I have 17 dolls. I do have quite a bit of clothing from over the years. I can never help myself when buying clothes for them. They dress nicer than me honestly. I have 2 32qt totes for SD and MSD clothes and smaller totes for my bigger boy, yosd, cosplay, dresses, pants and underwear/accessories. I had done a major organization for their clothes. But in all honesty I need to change their outfits more often.
Not nearly as extensive as I would like I’m hoping to do a clothes haul sometime soon though for my dolls to expand my collection
I have mostly BJDs in the 1/6 scale range - mature tinies mostly - so I am quite lucky in that clothing made for fashion dolls can fit them really well. I have a box full of clothing, that I really need to do through and sort out properly so that I can make sure everyone has the right outfits for themselves. I also make stuff myself, which adds to it all, so... More than I should have? My 1/4 scale girl needs some more - I need to get sewing more.
Not extensive at all... I'm very picky about clothing and am averse to clutter, so I've really not collected many articles at all. I am still searching for the perfect dress for my first BJD, a Minifee Hwayu!
Very extensive! My doll wardrobe often expands beyond my storage methods, so I've periodically done culls, but next thing I know, I'm scrambling for more/better storage. On the positive side, over the years I've been able to accommodate most of the body types I have. However the last few years I've decided not to buy certain newer body types because I'm less willing to pursue new clothing size ranges. There are limits, lol.
Unfortunately not yet! The style I want for my girl has been difficult to come by in things that live up to my standards. I've followed some clothing makers on twitter so I'm hoping to change the state of her closet soon. I'd like to get to the point she needs her own closet. I also own a sewing machine though and would love to get to the point I can make some clothes myself. However, my priority is learning to make human-sized clothes so I'm not sure when I'll get around to practicing doll pieces. Maybe when I have scrap fabric?
Yup. I've dedicated half my closet space to it. I'm also pretty much done buying any more clothes since I stuck to a single scale/bust size to maximize compatibility.
For a long time I was an extreme minimalist when it came to dolls and would only have one outfit per doll (which they usually wore) with at most some seasonal accessories like winter coats/sweaters/boots. Basically treating them like an anime character and their signature outfit. Now I'm realizing that it's fun to have options, even ones not necessarily character-accurate, so I've eased off on trying to sell of the "extras" and am slowly amassing a collection of clothes. My iMda 3.0/Yo-sized wardrobe is up to 5 outfits, so that's fun! My MSD-sized one is currently just 1.5 (two different sets of pants) with some others kicking around that aren't character-accurate anymore (but that I still like). My 1/8 wardrobe is just one outfit though, because the little hands make it a pain to swap out (and my girl is hard to shop for, since she's a much less standard size). I'm hoping that I can have a curated but healthy collection going forward! I re-did my own closet a few years back to basically have it be full of pieces that can match with everything else, so now I wanna do the same for my dolls.
I'm actually just about finished with finding at least one outfit for each of my dolls. Since I have over 100 now, that's quite a chore. Currently I have one MSD-sized doll waiting for a dress (and in need of shoes), and a couple of Doll Chateau girls that need outfits that I will have to make myself, since they have odd-shaped bodies. 5 out of 103 isn't bad, IMHO. The dolls that have the biggest wardrobes are my PukiPuki size dolls - I used to buy a lot of second-hand Kelly/Shelly outfits, so I have a whole box of them. Fortunately these are all very tiny outfits, so they do fit in small boxes.
It’s safe to say my dolls have a bigger wardrobe than I do, I have way more fun dressing them than I do myself. I buy a lot of secondhand clothing so I put like colors together in separate storage boxes so the dyes don’t stain.
Not very big. I really wish I had what I used to have before a thief got all that. I have dolls again now but it's been very makeshift dressing this set, especially the SD ones. I'll get there eventually. But I miss all the shoes and the wigs and clothes I once had.
I only have 1 doll, so I’d say it’s fairly extensive relatively speaking. I have fair number of shirts and pants/skirts I can mix and match. Currently all his clothes are in a little cardboard box, which doesn’t look very nice but is working well so far.
I have 4 dolls that do share clothes mutually. But say it, they already have around 50 set of clothes and I never stop looking for new ones ! It's good that most of time doll clothes don't wear, don't need to be washed, and rather easy to sell when they don't fit ( campare to human clothes
This is almost embarrassing to admit, but I'm less picky about dolls than clothing. Most of the time I'm not fully content with how an outfit looks like and want to change something specific about it, but I'm not that skilled (yet) and buying the outfit now and storing it until I have the skills is not a good idea because clutter is awful. So... not extensive. My dolls all have something to wear, but I'm not happy with them as they are.
Not very extensive at all at the moment. I currently own two outfits for my dolls and I only have those because they were part of fullsets I wanted. I have plans to make each of my dolls at least one outfit that suits them and the idea of them I have in my mind. A couple of my characters are fashion associated so I’ll hopefully have more than just one outfit for them. I’m currently taking stock of my spending and probably won’t be doing much buying in the foreseeable future.
Not very extensive at all since I collected dolls for maybe two years the went on a hiatus for five due to covid shutting everything down. So my collection is mostly Barbie clothes since I fell in love with Atelier Momoni pitusas (4) near the end of my collecting previously and back then it was so hard to find clothes for them. Now since I am back in the hobby I have to make up for lost time and get tons of everything for all my dollies. Especially since I have my own house now.
I would say they have probably more clothes than I do at this point. I have 22 boys (minus the 1/12 scale ones, but theur wardrobe fits neatly into small binders) in the scales from 1/6 to 1/3 and it's all the same two characters, but ... I pamper them. I love changing clothes somewhat fitting to the seasons (or just when I'm in the mood), so I cycle through them. Window shopping online is also super fun, but I try to slow down with buying new things. It is both a blessing and a curse that they are dressed in modern clothes, so it is pretty easy to spot nice things for them. Changing their outfits is one of my favourite parts of the hobby though, it just has something relaxing to sit down and dress them up.
I only have one doll right now, besides my off topic ones that have full wardrobes. I have two outfits for her at the moment, but have lots more planned. I like to design and sew my own so it's easy to go overboard. I'm also guilty of hoarding doll shoes lol. I'm a firm believer that shoes make the outfit, so I tend to have a pair for almost each outfit. For my current doll, I actually have more shoes than outfits until I finish sewing her dress today. Something I need to work on is making sure I have other accessories. I tend to lack things like hair accessories, purses, socks etc for my dolls.
I have dolls In many different sizes, so I don't want to have much to each doll ( take to much space). Some of my dolls share several outfit. Most of my dolls have only one outfit. Some dolls have more than one outfit to them self, be it the story they are in or festive season. its not like I don't like my dolls with only one outfit, I just haven't had the need to get them another one.. I try to not buy so much.
Not as extensive as my own (and I feel bad about it!). Unfortunately I am very very picky and the style I like for myself which is very 90s goth is not a common style at all especially with the size of doll I mainly collect 70cm guys/Iplehouse EID men and as such I can never find anything I really want available to buy. I’ve managed to cobble some things I like together but honestly I gave up trying to clothe some of my dolls at all and just kept them in their boxes. I want to get back into doing my own sewing again but I don’t have a lot of time or motivation these days.
I have a hard time finding clothes for my dolls, they're not the usual sizes. I also have a hard time finding the styles I want to dress them in, and I can't make clothes (im a horrid seamster). If anyone here with lots of clothes has any tips on how to build up wardrobes for bigger than usual SDs....please help! My dolls NEED clothes.
Pretty pathetic these days but I'm working on it one doll at a time. I had SO much stuff before but when a thief got it while I was moving he pretty much wiped me out. 25 years worth of doll outfits, some expensive. I've done a lot of Macgyvering in terms of clothing my dolls these past few years. But I am nowhere near anything like what I had especially in terms of my BJDs.
Mercy my dolls have almost a big a wardrobe as me! I love collecting clothes, usually high quality kimonos, ancient robes and lacy Victorian or fantasy clothing. It’s terrible really I’m running out to space lol
