Aesthetics Ilven’s journal | updated 30.11 | almost done

Oct 30, 2024

    1. Hello everyone! I've always worked on projects alone and never really shared them. However, I stumbled upon this journal section and thought I'd give it a go.

Here's the journal for my latest doll project.

      ---

Doll: This is a Custom House Ange Ai Sunny from 2010, purchased via the DOA marketplace. She arrived with a faceup and a charming green wig. While I adore her current look, I plan to alter it to better suit the character I have in mind.

Character: Ilven is a nice 5-year-old girl, the daughter of an elf woman and a human man. She primarily exhibits human characteristics, but her heritage is reflected in her name. She's a cheerful and kind child.

Name: The naming process began with inspiration from Ylva, an Old Swedish name derived from Old Norse, meaning "she-wolf" (from “úlfr” = wolf). I wanted a name that echoed elven traditions, so I chose the suffix -wen, which I feel has an elven resonance. Thus, the name Ilven was born.

    2. Plans:
I'm not the most skilled crafter. So, there are a few things I'll purchase:

      - Eyes
      - Wig
      - And likely, shoes.

I plan to work on her faceup, clothing, props, and hopefully, take some photographs. =)

      References:
Ilven lives in a fantasy world, drawing inspiration from the Viking era and early Middle Ages, with a bit of dark fantasy elements. Her family is neither wealthy nor poor, so her cloth would be rather simple.
I will do something similar to Viking era garments and will, probably, infuse some fantasy aspects into them. Below is an image I captured at a historical museum for reference.

    3. Cloth: I've started with the lower tunic. I've aged the fabric slightly, which, to me, adds a touch of realism.

Now, I see that the lower tunic tends to be quite short, so I might redo it.

But for now, I want to give the doll a new face-up.

    4. So darling! I saw her in the marketplace; I'm really glad she went to a loving home. :) Looking forward to seeing what you do with her!

    5. Thanks! Custom House dolls are so cute.

I’d love to do something nice with her—nothing too complicated, but nice :)

    6. Continuing my journal with two updates:

Faceup and wig. I'm not completely satisfied with the faceup, but I'll leave it as is for now. I'll likely add eyelashes as soon as I receive them.

I'm happy with the overall look and the wig.
Now, she needs new eyes. :3nodding:

    7. That wig is perfect for her!

    8. Thank you! The wig looks nice. :)
Now I’m searching for eyes—still want dark brown or hazelnut, but not acrylic.:)

    9. Hello! It's been a while.

I'm nearly finished with Ilven. Her outfit is complete (it's not perfect, but it's good enough for now), and I've settled on some shoes (they're not ideal, but they'll do).
The only thing left is to find new eyes.
I was quite taken with how she looked with these random blue eyes, so I'm considering blue, although they need to be slightly smaller.
But, all in all, I'm quite pleased!

I enjoyed to do this small project journal, and probably will get new one for the new doll. :3nodding:

    11. Aw, darling! Did you bead the necklaces yourself?

    12. Thank you! Yes, i’ve made it. :)
