Or maybe I did, its been many many years. I think I joined in like 2021 maybe. I first found bjds in 2017 but never got one at that time, I did acquire a smartdoll around then but I always wanted an actual resin bjd. When I lost my mom to cancer in 2018, I ended up buying a couple minifees from Denver dolls, as a way to.. grieve? Cause emotional spending is a thing haha. Though I have since sold them. I jumped into the hobby at first but it kind of ebbed and flowed for a time. But I feel like I am finally ready and back. I am 36 with 3 sons, two 12 year old twins, and an almost 3 year old. I operate a day home in order to stay at home for my youngest. I am from Alberta, Canada, and am just really trying to make friends in the hobby because I do not have any! So would love to make some friends, even if it's online ones! My other hobbies are painting, reading, and playing video games. I play on Nintendo switch and 3ds, PS5, and steam on both my steam deck and my computer that I built last year all myself! Currently the only resin bjd I have is my Supia Hael, I just received her and she is gorgeous. I am excited to get her made up exactly how I am envisioning and to work on my other projects soon! Hope to connect with you all!
Welcome! It's great that DOA is still here now that you've returned! I'm very sorry to hear about your mother - using dolls and creativity/artwork to process grief seems very natural to me. Glad you feel ready to return to this hobby now. Also, how wonderful that you are able to work from home and be with your youngest son! My sisters have stay-at-home+work-from-home types of occupations and I know it is a sacrifice but also so rewarding. I've always thought that Supia dolls are so pretty, but I've never seen them in person. Hael is especially lovely! Are you making her into a character from one of the games you play or from a story you're working on? I don't play games myself (it's too hard on my hands) but I enjoy watching "Let's plays" on Youtube. I hope that you will enjoy your re-introduction to this forum and to the hobby in general!
