I ended up with one of each! Mainly wanted the 02 so happy I got both given it was a random thing. I believe both are semi-white. The 02 one has an obvious eye defect but if anything it looks like there's slightly too much in the right eye so I'm going to attempt to even it out one day with a scalpel. The 01 looks to have nothing wrong with it tbh. Maybe some tiny bubbles inside the head but nothing that looks detrimental to the structure. These heads are also a harder vinyl than the softer DD heads I've had before.

They both arrived in cute individual boxes and I was surprised that they also had simple COAs included too. The COAs don't indicate these as being 'defect' heads. Not sure if they're different from the full doll COAs.

Was also very pleasantly surprised to find that they use S hooks! I thought I would need to mod. These are my first 1/6 vinyl so maybe this is common for 1/6 vinyl?

And I threw the 02 on a WS 2D Doll yosd body to test. Fits really well! In photos the color match doesn't look bad either but irl it's more stark.

Overall I'm happy with these. Hoping they stick around since vinyl doesn't tend to do that in my crew but I figured them being 1/6 means I'm more likely to keep.

    5. Small update (sorry to double post).

Modded the eyes on the 02 to even out the shapes. Had to do both of them since the left one was a little smaller than the right after I rounded it out. Also cleaned out the eye wells a bit on both heads so eyes will fit better, cut out some excess vinyl flashing, and cut the little slot the S hook sits to be more pronounced for both as well.
Here's a before and after of the 02 eyes. This was my first time modding vinyl.

And I put the 02 on a Guard Love body (also WS so also doesn't match because it seems all my extra bodies are always WS for some reason). The neck is slightly too big on the Guard Love, the 2D (which the 01 is on) fits much better.

    6. Oh wow! Great job on the fix! Thanks for the update and pictures. They look so adorable <3

    7. I'm hoping others get these cuties too. Really curious about that body especially. These two heads have been my muses lately. I've now done my first vinyl mouth mod on the 01 and styled a wig for him. Still a wip but his name is Ducky. :XD:

    8. Gonna poke this topic to say that Imomo has a listing on their TaoBao right now for one of these, and there's a dark tan option. They apparently are charging $16 before shipping- there's a $1 deposit. However the catch is that they need to sell 300 units.

      • x 3
    9. Darn - I missed the dark tan one.
Still waiting on mine from My Dollection - I paid for a face-up, so I'm in for a bit of a wait. These pictures are great, though. I'm excited to get my doll! :dance

    10. Been working on a faceup for my lil imomo vinyl doll and wanted to show her off a little! Her face is only like 2/3rds of the way done (ran out of MSC LOL) and the wig and eyes belong to a different doll of mine (turning her into a doll version of an OC and haven't gotten around to getting her her final wig and eyes yet orz) but I'm so happy with this lil doll so far!! Got her a while back, a tan guru sculpt back when they were doing the preorder for 'em.
Her legs and head always wanna fall off but for a doll that cost like, less than 20 bucks off their taobao it's hard to complain! I'm particularly happy with the tan, I was worried it'd be lighter than expected from photos but it's a nice solid medium brown in real life! Finding clothes for her can be a bit tricky though because of the wider hips, but most yosd dresses work really well and are very cute~

    12. I'm currently attempting to buy a 1/4 Imomo from Taobao. I want the chubby body and found a listing claiming to have one in stock. I also bought a surprise head. Will be interesting to see what actually arrives, I had a pretty hard time finding this stuff. My aunt wants me to make a mini me out of it.

      • x 2
    13. Well, I successfully ordered what added up to a full doll via Yoybuy.
Won't work for the mini me, she's just a little too big, but I rather like her so she'll stay with me.
I feel very lucky that the random surprise head I bought actually works for the body, because the listing did not specify scale. I'm also pretty sure this isn't actually the body I attempted to buy, but it is a 1/4 Imomodoll body and I've got a doll out of it so I'm going to consider this a win.
The whole doll cost under 50 USD, it's pretty impressive for the price.
I sort of ruined whatever savings I achieved by carefully combing through listings by choosing expensive shipping (I was pretty impatient), but even with Fedex shipping it was still cheaper than going through a dealer.
She really is big though, she's got quite a presence.

    14. I have been really really interested in these dolls... I see them through Jane's doll land sometimes at around $100 for the 1/4? And I just kind of fade out because I find that dealer has no information about anything and I don't really know what I'm dealing with. I try to google and then start to get discouraged. I have become nearly illiterate in navigating this hobby these days :sweat
I guess if other places sell them even cheaper then they really are that little through Jane's doll land?
My heart wants a cute little tan color anime doll so bad :XD: I think maybe I'll lurk here so I might see pic spam.

      • x 2
    15. @AlisonVonderland With Imomodoll you really have to get comfortable with Taobao, it seems. The dealers all ask more than they cost on there. Imomo's very own English site prices things higher than on their Taobao store.

      • x 2
    16. I will definitely bear it in mind! I still can't believe a doll can get so cheap. They sure are cute. Mostly the body shapes and color option appealing to me. Even $100 is already half the price of an Obitsu so... yeah :whee:
Not that I need more dolls. I'll be watching and hoping for picspams :XD:

    17. @AlisonVonderland - if you're willing to pay the dealer mark-up, I have nothing but praise for Jane's Dolland. I have purchased several Penny's Box dolls and an Imomo 1/4 doll Miko from her, and I paid for her (very reasonable, IMHO) face-up. She's quick to ship, and her face-ups? Well, see for yourself:

This is the basic anime face-up. My only request was "easy on the blush." I purchased my first Imomo Doll from My Dollection, and I vastly prefer Jane's Dolland. Much better organized, and she's very responsive, especially on Instagram.

Editing to add: she's in California in the US, and she doesn't do free shipping that I'm aware of, so keep that in mind if you're outside the US (shipping, customs...)

    18. Behold, my questionable anime faceup skills! :XD:
My god, that style does not come naturally to me. Technical abilities aside, I feel I should've maybe done bolder outlines around the eyes? Add white? Hmm... Oh, well...I gave her a surprised expression because the body has a tendency to lean back in a manner that reminds me of being startled and I figured I should run with that. I also have exactly one wig that fits her and one pair of eyes that is big enough:lol:

    19. I think she looks nice @EagleVision1999 :D it's a very retro shojo look with your wispy lashes in my opinion. There are a lot of different ways to paint anime styles. I think it's fun to see different approaches.

@MaleficentMrsofEvil thanks for the input. I know people have been very happy with Jane's but I don't especially want to do business with a dealer who is not listing proper info on pages and cryptically says "more info on YouTube" (which I tried to check at one point and still found it super unhelpful). Not my kind of experience. And I have no interest in buying faceups either.
My interests is pretty purely out of curiosity right now. I am just enjoying seeing these for the time being :aheartbea (I'm also notoriously picky about anime head sculpts that are flat irl)
      *Back to lurking*

    20. @EagleVision1999 I think that's a stunning face-up, but I feel you on the "technical abilities" comment. Who knew anime face-ups were so freaking hard? I mean, besides people who paint them. I have one blank Obitsu Gretel47, and I'm seriously considering paying someone else to do her face-up. I'm still struggling with resin faces. Anime is a whole new level for me. But yours is gorgeous.

@AlisonVonderland fair enough! I think part of the issue is that English is a second language for Jane, but you can never be too cautious or careful in this hobby with its notoriously long wait times. Not even going to start a list of who I would side-eye right now, cuz that list is getting longer and longer...

      • x 2
    21. Thank you both. I will see how she looks with anime eyes before I change anything anyways, I think part of it is that regular glass eyes don't complement the look.

In other news, I did some modifications! I filed down some of the pegs for a tighter fit and I opted to string the head instead of using the head peg. I did it because I could not get a tight enough fit and thus could pose the head very well.
I'm sure others have done the same modification, but I don't have a guide at hand, so here's my attempt at one:
I had to file a groove into her neck hole so the s-hook had somewhere to sit but in general this isn't a permanent mod. I used regular 3,5mm elastic for this that I had left over from stringing bjd.
The tension made it a bit difficult to re-insert the arms, but now that they're in they're fine. It was a bit difficult as well, to put the bust part back onto the rest of the doll, because ( I think) the bust skeleton part sits slightly higher now. Not a lot, just enough to make the bust-torso connection a little bit more snug. Will keep an eye out wether introducing tension will impact the doll over time.

Lastly, I like Jane's Youtube channel. I might've even considered buying from her if I wasn't from Europe. But. Imomodoll simply isn't worth that much. They're nice dolls, certainly, but they also (at least the ver.1 versions) tend to be project dolls from what I've seen, and experienced myself. I feel like I'd be very hesistant to permanently modify a doll that cost me over a 100$ (with shipping). I paid less that half than she charges for a whole doll.

    22. Double post, whee! Putting proper anime eyes into her did indeed do wonders for her looks. I bought them from someone in my local community so I could get them quickly. I wasn't picky at all so I'm glad they suit her.

    23. I bought a couple of the 1/6 Imomo girls from Jane's Dollland. I'm someone who is willing to pay extra for good, reliable service. I want the peace of mind that comes from a trusted dealer. I found it hard to get basic info on the dolls. Eye size, wig size...things most other sites list, so I can definitely understand the frustration. I eventually found what I was looking for but it involved a lot of digging on various sites.

Anyway, I received my girls about a week ago. They are really cute! I ordered a Toppi and Kira in chocolate. Very beautiful color! Kira has the cutest elf ears. I just adore her. I haven't had much time to customize them. It's been raining a lot. I'm still waiting on their eyes and wigs to arrive. These two are my first anime dolls and I'm excited to get to work on them.

@EagleVision1999 Your girl is adorable! I love her expression and the anime eyes are cute. Thank you for posting the mod you did! My girls also have floppy heads and was considering what I could do to fix the issue.

    24. Yes it's definitely not my agenda to poo-poo Jane's doll land! It just doesn't work for me the way it's set up currently. I'm pretty easy to talk out of buying things, so small deterrents at this point usually let me rest in apathy. :XD: I'm very tired and older than I ought to be at my age. Too much change at once.

@EagleVision1999 cute!! I love her new eyes! She's perfect :D

Oh that's exciting @Stokiaci ! I hope you have so much fun with them and show them off eventually!

    25. So I actually completed the mini me for my aunt...
I wasn't completely sold on the head mold when I first saw it, but I think it works. I think this slightly less anime-ish face was easier to paint, and I also looked up faceups specifically done on this face beforehand which helped. She'll go home to my aunt at the end of the month.
I'm also not sure what skin color this is, looks nice though.

    26. @EagleVision1999 She's super cute! I love the red glasses and the overalls are adorable.

My eyes shipped! Still waiting on my wigs to ship.

Meanwhile, I have made no progress on these girl. I've been so busy with work and going back and forth to the doctor. I have been crocheting in my spare time so they have a few accessories but not much else.

    27. oh yay, i’m so glad there’s a relatively recent thread somewhere on DoA about imomodoll! I just got Rika & Maru, but i’m having an absolute heck of a time getting their head caps off! these are my first vinyls, and even my couple of resins that have S hooks attached to their head caps are easier to get off. Should i try heating them a little or something? Is this normal for vinyl?

    28. For the vinyl dolls I've handled, the headcaps come off easily by squeezing. But yes, sometimes vinyl pieces can be a little harder and stubborn. A little heat with a blow drier or heat gun on low heat setting for 30 sec to a minute or so will make it soft and easier to manipulate, and no harm to it. Take care to not touch the hot tool directly to the vinyl.

    29. hair dryer did the trick! i think too my issue was that the vinyl was stone cold - i live in the cold north and i opened the box immediately after bringing them inside :XD: once i went back with the hair dryer they were room temp but i also have weak hands so the bit of extra heat was definitely needed.

    30. I'm helping my boyfriend put together his first bjd and I wasn't sure if anyone here knew if dollzone peach or pink would match imomodoll cream?

      • x 1
    31. Erm, I'll let you know in 3 months or so when she shows up? (Ordered the new 70 cm female body in peach.)

    32. Last year, I bought a 1/6 Imomodoll to customize into one of my favorite video game characters...and I'm now getting around to actually putting his outfit together!

Because of the material, I'm worried about staining. Does anyone have advice for lining clothing to prevent staining or for bodysuits that fit the 1/6 size (and are in stock somewhere)? :sweat

    33. And not I'm on the right topic!
I bought a doll, but it turned out to have a problem: one leg was not fully connected at the knee joint. I wanted to fix it, but I don't know how. Has anyone taken these dolls apart? Is it possible to pull the leg out of the joint and then put it back in, or is the leg solid and cannot be disassembled? I'm afraid I'll break it.
I was told to pull the leg out, but the structure seems whole and does not come out. Has anyone taken apart such dolls? Please help, show a photo or video of how to do it. I really want to save my doll!

      • x 2
    34. It's not whole, it's definitely able to be taken apart. It's probably just stuck in there real good - you can twist it while pulling to see if that helps any, but just holding the shin and pulling firmly will remove it. I'd suggest just try pushing it further in though? You can stand it on a flat surface, hold the doll by it's thighs/hips, and push down firmly so the weight is distributed evenly across both sides. It should help see if the legs are actually even.

Tbh, the quality control is a little iffy, so it could just be "like that". I have a shin bone like that on one of my dolls, and the other's shin's outer plastic is too short as well.

I've popped these badboys out a LOT since they also can just fall out as well if you're posing them, so I can confirm they're not solid and it wont break if you pull on it LOL

    35. Vinyl dolls are friction-fit - hit it with a hairdryer until everything feels soft and squishy, and then either wriggle it apart or push it together more.

    36. I just placed an order for a 1/4 Imomo Doll from Jane’s Doll Land! I’m so excited!! :chibi

The specs: “Mie” head sculpt, “Chocolate” skin tone, and a “Large” bust

      She’s gonna be such a cutie! :D

    37. Update:

My girl is arriving tomorrow, and I had some extra money, so I decided to buy her a bunch of new stuff so she’ll be ready to customize when she comes home:

      — A rainbow-colored faux fur wig
      — A pair of glittery purple eyes
      — Two extra heads, the “Tiamat” and “Lucifer” sculpts, both of which are 1/4 Imomo Doll and match her skin tone
      — A pack of acrylic markers for her faceup

((And I already have plenty of fabric at home to make her some cute basic clothing~))

I have a lot more ideas for further customizing her, but this is more than enough for now! I’m so grateful that I could afford all of these goodies on my budget!

      • x 4
    38. Yay!
I'm not sure what you're using for sealant, but last time I used acrylic marker on a faceup it also dissolved the sealant...So I haven't gone back to using it. Logic dictates that it's basically just acrylic paint in marker form, but I have a feeling it's not, and i've been too lazy to look it up ever again LOL

    39. I just received the imomodol I ordered for my daughter! It's her first "collectible doll" (she's got few monster high included 2 repainted ones). It's her 10th birthday so I didn't want to take a resin bjd. I have a very few experience with vinyl dolls but I love the line of imomodoll's body. It's a 1/6 Maru and she's very cute. But removing head cap is a hell! I saw the trick with hear dryier (just didn't experimented it yet) I hope it will come easier this way WITHOUT hurting the face up...

      • x 3
    40. I just offloaded one of mine onto my younger cousin (14), and bought her a second one too. She loves them! I definitely think they’re a good kid friendly option.

For the hair dryer, it’ll be fine as long as you just point it at the back of the head. I recommend twisting the headcap a bit to the side so that it hangs over the edges a bit, and then using the hairdryer on the back of the head (don’t point down to the top of the head, point straight at the back of the head). It makes it squishy enough in a safe area and the edges overhanging make it easier to grip.

      • x 3
    41. Thank you for your advice ! it will help a lot!

Totally agreed ! they're cute, not very breakable, easy to manipulate and YoSD size is a good size to start. I'm sure my girl will love it too, and i'm very excited to see her open her birthday present :kitty2
