I would LOVE to see a tan option. If they released tan resin, I'd bump 'em up on my wishlist.

And I just looked up Mignon----too stinkin' cute. I love dolls with teeth/open mouths, although I do agree that she is painted a little funny in her promo photos.

Love that faceup I am thinking of buying one of the MSD sized girls before the promotion expires. They're really cute dollies, and the cost makes me think that this doll could be a good candidate for faceup practice without so much stress

Thank you both I'm really excited to get her. I'm doing a short layaway on her, probably two payments. I just prefer to do things that way most of the time, since dolls take time to be made, and that keeps some money free for accessory and wig purchases for whatever doll I am getting.

As for my Kimberly, I'll know more about what direction I want to go with her once she arrives, but I think I'd love for her to have a sandy brown wig, with a gentle curl and, perhaps, either lavender or sky blue eyes

My Kimberly is here, and she's even more lovely in person!

I am not sure what I think of her breasts yet, but the rest of her has far exceeded my expectations! She is really fine quality for the low price tag. I am rather surprised!

I feel you on her teeth---I almost bought a Kimberly at Christmas, but I was so unsure because in her promo they are extra prominent.

But now? Ugh. She's suddenly moved up in status from "Someday" to "Maybe My Next Girl."

 

The little cutie next to her is my new Angell-Studio Mandarava girl They both arrived yesterday and share the same birthday, so I did some photos of them together and compared their posing. I think they look rather nice together.

I think Huajing has another 1/4 girl as well.. Flavia is her name, I think? Or something similar. She's cute, too, even though her eye shape is very unique. I may end up getting her as well in a few months.

Thank you, @PeppermintPocky !! If the weather would let up a bit, I'd take her outdoors for some photos in natural sunlight, but that probably cannot happen for the next few days.

I do like her eyes as well! They are just random glass eyes that I bought from ebay, but I think they are of pretty good quality I need to eventually buckle down and order all of my girls some Makos, but that will just have to wait. I am still paying on doll layaways! Lol.

Let me if know/when you order your own Kimberly! It's exciting to know that another person is getting one I'm sure you'll just love her!

I empathize RE: paying off layaways. I don't have any layaways right now, but I am trying to save money to buy wigs, etc. for a few of my dolls. I keep getting distracted by resins, though.

And I'll be sure to let you know when I order a Kimberly! My goal is before autumn, if I'm lucky. I am sure I'll love her to bits. Please let me know if you end up buying a Flavia, too---would love to see photos!

My Tia is so cute though! I hope she has really shown people how nice these less expensive dollies can really be. I am so happy with her and her sweet sweet face.

That's awesome Angell-Studio offered to make you a doll that's retired! I love AS Sherry, but thankfully for my wallet 1/3 dolls and I just don't mesh well. A few months back I read AS plans to release a 1/4 version of Sherry someday, which I would love to see. The Baby Delfs are very cute, too. There's so many dolls these days I love... I had a shorter wishlist when I entered this hobby in 2009 but all these new companies make me swoon.

Your Tia wears a Monique wig, right? It looks like Monique, anyway. (I have so many Monique wigs in this house, heh.) Would you say 7-8" fits her better than 6-7"? If it's 7-8", I have a wig in storage that is just aching to be worn by a HD Kimberly, ha!

I empathize with you on having more of one size than the other---I'm that way with eyes. I have about three pairs of 16mm urethane eyes here just waiting to be used, but most minis wear 12mm or 14mm (and I'm too attached to the eyes to get rid of 'em). One of them is a gorgeous pair of Serendipity eyes, discontinued years and years ago. They are my fave pair, even though I've never used 'em in a doll. I may try 'em in my future Kimberly even though I'm sure they won't work / will be too big.

 

Yes, Angell-Studio is just awesome I have 4 of their dolls on my wishlist, so I'll be working toward getting some of them at least!

And I understand your struggle. My wishlist always seems to get bigger as well. The order of things tends to change, but nothing ever seems to get eliminated :P And by the time a new girl comes home, a few others have already crept onto my list.

Those lovely 16mm eyes might work for a Baby Delf, if you are into that giant baby size I was worried for a while after I ordered my Rose, but once she got home, I just fell in love with her. I take more pictures of her than any of my other dolls because she is just so darn cute. I plan on ordering her a friend soon, since she doesn't really interact with my other dolls due to her proportions being a bit strange. I actually found another Rose for sale on ebay right now, and it is killing me to not buy her. But No! I will NOT have duplicate dolls when my wishlist is so full of non-duplicates! :P

I'll need to google Serendipity eyes. I am actually only about 6 months into the hobby, so there's a lot I still don't know.

My Kimberly's wig is a Monique "Pretty Girl" in size 7-8. I didn't try any of my 6-7s on her, as I did have that blonde curly one on my AS Mandarava before, and it was such a pain to pull down in the front. I think the 7-8s are much more suitable. It's a tiny bit loose; it is really easy to move the wig around on her head. However, I have some silicon head caps on order, and I am hoping that one of those will create a more firm grip

The first 1/3 doll I ever fell for (and subsequently bought) was an Angell-Studio Cinderella (the one paired with Andrea in promo photos). I loved her muchly! Sometimes I miss her but her size was too much for me .

I really do adore some of the giant baby BJDs, too. I know I've seen your Rose in the doll profiles or another thread. A real cutie! Here is a photo of the Serendipity eyes I own, if you want to see what they look like.

Thank you for confirming the best wig size for Kimberly! This is the wig I have been hoarding for 4+ years that I'm considering for mine. She... won't look nearly as sweet and adorable as your girl, heh. That is if she ends up shelling the character I think I'll have her shell. But that's one of the many reasons I love this hobby---two of the same doll can look completely different.

When my Angell-Studio army is complete, I'm pretty sure I'll have Mandarava, Dawn, Sherry, Hua Rong, and Xi Shi. I just love their dolls!

Those Serendipity eyes are GORGEOUS. I really need to just break down and get some pretty urethanes. They always just pop. Glass is still pretty, and I like that it won't yellow, but man.. Some of the eyes I see in people's dolls really do make all the difference.

That wig is cool! Seems like your Kimberly will have a bit of a fiery side to her personality, if the wig is any indication I'd love to know more about her!

I am still trying to settle on which of my characters fits my Tia, but I think I have it narrowed down, since her predominant personality traits are already set in my mind. Above all things, she is sweet, compassionate, and well-mannered.

Yes, I highly recommend urethanes. I made the mistake of buying a pair of Gumdrops for my first BJD and I was instantly hooked. (I call it a mistake simply because I collect eyes now as much as the dolls, themselves!) MAKO ($25/pair) is a good brand to start with if you want to test the waters. Some OscarDoll eyes are $35/pair, too---Vings and Dollshe are $40/pair and then you have all the $50+ ones like Enchanted Doll, DollBakery, Mystics, Gumdrops, Dollflowers, etc.

Sorry. I tend to ramble when it comes to urethane eyes. If you ever need help looking for a certain color/style or whatnot, please lemme know and I'll send suggestions your way.

Heh, yes, my Kimberly will be fiery, for sure. I'm torn between two characters for her---one of them is an intergalactic bounty hunter (blackmailed into the trade against her will) and the other is a biomedical engineer who dabbles with explosives when no one is looking. Both of their stories intertwine with my other sci-fi/cyberpunk dolls (you can see them here, here, and here, if interested). I'll have to see which character calls to me when I see her face in person.

Speaking of!!! I maaaaay be ordering her earlier than anticipated. It's going to depend on my next paycheck.

I can def' see that in her. Tia is a sweetheart! Do you have any clue what some of her favorite things are yet? Like books or milkshakes or whatever you envision for her?

As for my Tia, I do kind of have a story that I have been dabbling with for quite a long time, and I can expand upon my cast for each of my dolls, I think. Tia will likely be one of the youngest and more naive characters - sort of blind to the perils of the world at first. But she will obviously grow and learn.

I have not tried to fit 16mm eyes in my Kimberly. I think they'd look really large in her eyes, personally, but I can try some on tomorrow and take a quick photo.

And yes, I am waiting for my Junia I am hoping she gets shipped soon. I was promised that she would be shipped at the end of April, and it still hasn't happened yet. Aehael is so pretty, and I'm glad to be getting Junia. As pretty as the Soulkid sculpts are, however, I think Im going to limit how many I go for, because I am not a huge fan of the body. It's just not as solid and stable as my others. The posing is not quite as bad as an Iplehouse body, but it's still not great. After Junia comes, I'm going to stop with the slim MSDs for a good long while and focus on my other sizes.. That is, unless Volks SDC dolls are slim. Then I guess I totally just lied, because I am stalking a Volks SDC, and I am hoping to free up some funds to start a layaway on her. I just need to make sure I can pay for Sherry and Gabriel first. I'm also finishing off a Layaway on a Soom girl - my very first! She has such a sweet face, and I cannot wait to have her in person! I really do need to slow my roll with the new dolls soon though. I could if only these companies would stop producing Limited releases that I can't live without.

I am thinking of one of Huajing's MSD baby dolls soon. Youle is really really cute, and I think I want to add her to growing group of BB girls eventually. Hopefully they continue to offer her.

I have sort of been on the hunt for a MSD boy doll, but I find it so challenging! I am really picky about what I want there, and it's hard to find. I want a boy that is not really severe or stern-looking. Sort of cute, and maybe a little androgynous, but still at least a little distinguishable from my girls. The closest candidates I can find are MYOU's Wind, RS's Ruty, and MAYBE Spiritdoll's Pyrus. I like a few Luts Kid Delf sculpts, but it's hard for me to imagine them as boys, since I've daydreamed of having them as girls for all these months D:
