IMda Modigli 30.5cm discussion part 3

Hi guys I’m not sure where to post this so I’ll try my luck here. I kinda need a little advice.


One of my grail dolls is a 4.3 (or 5.2) imda girl in the Coco resin. I think it’s super unlikely that they’ll make one tho and it’s hard to find doll makers that make tan dolls.


Should I go ahead and get one of their 3.0 tan girls instead. Angélique it’s so darn tempting

 

@A_Zuri I think if you know what you want, you should just wait for it. I don't see any reason why they won't at some point release a 4.3 or 5.2 in Choco resin - it just might be a while since they release fewer 4.3 and 5.2 than 2.6 and 3.0, and not every release has a tan option.

 

iMda are very responsive to private DMs and comments on instagram @A_Zuri. I suggest pinging them on there and they will probably let you know if they're working on a choco 4.3 girl any time soon!

Edit: So I heard back from imda and it turns out they’re not planning on making a coco 4.3 girl anytime soon. I am a little bummed but on the bright side I can get Angelique without worrying that I won’t have room in my budget for another doll

So, confession time... I bought this little girl in May 2020 and due to a variety of circumstances just never got around to doing anything with her. I was very ill, and she didn't fit the vision I had for her, so I just left her in her box.

Now I finally sent her off to get painted... Meet Leonie! She's a tawny Amellia 3.0


I'm getting her different eyes and hair, probably. I haven't had a long-haired doll in forever... I've forgotten how much of a pain all that hair is, haha.

 

@Lelite Leonie is a sweetheart! I love her Tawny Amelia is one of my grails; you styled her beautifully and her faceup is adorable. I'm guilty of the same thing with my 3.0 Simonne sitting in her box since 2021... But taking our time in the hobby makes it all the more enjoyable in the long term Leonie definitely motivates me to work on my girls! Thank you for sharing! And I hope you recovered well

 

@nancy_schroeder_ca - You know what? You're right, she does! I forgot I had this in ye ol' doll box. I'm thinking of getting her some very very dark eyes, almost black. She's based on a character of mine (for now) who has very dark eyes, and these ones are really nice in low light, but in bright lights they look really "dreamy" because they don't have a pupil. So want to try something a little bit more focused.

@Dayme - Thank you! Yeah when I saw the Amellia from that release, I knew I had to buy her, even took on an extra commission to cover it. Hope you have lots of fun returning to your Simonne (or maybe the others? ). And I'm... recovering. I've been blessed with a metabolic disorder from my grandmother that doesn't even have a name. Not fatal, but it's deeply unpleasant to sort out. Lots of pain, dietary restrictions and propensity for injury, but I'm trying to take it one step at a time.

 

Seems like a 4.3 Manon is up next on the iMda website, so no 3.0 preorder for a little bit. I kind of regret not getting Coco... but that's okay, she'll come back

In the meantime, I got another outfit from the Chinese maker 'Akoms' for my dolls. It's adorable! Although the hat doesn't fit Élodie's big head, it looks cute as a little hood too

Leonie got new eyes, hair and dress... I'm spoiling this girl something fierce.



Also long-shot, but has anyone tried MSD shoes on the 3.0 girls? There's a pair of running shoes I absolutely adore but they're only available for MDDs. I know they would look way bigger, but I think it could be... okay in a super-stylized way? Maybe? I only have MSD-sized boots at home and it's hard to tell. Like, it's not TERRIBLE, but I can't tell if not having all that material around the ankle would just make it obviously over-sized.

 

The 3.0 dolls have the same size feet as most yosds, even though the body and head are bigger. So MSD shoes would be too big. Keep looking -- there's lots of great shoes out there! An Etsy search is really useful.

 

Oh I'm well aware, I got both iMda (currently wearing my old Yo shoes) and MSD's at home, but the MSDs all wear boots. I tried the smaller ones on the iMdas and I think they look okay, in a cartoony kind of way... but I wasn't sure if not having the extra fabric around the ankle would ruin the look. Believe me I've scoured everywhere... these shoes are MDD only shoes, and they would've been perfect.

Also I've talked myself into getting a choco Elodie, when I can/when she comes up next.

@Dayme - Lol, I'm waiting for a release of Modigli in choco too! She's probably the last doll I really want to complete my collection. I mean, there are others I'd like to own but She's a have to own.

@Stokiaci same here! Choco Modigli is one of the original dolls that made me fall for iMda sculpts in general. If I was able to get her, especially with her stock makeup from March 2019 I'd be content! Although I still want a tawny Amellia and a NS Dorothy before calling the colllection "complete" hehe

On another note, I was finally able to secure a slot with my dream local faceup artist for my Simonne! Off she goes~

 

OMG, Modigli is being re-released in choco skin! I'm over the moon. I definitely plan in bringing her home.

 

OMG she is so cute in choco! And hehe seeing all these posts from a few months ago about wanting a choco Modigli... You guys got your wish! That's so cool!

Leonie is soo cute. I should post more pictures of my Amellia.

I placed my order for Modigli. I also order the heart hands and the pretty blue eyes. I love how they look with the choco skin. I just need some clothes and a wig.

 

I'm very tempted to snag a Choco Modigli, plus her faceup this time around is so adorable it's a bit of a bad timing for me finance wise, however. How I wish iMda did layaways >.> At least I can debate about it until October 5th!

 

Just wanna squeee a little about the ADORBS bunny ears for the 3.0 girls, with the new Amellia! I am obviously not getting one (though I was sooooo tempted by the bunny ears... Leonie no bunny though ) but this one is just so ridiculously cute. Especially love how you get three ears with each pair of bunny ears - both ears sticking up, and then one that's half-folded.

Lol, I had to tell myself I don't need twins! Plus, I'm still waiting for Modigli.

 

I loved the wig and the dress so so much! too bad they were both sold out by the time I saw the new preorder oh well! I'm currently working on my Simonne - she returned from the faceup artist in October and I'm gathering her parts. Then, I'm thinking of venturing into the 4.3 realm so best not to get tempted by Amellia for now!

 

@Stokiaci thankfully I am not at all a twin collector so the thought did not cross my mind. I do keep meaning to buy the new heart hands in Tawny skin so I was just a twinge tempted by the ears + hands but... I'm saving up to either get a really nice wig for Leonie OR for getting an Elodie (whenever she's available) so I was able to talk myself out of it in the end.

@Dayme - eeee so excited for Simonne! She's a bit more rare than some of the other girls. I keep staring at the 4.3 ones but the fact that they're not really available in darker skintones kinda makes them a no-go for me. I would LOVE a tan Valerie or a grey Manon!

I also just received a cardigan from oddprincess on etsy and it is SO CUTE. She makes a lot of (really pricy) outfits for the 3.0 girls and man, I tell you guys, this cardigan is so worth it.

 

@Dayme - Omg, I guess I never paid much attention to Simonne. She's so adorable with her cheeks! I can't wait to see yours. I don't need her! I really don't but my gosh she's so cute.

@Lelite - I'm not either but the newest Amellia is so cute, I definitely considered it. I would really prefer a different face. Then I'll have a trio of girls.

 

@Lelite oh OddPrincess is so utterly talented and makes the most beautiful iMda outfits! The price point is a bit steep for me, but please do share the end result of your dolls wearing her garments!

Also thank you everyone for the kind comments about Simonne. I was so excited about the faceup pictures the artist sent to me! I'll include them in a spoiler here for anyone interested - I initially intended to make her a blond girl but seeing her come to life after the faceup, I see her with a black wig! It's so surprising how artists can completely change the atmosphere of a doll through their faceup style Getting an iMda custom painted is a first for me - my other girls have default faceup, or were bought secondhand with custom faceups already applied. But the whole experience was really tons of fun! I might order more blank dolls in the future~

Awe, look at the little pout! I love the feathery lower eyelashes.

And I actually find that particularly with iMda sculpts, the face-up can make a dramatic difference on the doll. They're just so versatile that with just a bit of skilled application of paint, they can be completely transformed into whatever the owner wants.

 

Hello! I just got an Elodie in choco, secondhand! She's on the older (single joint) body though so I'm thinking of hybriding her on another 1/5 body. Here she is wearing some of my knits!

 

@Jextia congrats on getting choco Elodie, that doll is a gem and a cutie and good luck with hybridizing! I having seen many iMda hybrids around. But their bobble heads would probably fit a 1/5 perfectly. Also those knits are adorable!

I'll be honest, Momo really tempts me a lot. But from what I understand they don't do layaways at iMda, so no way I could afford her without that right now.

 

I just received the shipping notice for my Choco Modigli! Hopefully, she'll arrive quickly and safely.

Hello ! I'm waiting for my first 2 Imda 3.0 ! I ordered Amellia in 2022 november, and I just find Modigli, brand new, on the second hand market, in my country ! She will be at home this week. I'm really happy and cannot wait to dress them. Maybe they will be sisters ? Mmmh.
Oh, and I have a question. There are some eyes on Imda's website which are between anime and classic style (last brown ones for Amellia for example). I love them. Do you know if we can find and purchase this style anywhere else ?

As for the eyes, I believe recently the eyes have always been imda’s custom resin eyes to go with every release… which I believe are limited to the same order period as the doll itself? I think they might get re-released when the dolls do but to be honest I haven’t been keeping track. I did buy a sort of similar pair on etsy for my Amellia, I’ll try and find a photo tomorrow.

ETA: Here's a photo of the Etsy eyes. They weren't quite what I was looking for so Leonie isn't keeping them, but they do look very nice.

 

Have you seen the new iMda 3.0 Dorothy being previewed on the site? I love how they styled her SO much! Might be my turn to scoop a new iMda girl after a long time (๑˃ᴗ˂)ﻭ her faceup is gorgeous!

 

I know, right? She's seriously making me question whether I want her. I don't THINK I do, I'm pretty set on my next girl being a choco Elodie or Coco (yea I know I just missed Coco...), but that eye and lip make-up on Dorothy is to die for.

I'm also impatiently waiting on Leonie's new (hopefully, final) hair so I can take photos of her cute new miniature fox that I bought.

So today, I ended up pulling the trigger on the Dorothy head only option! got her with her amazing faceup too〜
Made the most of the order and also snagged the Tirin&Kattern outfit, and the heart hands. Not sure when I'll place another order on iMda and I'd been wanting those heart hands since their release - they're just too cute!

 

@Dayme Eeee that's so exciting! Is she going to be sharing bodies with someone then? What color did you get her in?

I also keep on looking to order the heart hands every time they're available in tawny, but never pull the trigger. I really should, and also get a pair for my eventual choco girl, so her and Leonie can do "heart friends" photos ><

Speaking of Leonie, the wig I bought for her a few months ago finally came in, and you guys, I've NEVER had a doll wig that I actually didn't want to take off the doll like this one. Usually I take it off to avoid staining, and for ease of storage. But I love this one so much, I can't bring myself to remove it. (It's also a perfect *tight* fit on her head with the silicone wig cap, so there's also THAT consideration, but it's like it was made for her). I've been looking EVERYWHERE to get an angora wig in her size, and with all of the wig makers, it's either for minifees or for big 9" heads. None of the makers wanted to take a commission for such an odd size without me sending the head to them. Randomly found this one on Legenddoll for a super reasonable price and added it to my order, hoping they weren't lying about it fitting a 19.5 cm head.

She has SO MANY TOYS now askjkahfskjsa. She needs some brothers and sisters to share with pronto.

 

I bailed on Dorothy (she was just too lippy for me and her nose too petite ) although I was severely tempted as overall she was sweet. I did get the green eyes and the short peach wig though for when they hopefully re issue Collette. So the wait is on for both 3.0 Collette in normal skin and Nicole in choco or both in choco depending on face up options.

I wrote to iMda to ask when they may be released and was told not in the earlier part of this year. The schedule for the second half of the year is still being adjusted but it is likely they will release 3.0 Collette or Nicole (including choco option) then. iMda are extremely responsive if you write a query. Lovely to deal with.

 

I decided to write to them as well, and they said they're planning on releasing 3.0 Elodie in the summer (barring unusual circumstances), and she will be available in choco! Eeeeeee I'm so excited, been waiting for this girl for ages. She'll be a distantly-related dolly version of my webcomic MC!

 

So it's 3.0 Angelique or Collette for May release. No choco but I'm nabbing a Collette if I can. Hopefully later in the year that Nicole 3.0 will be in either choco or tawny.

 

I'm always tempted by Angelique! She's such a cutie, but I think I'll pass this time. I'd love to get her in choco. I'm also planning on ordering a 4.3 girl. I've been thinking about a big sister for my girls for awhile.

My Modigli still needs a faceup. Work has taken up so much of my free time. Hopefully, I'll be able to do it soon. Does MSC go bad? I've had mine for a few years. Haha.

 

Same! I always wonder if I want to get Angelique, but I just can’t think of a character for her…

Also, I’ve been told that MSC apparently can go bad/settle/whatever it does. But mine seemed fine when I tested it after like… a decade. Seemed to spray and dry just fine. But I don’t know. Maybe it’s something you can’t see.

 

Held fast on my Colette 3.0 order as apparently she will be released again shortly with possibly more colour options and clothes, wig, eyes etc. Crossing my fingers!

 

My iMda Dorothy head arrived from the April pre-order. I also got the cute outfit she released with, and the heart hands! The faceup is gorgeous ~ im so pleased!
Although all the eyes I had in mind for Dorothy don't fit her eye socket... that's never happened with me for iMda dolls! Normally, literally any eyes I planned out for them fit perfectly and I just plop them in when I get the doll. Now I'm not too sure what to do about her, no body and no eyes yet

 

Next up is Nicole ... choco for me. Typical timing. Just ordered a 2.2 Collette and the doll I really really want comes up the very next month. Could have done with a few months to save up but hey ho.
