how to make loose socks

Jul 8, 2005

    1. hi guys!
does any body know how to make loose socks i've tried but they just look like knee high socks that have fallen down!

    2. That's basically what loose socks are. XD If you want them to look MORE like them, though, make the tops elastic or at least tighter, and they'll hang onto the leg. They're generally supposed to be glued (yes, Japanese girls use sock glue to keep them up) just below their knees, and are supposed to be loose/bunch up/fold/however you like best around the ankles.

Also, make the fabric a LOT wider, but with elastic at the top. That way it actually fits loosely. ^^ I'm not sure how this would be done with an actual sock part at the bottom (I guess make a ankle sock and then attach it to the bottom of the gathered leg part of the sock).

    3. Japanese uniform loose socks are about thigh length when you pull them all the way up. So you might try making them a little longer, too.

    4. I don't know if this is the norm for Japan (or if my friend was just being silly), but when she came back from Japan she arrived with Loose Socks that were almost as tall as she was. She's only 4'9", but those socks came up to her shoulder when she wasn't wearing them. But like I said, she may have bought a pair that were WAY too long since they did look a little odd when she wore them, there were a tone more wrinkles then the pictures I've seen.

    5. I guess you'd make them longer or shorter depending on how many wrinkles you want.

    6. thankies guys and i know that they are meant to look like droopy socks but i forgot to make the top tighter lol they just looked like over sized socks lol

    7. You can also get the loose socks look by making leg warmers, then you dont have to worry about the foot (or making sure a shoe fits over it!)

    8. oh yeah leg warmers lol i can't really sew the sock bit so the toes are left out in the open but when i put the shoes on you can't tell
i do em for my living dead dolls btw
