I got cheated on eBay

Jun 17, 2011

    1. A month ago, I bought an Iplehouse Elder doll from a buyer on eBay for $491. I was really excited, but after 30 days, my item did not arrive, and the seller was not responding to me. Then I went to the listing and saw that it was removed and that the seller was no longer listed as a seller. I just escalated my case, so I hope that my buyer protection will get my money back. I am really disappointed to not get my Iplehouse doll, but I am more upset that I can't provide him with scathing negative feedback. It is just wrong to cheat people like this. I will hold onto my belief in Karma, and know that it will come back on him multiplied.

I guess I will get my Iplehouse later in time. I will just have to give more attention to my other fellas so they don't think that I don't love them anymore. :)

    2. They're out there, always waiting to cheat people out of money. I read feedback very carefully before buying anything on ebay and usually buy dolls directly from the company or from people on doll forums with a long track record of honesty.

    3. I am so sorry this happened. If you contact ebay and paypal and let them know the seller is no longer an ebay member they normally get your money back right away. I had a case closed in under 12 hours once I told them the seller was removed from ebay.

    4. Paypal can be very helpful if you were cheated on Ebay--I've had to get my money back via Paypal a couple of times (other things, not doll-related). Keep good records and don't be afraid to stand up for your money! Good luck!

    5. I agree with Reynardine and definitely take a look at Paypal's "insurance" funds rules. There must be something they can do.

I have purchased actually many dolls from ebay and "knock on wood" never have had a problem. With that said, I also agree that looking at their feedback and their "score" number as to how many sales they have done influence my decision making with ebay.

Good luck and the karma is on your side =)

    6. This happened to me before but it was with a webcam that was inexpensive not a doll X.x but it feels terrible. I got an email that there was something weird with the seller I think it was from ebay. After going to check there listing they were no longer registered and had tons of negative feedback that they didnt have when I ordered. Solution? you can still make a claim on the money I think with ebay is what I did it with but I did it with paypal before. All you do is tell them what happened and if the seller doesnt say anything about your claim then they decide whats fair and usually you win and get back your money ^^. So im pretty sure you'll get it back keep your hopes up.

    7. I spend a moderate amount of time on eBay. If I am going to spend any real money, I always come up with a few questions. They can be informational to vague. The point is to see how quick they answer, and how thorough, and on topic the responses are. If they do not respond, or give flaky answers, I won't enter into the transaction. This is not 100%, but it generally works quite well.

    8. I believe I will be exercising more caution with eBay in the future. I think excitement got the better of me because that was the exact doll I was planning to get from Iplehouse, and the price was perfect. Well, live and learn.

    9. This happened to my husband when he purchased a semi-expensive surfboard. The biggest mistake he made is that he used his paypal balance for it. If he would have used a credit card he could have reported it to the company as no received and the company would have done a charge back. Ebay/Paypal does not like to tell you this. He had used his credit card for a third of the purchase and that money was recovered via the CC company.
Even though my husband never received his item paypal could not get the $$ back because the person closed their bank account and there was no way to recoup the funds. Lesson learned always use a Credit Card on large purchase items not your balance and NEVER send a money order. He also got duped twice with sending money orders! Yes, I told him dont do it but you know how that goes. It is a sad thing that you have to be so paranoid but it is the only way not to get swindled.
