Today I made my first pair of eyes! They're basic dark brown 8mm eyes with a tiny (2.5mm!) iris. I'm pretty satisfied with how they turned out simply because of sizing. They fit perfectly! I tried painting the irises buh it kinda just looks like a paint blob I think my boy is happy though! Materials: 8mm mother of pearl beads polymer clay acrylic paint (brown, black) ZM shine pearl powder (white) clear UV resin
Nice job! Looks like they are the perfect proportions for the eyes of this sculpt. He's very handsome too
I've been thinking about making my own eyes as well! Your eyes turned out great and I definitely agree that the sizing is perfect for him.
@Kaiyashu Thank you! I'll continue to post pictures of him as I customize! You shall see him more often @lilybot Thank you! If you have the supplies for what you intend to make, I recommend giving a try! I found making the eyes to be far less intimidating than trying to do a faceup for example. It felt a lot more forgiving and they turned out well despite my accidental paint glooping I've been trying to practice faceups off and on over the past few weeks as well and I've probably wiped like five times already
Thank you! I'm not sure I can answer the question though. I only used a tiny slice of painted polymer clay which was fit into the drilled beads to create the iris part, then I put a drop of clear resin on top to fill it in and create the dome part. Nothing was casted from a mold or anything like how I think most eyes are made. I don't have any experience with either material other than what I've described.
