Ideas for bones?

Aug 18, 2021

    1. I would like to make something similar to this. Or something inspired by this. I ordered some skulls on aliexpress that might work for the center skull. But, if you have a better idea, I would love to hear it. I am trying to think of something to use/do for the arms/fingers/wings/whatever you call them, that hug around her waist and bust. My husband suggested using thin wire and then using clay to form the fingers. I am concerned that clay will not be very sturdy as it will be skinny tubes.

    2. I feel like an epoxy clay like Apoxie Sculpt would be durable enough even at that size. That stuff dries rock hard and I don't think you'd have to worry about it breaking especially if you use a wire base underneath.

Alternatively, you could try sculpting the pieces with cheap clay, making a mold, and casting them in epoxy/UV resin, which is convenient since you'd only have to sculpt each unique piece one time, but it also requires the right supplies, so probably not worth it unless you already own resin/mold putty/etc.

    3. Poly plastic is also an option if you make the molds first. Just warm the beads in hot water, press into mold, leg it cool a few minutes and pull them out. Very durable.

    4. Maybe hot gluing the bone shapes on parchment paper or over the wiring. That way is is flexible and could still be painted and attached to the corset. May not work but it’s an idea lol.

    5. Wait a month. As soon as the Halloween stuff comes out there will be a metric TON of skull and bone things. Especially look for strings of pliable plastic mini-skeletons, and skeleton jewelry.

    6. I haven't used it personally but worbla thermoplastic seems really easy to heat, mold and paint!
