I take about 50-100 photos, lucky to get 5 I like usually get 2 or 3 that I like. Alot of the photos I take are the same in case my camera focused on the wrong thing, blurryness, shaking hands. It's kinda dissapointing when you're like 'Oh I took 100 photos, but I only like 2 of them' XD
I take about 25-50% of shots I've done. I use DSLR and RAW though, and my hands are not too shaky... When I had a compact camera the results could be 2-3 photos out of 100.
It depends on my mood and the lighting in the room/area. Usually out of 10 photos for one idea only one is usable. Though I typically take about 20-30 shots for any given idea and slowly decrease which ones I liked or came out good.
I'm happy if I get 5 good shots out of a 100-shot set. It does sound discouraging, but it's pretty normal.
It depends. Sometimes everything is perfect and I can take 20 pics and get 6 great ones, and sometimes I end up with 70 photo's and get 12 good ones.
I take tons of photos sometimes 10-20 and when I'm really into it maybe more. Alot turn out blurried or just not the right angle or something, so in the end I only end up with a handfull of good ones. Occasionally though I'll end up with 5 photos that are almost exactly the same good, but all slightly different and then I don't know which one to choose!
I just finished a major photography project for an exam which consisted of 20 photos, but I took 2002 photos in total. :P That's one percent.
I keep taking pictures until I get 5 nonblurry ones for each pose/scene/angle. Which is alot of photos because I don't have a tripod.
Unless I'm lucky and get the perfect lighting I need... It's usually one out of every 10-15. Usually shooting outdoors can help pump up this number, but not always. I use a IS lens (image stablizer) so I can minimize the chance of me getting blurry photo ><
I usually take 10 pictures of the shame pose from slight angles, and then pick one that turned out the best. Sometimes i don't like any of them.
Out of fourty (my usual) maybe 3-6. But for non dolly things, it's a LOT less, like I'll take 200+ cosplay photos and my return is like... 8.
when I do shoots I rarely use more than one photo out of the whole set, but I generally shoot around 50 and then like about 3-4 however, I shoot multiples of the same angles, and test out different settings. I generally don't delete photos till I look at them on the computer, unless they're entirely blown out or similarly horrible.
I shot about 80 yesterday and got around six or seven shots that I put up. I probably have 30 usable shots there, but many are duplicates of the same pose with slightly different angles or lighting. One of the hardest things to get used to for me with doll photography is that I have to move the doll. I know that sounds obvious, but I'm used to working with real models and it took me a few shoots to get used to shooting with something that didn't move itself between frames!
On the average, during a photo session of about a 100 shots I shoot 5 to 7 different sets, a separate set per each change in pose or location. Out of each set I take one, very rarely two pictures for the final set. In the end, it comes down to 5 good photos per each 100 shots.
I usually take 200/300 pictures and find aprox. 15 of them usable seems like very few, but even pros in the modelindustry shoot A LOT of pictures and always end up just using one or two.
I take around 200-400 shots for each shoot on a normal day. I get maybe 3-5 good shots that aren't too repetitive. For a quick shoot, something around 50 shots, and I'll be lucky if 1 is good. Usually for quick shoots I have to be less picky or I won't get any photos from it...
I have a Canon Rebel XT, and usually take between 10 to 40 images at a standard photo shoot, and I'm usually pleased with about 80% of them.
50-80 photos taken, depends on my mood, with the end only 5-6 pics useable am i a bad photographer too?
I take between 10 to 40 photos for one shoot. Then i select the 3 or 4 better and i build my story with.
I am wickedly picky so if I take my time I'll wind up with around 300 pictures to go through, and probably really only want to keep or post 5 or so, usually not more than that. Something small will always be either too in focus or too out of focus for me to keep, or there might have been something awkward about the picture if I hadn't. As was said before with other people with quicker shoots I have to be less picky if I want some to be able to show.
Some photoshoots I only end up taking 2-4 photos but some I take anything close to 200. But most of them is me fighting with focus. XD I don't tend to post more than 1 or 2 photos from a shoot as I like my flickr stream to be as non repetitive as I can. I usually have 5-8 that I narrow it down to then I pick my fave 1 or 2 to post but usually keep the other 5 just for my self.
I usually take between 30 and 60 pictures in a photoshoot depending on where it takes place. In the end I have one MAYBE two pictures that I actually use/post on my dA. It's HARD to get good photos sometimes :<
It's the same for me. But it's not that the photos aren't nessesarily good. It's about which ones I like out of the group of photos. I think I'm pretty picky when it comes to the photos I use and like. Lol. But I usually only use one or two out of a photoshoot.
Mostly, I take 20 to 100 photos and only 2 to 6 get chosen out of them as 'good ones'. You are surely not the only one.
_xD I've come to find that I seem to be the same way... For a while, though, I was using a standard digital camera, which was really good and it's been a very reliable little thing for years. But recently my sister got a high-techy camera, that I borrow. And that thing can produce some niiiiiice shots. Really does well for keeping pictures in focus, too. @_@ I'm trying to figure out lighting, myself... would be great to have one of those sunlight bulbs... I also take like forty to seventy pictures before finding the, like, ten that I like. _xD
I always end up with 1, rarely 2, after each shoot. Mostly because I don't like to show more then one of the same 'idea' at a time. I always take about 200-300 shots. A lot of wich are quite repetitive , usually it's a change of settings and focus here and there.
i think that is fairly common between people who cares for a good photo, i tend to take about 30 and use only 3 or 4
It doesn't mean you're a bad photographer. In fact, a friend of mine is a fantastic photographer, borderline professional, and he takes tons of pictures just to get that perfect shot. It's normal. I personally take about 30 pictures in a photoshoot to get about 5 good pictures.
Personally, I make approximately 30 photos and at most 5 are made a success, is needed a lot of patience! But I have a bad camera with only 8mpx.
I haven't been doing many large photo shoots lately - I usually take somewhere around 50 photo's and actively try to thin them out to 5 or less. If I only get one good picture out of it, it's fine with me, especially with simple mugshots and stuff. Then I really focus on trying to decide what is the ONE best picture. So with a simple photo shoot like that, I often get one out of them. For me, a larger photo shoot is usually 100 - 150 pictures, and depending on the flow of the poses I keep something around 7 - 10. I try to keep it under 10 to filter out the 'pretty okay' photos :3 It's different for everyone. My friend likes to spam the camera, slightly altering her position every time, and therefore ends up with three times the amount of pictures than I do. I like to wiggle around until it's perfect and then take one or two shots in the position I'm in.
Me too, I usually take from 20 to 30. I usually end up with...one .____. XD Okay, not really. Around three, four tops.
I usually take from 30-90 photos depending on how much time I have XD 60 photos would get me around 10-ish decent ones and maybe 2-4 good ones DX
I'm fairly picky, so if I take 100-200 pictures, I might only keep 10-12 of them. It's not because they're necessarily "bad" photos that I don't keep them, but because there might be a bunch of shots that are similar or because something doesn't look as good in the end as I thought it would when I set it up. Like a lot of people have said before, on a quick shoot, I'll be far less picky. If I just want to take a few quick pictures to show off something, I'm not quite as concerned about composition.
depending on how perfectionist i feel and the setup conditions of the shoot, it may vary. but i would say on average, 1 in 10 pictures is acceptable to me* *edit - sometimes i post lo-quality pics from my phone that are one-offs and i'm okay with that, but when we are talking about a real photoshoot this is what i mean
Depends on how perfect I want the shoot, and if I was looking for something very specific... I usually get about 2 or 3, sometimes only 1 or even none, out of maybe 50ish shots? It varies.
I use 20 minuts on eachphotoshoot. I take around 100 pictures. Arond 90 is okay. Arond 30 is very good, so it is difficult to choose from them. Some days, almost every pictures have something good expression, other days I can sit with just two or one pic I really like.
It is totally normal for photoshoots like this. I normally have 100-300 photos per shoot and only use 0-3 out of them depending on how it turned out ^^" Its just easier to filter out the good stuff from more photos than fewer.
I'm super picky about my photos. Out of 100 pictures I rarely post more than 3 photos. Usually less. Of course many of them are useable, but there might be angles, light, details in the picture, zooming etc. etc. that I'm not satisfied with.
I take way too many photos during a shoot, majority of the time I will only get 2 or 3 good ones out of 30 photos taken.
When I go on photo hikes with my dolls, I'll typically shoot around 600 RAW images, which is really only 100 unique compositions most of the time since I routinely use +/-1/2 stop bracketing as well as shooting the same shot at different f-stops (typically 2.8, 4.0, sometimes 5.6). When I get back and dump my card contents, the first thing I do is run through all the shots and mark the blurry, duplicate and uninspiring ones for delete, keeping only good sharp images and the best exposed frame from any set of 3 bracketed shots. After the first pass of culling, I'm usually only looking critically at about 40 photos from the original 600, from which maybe 10-12 end up on Flickr.
When I take photos I usually take at least four or five of the same pose before reposing or using a different angle, so my shots always end up being about 150 per shoot, but I don't always get that many good shots. My hands always seem to be super shaken when I want to take pics. I'd say about 30 of my photos are useable, but maybe half of that are "good" usable.
Most useful photography site online. MHO, and FYI, I do the photography thing for a living. Photographing dolls is almost like photographing people. That's a main reason my dolls exist actually. I use them as models all the time to practice my human portrait skills. There are a number of DIY table set ups here. All you need really is a box of the right size, tissue paper, a box cutter, and some hardware lights. http://www.diyphotography.net/ http://www.diyphotography.net/homestudio/super-simple-light-tent Also, I get those little round LCD lights from Big Lots, use them a lot as handy spots to illuminate things. I use white paper, car reflectors, aluminum foil to bounce back light. Whatever works to get light where you need it.
Out of every 20 pictures taken, only about 1 or 2 are usable. After taking around 30 pictures I am failing into despair because of my lack of abilities and stop photographing till next time.
oh, well, when i get out for a photo shooting i usually take 80-100 shots and, at least, i save 8-10 of them..i usually take repetitive pictures, 4-5 of the same pose, and then change position..
I can take loads in one shoot- at least 50 usually, but only ever post one cx I guess it gives me a greater range to choose from.
I'm still learning how to operate my camera, but my average has improved! Usually out of 20-30 pictures I'll get 3-5 or so that I like. I have a hard time getting it to focus/selecting the right exposure. I used to take over 100 pictures per shoot and come out with five or so that looked passable. I know another photographer who takes portraits and street photography, not BJD pictures, and he'll take hundreds and come out with only a few, so I think it's just the nature of photography.
Well…hehehehe…I can get up to 100-200 (depends on how comfortable I am) but I can usually only like to keep 10 of those lol If anything when I take pictures of wildlife…500 hundred is a good number for me but then I narrow them down to 90-100 so don’t feel bad
Just yesterday, I took about 70 shots and only 6 of them turned out how I had in mind. Then again I was just using my phone so I had to be sure to make plenty of shots for my photostory~
It depends. If I'm playing around with my camera settings/lighting, maybe 1 out of 50 or 60. If I know my lighting is good (which is rare if I'm in my apartment which is 99% of the time) then maybe.... 2 out of 50 or 60 :-p Okay maybe it's not that bad LOL
