How to get Appraisal of dolls destroyed for Insurance Claim?

I'd try to determine a "replacement value" by searching past sales listings on various platforms, like the sold dolls archive, eBay, etc. see if you can find a handful of listings, even if they are from years ago. That should at least give you a starting point for their value. Good luck.

 

New I'm not a bjd expert, so I don't have any better advice to offer than skyealloway suggested (although that does seem like a good place to start). I just wanted to say I'm so sorry that you lost them. I definitely know how that feels (lost many treasures during Katrina) and it is not easy!

If you ever do want to replace them, you might try putting a Want-to-buy in the Marketplace. Sometimes older dolls are waiting around for new homes, sometimes people even forget they have them - you never know.

 

New I agree with all the previous suggestions. The only other suggestion I have to offer is if you ever received email receipts for their purchases, then you would have a record of what you paid for them at the very least. I am sorry you lost them but I am glad you are physically okay.

 

New That is horrific and I feel SO bad for you! They may not be living things, but they come right after! So much of ourselves go into their creation and customization. It's truly heartbreaking.

I have no idea what they'd be worth, and I'm not sure anybody else can tell you either, as it really just depends on what anybody is willing to pay for them. You can try searching the "Sold Dolls" archive or looking at sold dolls on other sites and see what the final price was on them. Or see what you paid new, if you have the records. You could maybe also contact the company and ask them if they remember what the dolls originally sold for.

I really hope you can get this sorted and at least get a fair reimbursement for them. It's not at all the same as having your dolls back, but it's better than nothing.

In the meantime, I hope this isn't insensitive to suggest, but seeing as the dolls are tiny and all you have left is a thigh piece...you could use it to make yourself a necklace or bracelet. Add some pretty beads in their colors around it, maybe a little heart charm or something in memory of your beloved doll. A thigh piece would look just like a long bead to most people, but you and other doll owners would know it's something special.

 

New I am so, so sorry this happened to you! There's no advice I can offer, unfortunately. But I very much hope you can find your dear little friends again, even if their not exactly the same. Or at the very least get something back for them at all... Is there anybody from your insurance that you might contact for assistance? Or some kind of appraiser?

 

New You could also email Donny Harijanto, company owner/artist of DHS, and ask- DHS is a very teeny tiny company and he will probably be able to tell you what those dolls sold for.

 

New there’s sold listings on here for the micro fairies ranging from $170-225. i also agree with reaching out to donny, he could help somehow. i’m sorry for your loss, i used to have a dhs feilene that was destroyed so i feel the pain.
