IMda Modigli 30.5cm discussion part 3

My new Soom Imda 3.0 Modigli arrived yesterday! Her eyes are slightly smaller than Amellia's eyes (16mm) so these 14mm Mako AS-009 eyes seem better for her. She is modeling the dress and bonnet I made for her using Liberty Tana Lawn Kashmir Yellow.

 

Oh, she is adorable! I love the dress you made too. She has a great face.

 

Imda 3.0 Amellia has new 16mm Mako AM-011 eyes. I always like the Mako eyes best and wish they had more light colors.

What size Mako eyes did you get for Amellia?

 

Amellia has 16mm AM-011 Green Mako eyes. Modigli has 14mm AS-009 Blue Mako eyes (see photo above).

I tried several 14mm and 15mm eyes for Elodie this morning but her eye sockets are much larger than Amelia or Modigli's eye sockets. I finally decided to get closer to her facial coloring with a Strawberry Blond size 7-8 mohair wig and 17mm Guardian Masterpiece Soft Glass eyes. Her forehead is high, so the slightly longer bangs work well. I think her eye color/positioning and softer wig color now give her a younger sweeter look.

 

Thanks for your suggestions Nancy! Our dolls can always be improved with a little trial and error.

 

@Oliveoil I love your Odelie! Is it correct she has 18 mm eyes, that is what it says on the Soom web site but it seems so large?

Hi everyone, not sure if this is the right thread for iMda3.0 doll discussions? I thought Modigli is one the sculpts. :B

I recently acquired a cream white Mabelle and completed her faceup today. She is called Lucille and she is still waiting for her wigs to arrive. Hoping to find more yo sd sized sewing patterns for her! Painting her was such a breeze and she is so cute. Definitely one of my best purchases this year!

Hello 3.0 owners! I'm currently eyeing the gorgeous Angélique that is in pre-order on the new iMda website. I always said I would wait for a Modigli rerelease but the Angélique sculpt is just so... angelic

I was hoping to know what your thoughts were on putting a Blythe size hat on a 3.0 head; do you think it would fit? I understand the 3.0 wig size is about 7-8" which is much smaller than a Blythe, but I'm so in love with all those cute handmade hats on Etsy and really hope it could fit on an iMda T^T

What sort of hat are you looking at? Is it the crochet sort or the cute fur animal type?

I am actually in the midst of restarting my sewing of bunny and kitty bonnets for bjds and have an alpaca bunny hat in 8-9” size in the works. I’m thinking if your girl wears a poofy mohair wig then perhaps she could fit an 8-9” hat alright.

Here’s my in-progress 8-9” bunny bonnet on my 3.0 head, which looks a little oversized already:


Blythe heads are 10-11” and their hats might be a little loose on a 7-8” head, but who knows!

 

The animal bonnets such as the one you made were exactly what I had in mind. Wow, that's an adorable dolly & hat! It's the same style as the one I was eyeing which is Blythe sized, but as you said, it might be quite huge on a 3.0 head



I'm thinking it could be cute if the oversized hat was hanging a bit in the back as a hood, but those are pricy hats to be making such wagers! I wish I could find a hat maker that tailors for 3.0 sizes. Thanks so much for your picture though! It was really helpful to see what I'm getting myself into.

 

A Blythe hat would be too big for a iMdadoll (sadly as I have some adorable ones!). Their head is 7-8 and Blythe’s is 9-10. I have Angelique, she’s my favourite sculpt and is quite adorable

 

@kayjay oh I just pre-ordered Angélique from the new iMda website opening event :') I'm so excited to get her as she will be my first 3.0 I've owned the 5.2 before but the size didn't work for me... I've just decided to venture into 1/6 dolls so I'm still quite clueless with sizing. Would you say the 3.0 fits most yosd clothing and footwear?

As for the hat, I've resigned myself to scouring Taobao for yosd-sized animal hats but it's proven quite hard!

 

My Modigli wears an 8" -9" wig , and some Blythe hats would look ok, I think. A huge fur hat with big fluffy ears might be overpowering.

 

3.0 is taller and very pear-shaped compared to the stockier YoSD body, but most clothing will work just fine except maybe fitted pants. Footwear is typically fine

 

The 3.0 is my favourite size but she’s bigger and a different shape to a YoSd. A 2.6 is closer in size but I prefer the feel of a 3.0, they’re small but still feel a nice substantial size to hold. There are patterns to make clothes for them on Etsy (by Tirin and Katten) and also clothes and shoes if you search. Are you a member of the Facebook group? It’s quite active and links etc shared on there. The group is called Imda Doll. Also, hats in YoSd size may be too small depending on their stretchiness as they wear 7-8 in wigs.

 

thank you both for the sizing tips! I've been having so much fun searching about YoSD and comparing sizes. I'm so excited to get her and I will have to checkout that Facebook group! I love Tirin and Katten but making my own clothing from patterns would be a big challenge for me! Maybe I'll try it out though ^^

I have everything to learn about these dolls, so please feel free to enlighten me please.
And in the meantime I am going to go back through all the discussion threads about this type of doll and I will hopefully learn a lot there too

 

oh @Jane I'm so surprised to hear you went ahead and got an iMda girl as well please share what sculpt will be joining your collection!

I am still waiting on my first 3.0 to be shipped from iMda, I will be hitting the 2month mark in 2 weeks, so hopefully I'm lucky and she makes her way to me soon ^^ I'm hoping iMda rereleases Élodie next, I'm dying for her to join my little resin family

So to cut a long story short, I have a tan iMda 3.0 Odelie and Kathryn doesn't! Thank you so much Kathryn ((hugs))

She arrived today and I am utterly bowled over by her. I hope that you are going to be just as bowled over by your Angelique when she finally arrives.
This doll has a lovely heft to her, and the resin is so smooth......but you probably already know that from your other iMda dolls.
I am in a daze about this new doll....she is just so beautiful.
I so hope you don't have to wait much longer for your new girl {{fingers crossed}}


My poor DT Soyu will have to wait a little longer for her styling to continue as I need to go where inspiration and delight is taking me......and it is taking me right down an iMda rabbit hole at the moment!!!!
I enclose a quick phone snap of her from this afternoon; I am in the middle of sewing her a little dress using the Tirin and Katten cap sleeve pattern.

That dress is adorable! I love the fabric you used. I am tempted to get a pattern from Tirin & Katten as well now. I purchased a bunch of fabric, lace and tiny buttons weeks ago, but since Angélique has yet to come home I am only browsing online for inspiration... I am so antsy to get her!

Is your Odélie wearing 18mm or 16mm eyes? I also love her faceup very much, is it the factory one? ^^ Thanks for sharing her

 

Seems like Simonne is next for the 3.0 preorder; I was really hoping for Élodie but I guess that will come later on. Oh well more time to save up

@Dayme.....thank you for the pre-order news. I am certainly safe from itchy fingers this time round as Simonne is not on my wish list........but how long can you keep 'safe'???

And I think I have 14mm eyes in her (I preferred a slightly smaller eye in her) but as I was just dipping into the eyes I already had a home, I can't be 100% sure about the size.
And yes....this is a factory face-up.

 

Does anyone in the thread happen to own any Mia Doll/Miabe sculpts (soo, ginger, baby lamb, etc.) and able to give opinions on the proportions in comparison to the iMda 3.0 size? I'm trying to add one of Mia's sculpts to my collection, but the heads are 6-7" and I'm worried about them looking awkward or disproportionate together... Since I haven't owned any YoSD sculpts before it's still hard for me to visualize them. But I remember from my SD-collecting days that the jump between 7-8 to 8-9 heads was quite big. Any help is appreciated, if you happen to own a variety of YoSD dollies I'd appreciate hearing opinions ^^

Jane - I’m so pleased Odelie has settled in well and is being very spoilt with some lovely clothes

 

My Modigli has an 8 1/4" head, and is kind of a bobble head. Putting a size smaller head on would probably look okay, just different.

 

@kayjay I LOVE her!!! Thank you so much for letting her come and live with me.......and she is just so much fun to sew for.
I am also really enjoying her size, she is so much smaller than what I usually play with.

 

I don't recall if I ever posted my iMda girl. She's an Amellia in tawny. I adore her and hope to get a Choco Modigli as her friend.

 

@Stokiaci Your Amelia is gorgeous and the tawny skin looks so beautiful in that picture! I always thought tawny skin was a bit deeper. Also regarding Modigli, I saw iMda Doll post that they are preparing for a 'bisque' 3.0 Modigli release soon... I also hope they will rerelease Modigli at that time! She is my favourite sculpt.

On another note, I received my Angélique earlier this week and am head over heels for her She's my first 3.0 and I really love the size. Sadly the package which contains her wig + accessories seems stuck in transit so she's living her bald life for now... I'm excited to take pictures when it arrives though

 

Also, is anyone thinking of ordering 3.0 Nicole? I'm safe this time around, but she looks adorable in her promo pictures and that outfit by Fruit is so cute!

 

@Dayme Thank you! I was surprised how light twany is, it's such a beautiful color. I try to keep up with releases to make sure I don't miss Modigli. I love that girl so much and she's the one that made me want an iMda girl. I almost settled for the normal skin version but I know I wouldn't be as happy with her. I really only want her in choco. She's my favorite too! I can't wait to see your Angélique. She's another cutie that tempts me.

Thankfully, I'm safe from Nicole but she adorable.

 

I finally assembled my Angélique I'm so happy with her, although its hard to show how cute she is in person through pictures. I might be adding a secondhand 3.0 Élodie to my family in the coming weeks; she (along with Modigli) were my initial grails, before I ended up splurging on Angélique and Simonne... These little girls are quite addicting!

 

Hello! This thread has been quiet for a while; a lot of cute new dolls were released and I didn't keep track as I used to! Has anyone grown their collection since then?

I've recently picked up my girl to switch her into a cute Winter outfit, so I thought I'd share her on here My darling girl Élodie:

Oh man, iMda is really making me have to stand by my words this soon, huh? I sent off my Amellia to get a face-up, finally (whom I got in 2020...) and told myself "well next time Angelique comes up, I'll consider buying her"... and then two days later, I see that Angelique is up for preorder!

Anyone have the new and the old body girls (or boys) they can compare? The new body's measurements suggest that they're the literally same size (sans slightly bigger butt) but it looks noticeably taller to me with this new Angelique.
