I have a photography project due soon ^_^ and i wanted to ask if any of you guys know how to take a pic and make it look like the bjd is real or alive. Please help ; - ;
Make sure the doll's eyes are connecting with the viewer...as if they are looking at you. Correctly sized props help too. And of course, more natural colored eyes and wigs will give a more realistic image than neon yellow eyes and purple hair! There's some great threads here on photography tips too! Best of luck with your project!!
There are several tricks to use: First and foremost - pose the doll in a natural way! The pose, including the doll's eye placement and how the doll's gaze is directed in the picture, are often the most obvious giveaways. Hide the doll's doll-y details, like joints Place the doll in a setting that seems lifelike, either by making the doll seem in-scale with a human scale environment (see the "Illusion of BJDs being in proportion with the real world settings" thread), or by creating an environment of lifelike in-scale sets and props. See the Almost Human contest for lots of good ideas for how to make dolls look human. Good luck!
The Dragon: Thanks for those tips. I am trying - but with photoshop lessons to be learned, it will take a while ^_^
If you have a specific shot in mind try google image searches for human pictures and get some inspiration. You can see human poses that way, check out the lighting and props, or lack of props that are used. It'll give you some idea of what colours to use as backgrounds and clothing etc. If you want to look human you have to imitate it as best as you can. Try some "America's Next Top Model" photoshoots in your searches and see what you find.
