I bought a Doll Chateau doll in grey resin and I'm kind of at a loss on how I'm going to dress him! I'd love some advice if anyone has some
I had a gray DC lady, and I dressed her in a lot of neutral colors, but it fit her character. It really depends on your doll's personal style. I always love white on gray resin dolls.
Well gray is a neutral so the skies the limit! I’d personally go for more muted tones, play up the whole desaturated look.
Personally, I dress gray like it's a healthy tan. White, bright colors, dark brown, black...they all are good in contrast. Bland colors seem to get swallowed up by it, but maybe that's just me.
My grey doll wears black outfit with burgundy and silver elements, his wig is also black. In my opinion, cold bright colors will suit grey resin too, and warm colors like beige and yellow won't do at all. But it depends, of course, on your taste only, what color combinations seem acceptable to you.
My gray lady is currently wearing some nice pink! Since gray is so neutral, everything... works. I think so, at least! But due to its neutrality it can also make colors "pop" more, so colors may feel more vibrant on that doll than on others. While not inherently a bad or a good thing it can be worth considering while choosing your fabrics.
My grey girl is out for a faceup, but her colour palette is grey/white/gold, for backstory reasons. She and her twin are both in the same palette, with golden hair and eyes. He has a default faceup, but I’m trying to make her look nonhuman, so hers is based on a skull in the same colour.
Mine I have her faceup and current wig with purple highlights in it, she's very very partial to wearing black and white with purple highlight pieces (currently black pants/shoes/jacket and a bright purple shirt prototype I was trying to get put together.)
Depends on what their personality is. Monzo has his warrior outfit and its black leather and turquoise. Berwyn is a smokey grey and wears a peachy pink. Very interesting as it warms her up and you dont notice the blue tone in her. Lucian wears whatever color he wants. I just depends on their character.
Honestly red, greens, purples, and blues always look gorgeous with gray! I’ve got a dark gray doll that I’m having done up like an ancient Roman so he’s all about boldness and he looks pretty killer with his red nails and green outfit if I’m being humble. Gold is also a nice accent color to use too but I probably wouldn’t put a doll in a completely gold fit.
I've seen amazing styles with black leathers or pure whites or cool lilacs and pinks...! Perhaps a nice contrast of deep red, black and white? Depends on the feeling you are going for~! I'd also consider the colour of the hair and eyes when considering the clothes, it always looks nice to colourmatch the palette as a whole imo.
Black, red, white and violey are mostly universal to match gray in my opinion. Also, dependently on doll style, orange could be rather good experiment. Quite often I use colour palette (just search in pinterest), where gray is included. But pay attention that on gray skintone eyes and hair attracts more attention, so they also should be included into palette.
