If you were going to live in an alternate world, universe or existence where you could be like one of your doll characters, even in appearance. Which of your dolls would you choose to live as? 353451654_640830214264139_4568893581962588995_n by ManabuLi010, on Flickr For me I'd pick my Luts, Sweety Bliss (Kai). Currently his family is his little sister Angela, but later Grand Senior Delf Mars will also join them. This family does have a history of paranormal occurrences. Kai is a fashion designer, and vampire lover, he can see spirits, and he have his fair share of experiences in the paranormal and supernatural. His sweet looking little sister, as young as she is, she is an old soul and does demon, creatrue huntings at night, when she can. Her weapon she carries a big one on the back. Bit so far I have not figured out which kind she'll have. Mars is a paranormal, supernatural investigator, hunter and researcher, and also kai's lover. The family have a collection of old weapons that posess different kinds of powers. Kai and his family are inspired by the TV series Supernatural.
My main family of SD sized dolls are a huge Victorian family of children. Siblings, half-siblings, and cousins. Some of them are half elf, some full elf, some full human. Two of them (the half-elf twins can travel between the human world and the fae world, though they don't really understand how or why, only that it happens and it can lead to some interesting adventures for themselves and their siblings and cousins. That's the setting I'd pick to visit Teddy
I’ve always said that “by telling the story of my dolls, I tell the story of myself,” and it’s absolutely true. From the very beginning, so many years ago, I created characters that in a way told something about my life experiences (yes, I’m old!) in a fairytale-like way. I created a fantasy world for them in my mind, sort of like a Tim Burton’s “Alice” backdrop, and that’s how I’ve collected ever since. My collection is like a visual life journal, so each doll holds a little bit of me. But if I had to choose just one (keeping in mind that this might change on any given day) I think I would choose my Luts Senior Delf Kathy…the pale, fragile beauty, Chinoiserie Rose. She lives in a Victorian attic, filled with old trunks full of treasures and antique clothing. She looks after ladies’ trinkets…things like old love letters, keepsake mementos, jewelry boxes, and delicate tea sets hand-painted with tiny flowers…keeping all those romantic memories safe so they’ll never be forgotten. I think that would be such a lovely way to live.
This took me a bit to think about which one I'd like to be. My initial thought was Tahmos (boy's gone through many an iteration of shells, but is currently Fantasia doll Isaac, Ringdoll RGM-3), but after doing a bit more pondering on it...I chose Azabian. Azabian, a Rebeldoll Kai (elf ear mod)/Resinsoul 70cm hybrid, is a nonbinary/genderfluid individual from the same universe as Tahmos. Azabian was born without a distinct *gender/sex* identity (could be defined in a sense as intersex, to some degree—although that's not the term I would apply to them specifically), and thus specializes in using their shapeshifting ability to take on many different (humanoid) forms. They use this to their advantage as a part of a traveling theater troupe that the grew up in with their close-knit, loving and supportive family. Azabian is praised for their acting ability, and draws in a crowd wherever their troupe travels. There's something alluring in the idea of being able to express various personalities and take on different appearances—plus Azabian in general is pretty chill, creative, and accepting. So, yeah—as much as I love my precious Tahmos, Azabian's the one I'd like to be the most.
I used to have difficulties when answering this question, but now that two of my dolls have changed personalities and stories, I have it easier than ever xD So I would pose as Lianda, a rather short-fused 600-year-old vampire and little sister to Dracula himself, who happens to share the same universe, and the same bed, of Stephen Strange (and other wide variety of Marvel characters I don't own in doll form and I don't intend to ever own). Those two may not be a match made in heaven, cause things happen, egos clash, there's chores to do, and all that, but they are doing their best in a world full of secret agencies, super-humans, aliens, and gods.
This is a strangely tough question. All of my SD-sized dolls exist in a world much like ours, except paranormal creatures exist (unknown to most). With one exception, they make up a secret government agency that keeps the peace between humans and their secretive counterparts. I think that would be an interesting world to live in, and I'd be pretty happy as any of these characters- except maybe Seth, the one who hunts monsters. He's a little, uh, violent. But then there's the world that two of my 1/4 dolls exist in: a future where humans are mostly gone and only a few scattered robots remain. This world is a melancholy one, filled with the remnants of people's lives, but it's also a really peaceful one. The two characters, Eli and Noah, only have one another for company, and there's not much for them to do but keep moving, hoping to find some place to belong. But there's a lot of beauty in that, seeing the world as it would be without all its problems. Sad, but pretty. So I don't know! I'd probably go for the first one and be a chill supernatural creature, but I'd like to at least visit the other one for a bit.
I can relate to Azabian's shapeshifting story. I have a doll character myself that can shapeshift, I named them Capricorn because they are my zodiac sign in a humanoid form. Their shape is genderless, but they can shapeshift to any humanoid like shape in the universe, and gender they want. And personally I feel being limited to this one form is quite limited, and kind of sad. How cool it would be if we could experience life through different forms and life
It'd be nice to be Moira- She's buff and fit and runs around doing all kinds of things, but her world is dangerous.
I would be Sven Lumii 20230523 155727318 — Postimages My dolls don't exactly have a concrete story or written alternate world but they are very fleshed out personalities and I do imagine that they are happy and getting along I would choose Sven because he is my preferred gender, and he's the one that is the best balance of things I personally relate to and sense of being that I admire and hope I could achieve one day. He is sensitive and empathetic but well regulated and grounded. Friendly and personable, confident but modest. And I'm sure he is able to be this way in part from his balanced and supportive relationships, so it feels nice to imagine what it is like to be him.
Nope. Most of my crew are the resin avatars for either tabletop RPG characters or roleplayed MMO toons. That means that their lives and worlds are, almost by definition, ALL KINDS of jacked up. I wouldn't want to visit any of them, much less live there. Even as an Exalt, or a magus, or a Street Shaman or whatever. Exalted's Creation? The place has something new and awful trying to destroy it every other day. Plus slavery. Shadowrun's Seattle in 2050? It's a cyberpunk distopia. With angry dragons. 7th Sea's Thea? Constant warfare, aliens and secret societies making a mess of everything. Ars Magica's Mythic Europe? The grimy, brutal Middle Ages. And demons are real. City of Heroes' world? Super-villains. Gansters on every corner. Aliens. Zombies. Nemesis. Praetoria. Yeeeah... No. I'll stay right here, thanks. The real world is plenty weird and complicated enough.
I would definitely choose my Miku. Out of all my doll's backstories, hers is the most peaceful In my mind she's the former virtual diva, retired from the stage, enjoying her wealth and exploring new creative endeavors. Life doesn't get any more comfortable, does it? Hers is a virtual world, so her fame comes with none of the dangers of true fame. Anything she wants is at her fingertips, and anything she doesn't, just hit the block button! Not to mention, she's about as cute as it gets. Ah, the life of a digital immortal, what wonders shall I create today?
I'm suuuper late but I think this question is so fun and I'm enjoying reading the answers here. For me, I would choose my OC Eunjae. She's strong and quirky, a former kickboxer who is super cranky and uncomfortable with emotions but somehow manages to find her soulmate. Although her world is not fantasy, her character and story are 100% K-drama inspired and who wouldn't want to live in a K-drama?
That's an interesting question. I would most likely want to look like my Peakswoods Gumiho Miro. She is strong, yet cute. She is powerful due to her gumiho nature and naturally alluring. She can protect herself because of her supernatural abilities. She lives in an alternate Joseon similar to Alchemy of Souls. The timelines get changed up because in my world there is time travel. She is ageless, timeless, and exists in all time. She has an older brother, but I still working on getting that grail doll to be his character. From the yeonji dots we can assume she is a bride. So i like to think she is about to marry a man of her dreams. She is secretly sweet, but comes off as scary because of her gumiho nature. She doesn't like violence and believes in peace and harmony. She has existed throughout all of Korean history, but her story begins in Joseon. She has seen all the turmoils, hardships, and lost in Korean history. She grieves the separation of Korea into two countries. She waits for peace. Here is how she looks: FOC Gumiho Miro_Nine Tails She stopped aging somewhere in her adulthood, but many people mistake her for a teen due to her baby face. Her eyes though has a timeless gaze due to her immortal lifespan. She sometimes uses her youthful looks to her advantage and acts like a baby when she wants to get something due to her older brother spoiling her. They are immortal, but there are some things that can kill them. I am adding to my story on the spot, so it's a work in progress that I've been working on for a few years in my head. The story will keep changing because it's in my head. If I can get another miro I might make her into a twin.
@Forever We Are Young Your girl's backstory sounds so detailed and intriguing! I always enjoy characters who are complex and seem to have conflicting traits (of course, because my OC Eunjae is also fierce but adorable at the same time haha). It makes them so much more interesting!
Interesting topic! I would choose either Noori or Rissa from my characters, because they don't have to face as much hardship as the others. I feel like I could live pretty comfortably as either of them. Easy, but boring life would be probably Noori. He is an old dragon spirit of the Northern Forest of Gilvenian, who got trapped in a small island for 1000 years as a punishment for not doing his duties as a guardian of the forest. He used to be very vain and self-loving creature, who did only care for surficial beauty, but has slightly changed over the years. He is now running a magic shop with few other characters and sells spells and potions to help the citizens in their problems and other needs they might have. He loves a good gossip and spends most of his freetime smoking pipe, wandering around collecting plants for potions and reading questionable novels. He also likes to visit the harbour area to watch and see what travellers are up to and maybe buy some new fashionable fabrics to his costumes. He is little bit sassy, mysterious and hard to read, as most of the time he has a funny little sleepy smirk on his face as if he would be thinking of some old good memories. He is actually very powerful, but likes to down play his skills, because he does not want people to ask him too much favours. Rissa would be my other choice, as she is very kind person, but also stands up to injustice. She comes from Gilvenian neighbour country Adafikar, where she did her healer training. She was about to be married to a horrible person, so she ran off to Gilvenian and devoted her life to helping others. She is caring person, who loves to help others, but is very private in her personal life. She used to be famous for her healing abilities, but suddenly dissappeared. Later she is found by my other character, Regina, from the Gilvenian forest area were usually only spirits would wander. Regina wants Rissa to heal her friend Calamitty, so she pretends to have amnesia and asks to live with Rissa. Rissa was born human, but she will sacrife herself in order to save a young blood eater boy called Camilr. She is about to die, but Camilr's brother, Ifgur, will turn her into a blood eater. Rissa is confused why would he do such a thing, but slowly she understand what it is to be loved and cared for, as she is very used to only love and care for others, but not herself. She is determined, open-minded and does not care for societal norms. She speaks her mind when she sees injustice. Her favourite hobby is sewing. Rissa also loves to learn new things, so she reads a lot. She teaches Camilr and Regina (they are younger characters who live with Rissa & Ifgur) many things as their caretaker.
If I had to pick one it would definitely be Frisk. Although, the entire plot of Undertale wouldn't have happened in that case. I would have just stayed in the ruins with Toriel. Out of the dolls that are my own characters, it would be absolutely none of them. I've made their world and all of their lives waaay too miserable.
I can't decide... I have too many doll characters and some of their lives are absolutely awful (all my fault).
I think I am symbolically included in all of them. Each of them has something of me and I have something of them. But I don't think I would change my life with any of them.
Charlotte (dream valley thorn) for sure. She's all about having fun and tormenting her caretakers with her lack of lady like behavior. My dolls live in a world much like ours, just with many many troublesome spirits. Despite having one functioning eye, she's still very good at ushering spirits to the afterlife. It takes a lot to surprise her! I would want to adventure as Charlotte and see what spooky ghosts I could find.
Twyla!! She's the granddaughter of a mad scientist who has discovered the secrets of time travel and dimension hopping. She's kind of his guinea pig, so he sends her on lots of missions, but also lets her play around with traveling through the universes and time. This lands her in a lot of sticky situations, but also lets her see some really amazing and unbelievable places, meet tons of people from different worlds, and discover some wild stuff! Time is irrelevant to her, since she can travel to any period and so many places where it doesn't flow the same as our world. Because of her ability to collect potions and remedies throughout all these worlds, she stays healthy (or can heal quickly), is in excellent shape, and stays about the equivalent of around 25. She doesn't take things too seriously and if things get too stressful or boring, she'll just hop to the next time and place. To top it all off, somehow her hair and makeup tend to stay fabulous through it all. Twyla (Iplehouse Lahela) :
