I hope people can understand what I'm trying to ask here... you know those fancy ish pajamas where the outside of the shirts front and a bit up from the ankle and wrist bottom has a strip of silk cord? I dont know how people add that. I can't see any stitching on them. Are they just glued on? Sorry i don't have an image hosting site account so i can't put in a photo. Maybe i can link what I'm talking about? Women's Beautifully Soft Notch Collar Pajama Set - Stars Above™ Black M : Target I dont even know what to call it The white lines. How do you add those? Thank you!! Sorry this is not a very clear post
It's called piping. The silky material (or it works with most other fabrics too) is cut into long strips. The cord (usually a thin rope or thicker yarn) is put in the middle of the strips and the fabric folded over and sewn onto itself, trapping the cord in place. Then you sew it to the garmet so that the trapped cord is the only part shown. Lol it's a little hard to describe, lemmy find a link for you. Here we go, this has lots of pictures and tips: How to sew with piping: the best tips and tricks (
Oh my gosh thank you so much that is exactly what i was looking for! I didn't even know what it was called to look for it haha. I appreciate your help very much
There are lots of premade piping available too. Very cheap. Here is satin in many colors (which is what I think you mean by "silky") https://www.amazon.com/Satin-Piping-Binding-Tape-Wide/dp/B07XXGLXQG?th=1 Here it is in five yard pieces. It's a little cheaper by the yard that way. https://www.amazon.com/Satin-Piping...7XM4JFSM/ref=pd_lpo_1?pd_rd_i=B07XM4JFSM&th=1
