Hey there I found out that Bonbon Galaxy released a new, limited boy body which I'm very interested in (I kinda regretted not buying the Mangosteen body when I had the chance). I'd love to hybride it with my Mystic Kids' head. But: According to the Bonbon Galaxy thread, the normal skin does not match MK normal skin since BG it's too saturated and basically not pale enough. Not a good Match! I was quite disappointed of my MK's boy though because it was so pale and I prefer darker dolls A more saturated body sounds a lot better for me. Now, should I order the body in normal skin regardless and hybrid anyway…? Maybe cover the collar-area and live with the difference? I also have another head of the same sculpt which I planned to turn into a closed-eye version of the same character though. The "main" head is with company face-up and I don't want to remove it, even though it doesn't look like the way I wanted. Or should I buy the body in mia pink (or maybe even white) in hope it matches the head better? What do you think? Would you buy a matching color or the one you prefer in general?
You can always dye the head to match so maybe buy the shade you want. Or just buy the lighter body and dye both to match.
I understand you want to keep the company faceup but if you ever decide to part from it - it's super easy to blush a lighter head to match a darker body when giving it a faceup. I think this is the easiest way to keep the BbG resin you like most and make the MK resin you found too light darker (plus make them match if course). I've had BbG NS before and it's still relatively quite a light skin tone in comparison to my other dolls and parts so the slight mismatch might also not really bother you in real life. I can snap you some comparisons if you wish, I still have a pair of BonBon feet parts.
I know how you feel, I'm kind of in love with that body too. But like others have pointed out, it's a lot easier to resin match a head with pastels/airbrushing than it is to match a body outright. Granted my experience with hybrids is solely on the off-topic side, but sometimes even within the same company it's impossible to get a 100% match without having to alter the head a little bit, and it's much easier to go darker than lighter. If you're really determined to keep the same faceup, it might be easier to find a different head for the body - Mia pink will be much easier to match as many solo artists offer it, and even if it's not exactly the same shade, it'll still match more closely to that than MK normal. But if like cobaltconduct said, you ever decide to part with it, you can probably find an artist who will try to match the resin and do a similar but not exact replica of the faceup. Most artists don't like to copy another's work but will try and meet you halfway by doing a similar look in their own style, you just have to ask.
If your body is more saturated than the head, it’s fairly easy to blush the head to match the body; it’s much more difficult the other way around. Based on what you have written here, it sounds like it should be okay to make a hybrid in NS and blush the head to match
Thank you for your opinions! I guess I'll go with the slightly darker body then, even if it's not a perfect fit. Does anyone know which one is darker, Mia pink or NS? @cobaltconduct I'd be very happy to receive comparison photos from you regardless! They might be able to erase the feeling of unsureness left.
I have a QianQiandoll head in Mia Pink and it's very fair, like Myoudoll Normal Pink and Gem of Doll Milk Peach Pink, so I guess NS would be darker, even though I'm inexperienced with BbG resin.
From the company's resin picture, looks like their normal is. Mia pink is a pretty fair skintone like others have said.
@Kinril their NS is darker than Mia pink. I'll take you some comparison shots a bit later - I can offer myou pink (their resins should be similar to MK) + BonBon normal for instance.
Okay there we go: Feet - BonBon Galaxy NS 2024 Fists - Myou in Normal Pink 2023 Open hand - Souldoll Normal 2024 Neck protector - Huajing normal skin 2024 Here's one with myou and bonbon which is probably closest to what bonbon and mystic kids would be. Everything is a bit pinker in real life, but I guess the photos show what's lighter and what's darker quite well.
