How do you like Lati-Doll?

Oct 9, 2005

    1. Hi guys! little miss researcher is here again for faqs and stuff. Can those of you who OWN Lati-dolls tell me more about them, please?

      http://latidoll.com/

How do you find their resin? (compared to say Volks, and Cerberus Project?)
Was it easy for you to order from them? Did you find shipping times acceptable? How do you pay?

      - do you like the sculpting style of the dolls? do you think that they look finished?

I know that they have a few lines...

      ------Tiny dolls (Yellow Line),
---- similar in style and size to BlueFairy's Pocket Fairy.
Those of you who have had both Pocket Fairy and Latidoll, which do you prefer? Which poses better? Can they share clothing? Do you find posing on tiny latidoll to be limited?

----- Green Line - (roughly msd sized, but smaller at 30 cm)
      - again, how did you find the posing, is it easy to sit and stand? Can it do good poses and hold poses well? Do you find that they can share clothing with other sizes of dolls? (if so, which?)

and then I guess the blue line (the large boy) isn't out yet, so no one really knows about that one!

Thanks again for any help you can give.

    2. I second this! :D

Someday I hope to own a Coco, and would love more information other than just the sqwee worthy pictures!

    3. I'm also quite interested in hearing more about Latidoll; I'd love to get my hands on a Lea, and I'm very in love with our mystery-boy Blue.

How long has this company been around, anyway?

    4. I own both Lea and Miel. I like the resin quality it is almost like those of CP's. It is easy to order from them and when you post questions, they answer you the next day on their question board. They usually tell you the shipping time on the item's page (for dolls, it says the waiting time is 15-20 days after payment is confirmed). I paid for my dolls with Paypal.

Yes, I do like the sculpting style of the dolls and they do look finished. The only flaw I found was tiny hairline cracks on their arms but Latidoll told me it was due to the material/process of making the resin that caused these. They are really thin and can only be seen if looked closely.

I also have a PF choco. I think Latidolls are a bit easier to pose but they do not share the same clothes because Latidolls (yellow) are bigger than PF. For Latidolls I find them easy to pose without any limitations (which was amazing to me). The arms and hands are able to twist and turn in wide range field. The head is also pretty stable and is able to turn for various angles.

    5. They're so pretty.. but so small ._.

    6. I have a LatiDoll Renia (green size) that just arrived on the 6th. :) I ordered her September 17th (would have bought her sooner, but I wanted to wait until they got their Paypal situation fixed), and LatiDoll did a pretty good job of confirming my order, letting me know when she shipped, etc. (And yes, it's sad that I have to mention this, but not all companies are as on-top of things!)

I'm working my way towards a full review of her, but to answer your questions:

The resin feels very high quality. I have a DoD, AR LF, and Pureskin Volks MSD; in terms of actually touching it, it feels at least as good as as the MSD. Of course, that could just have to do with how new it is. ;)

I chose the normal-skin option, and it was significantly more yellow than I was expecting. I met up with Bittenbefore, and I think she mentioned that it might be similar color and quality to CP resin?

She is a little "kicky", for lack of a better term, and she doesn't have a torso joint... but seems to pose well otherwise. Both her hands and feet are jointed via a string looped through two holes drilled in the wrist ball or ankle ball. If you've ever seen the old DoD hands, they look pretty much like that. The loop of string is then looped around and through the arm elastic. It makes it a little tricky to get extreme angles with the wrist.

She sits fine, and will generally stand OK. In fact, I left her standing overnight!

I haven't tried other BJD clothing on her, but a 12" male fashion doll outfit would not quite fit her. It was a close thing, though, so I'm going to root through my husband's 12" action figures and see if some of the GI JOE clothes might work, since GI JOE is shorter and stockier.

An Angelina Ballerina 9" plush doll fashion also fits, although it's a bit tight.

I've found that DoD wigs are a bit loose on her, but a Volks SD Cute wig fits PERFECTLY. One Acquire 6/7 wig (for Unoa) fit, but another was a bit too tight. DoD wigs will sit on her head, but are loose and shift around a bit.

      I hope this helps!

    7. thanks a lot guys, this is really helpful! (to me and I'm sure to people who are considering buying from Latidoll!)

if anyone else would like to chime in, please do!

also, if you own the dolls and would like to post threads of your photos, that's fine too. (preferably with some comments about how you like the doll, etc...) :)

    8. Hi Aimee :daisy
Those dolls are very cute! :chibi
I had never heard about them before, so thanks for the link! :daisy

    9. so, both yellow and green lines are a-sexual then?

shan mentioned they come with extra hands, do all of them come with an extra set of hands... or? how are the extras different from the normal ones?
the green line says they come with boy+girl hands, does that mean clasping hands?

I'm guessing that they plan to restock their "basics" eventually? does anyone know?

    10. I think the basics have already sold out and been restocked once since they opened. (I was watching the site like a hawk!)

My Basic Renia came with two sets of hands. The ones that came on her body were the standard "slightly closed" relaxed hands (not sure how to describe them, but most BJDs have these hands).

The extra hands that came separately were flat, wide-open hands.

I think the "boy&girl hand parts" means "hand parts that are appropriate for both boys and girls". I wish I'd thought ahead and asked them about it on their Q&A board... if I missed out on clasped hands, I'm going to be very sad!

      Edit:
I saw your post in the News section, Aimee.

I believe LatiDoll has fixed the problem they had with shipping.
For my one basic Green doll, it cost me $54 in shipping. The shipping box was HUGE, and the outfit, wig, and certificate of authenticity were packed in a separate box than the doll herself.

      Edit 2:
I went and asked the hand parts question in Latidolls Q&A. Hopefully they'll clear up the mystery!

    11. thanks twotone! that's really really helpful. just one more thing though, are they asexual? (ie do the boys have "boy parts down there" and same for the girls?)

    12. I don't have a boy doll (alas!) so I can't say for them... but the Renia body is pretty much asexual, with a featureless groin.

    13. I don't have a latidoll, but I'm fairly certain that the bodies are asexual. The FAQ on the Latidoll site has two individual posts with photos of the Yellow body and the Green body. Both are, as twotone said, completely featureless, which is a bit of a disappointment in my opinion.

    14. I have a Ronnie, he also has an asexual body.

As for hands, I'm really guessing if I wanted him to be a girl, the other set of hands is slimmer and pointy.

    15. LatiDoll responded to my question, and Yumi is correct:
The slightly curved hands are the boy&girl hands (can be used for either).
The mostly-open hands are the girl hands.

    16. thanks so much guys!

    17. How much was shipping for one of the yellow line dolls? was it still $54? thanks!

    18. bump! since they have more dolls now, I'd like to know more reviews. ^_^

    19. I have 2 Latis.... one from the yellow line, one from the green line. Both pose REALLY well. ... particularly the green line. When you move their arms and legs, they stay in position nicely, so I guess this means they're strung well, too. The yellows have very short arms, so this limits their arm movement only in the sense that resin baby arms that short naturally can't move as far. I had a Serendipity Candy once, (another tiny), with arms just as short, and she posed less well than my Lati yellow.

My green line Ronnie poses better than any doll I've ever seen personally. He can hold poses with both his arms and legs, and can stand quite well. He is Petite Ai sized, and can share clothing with them.

My only negative comment about the yellow line is that because they have big heads, once you put their wigs on them they become top-heavy, and so they fall over backward easily when you sit them down. They can stand nicely, though, just like the green line.

Their resin is a superb quality, and they came to me without seams, with high-quality faceups (face paint). The shipping was only a week for my yellow, and was either 2 or 3 weeks for my green (I can't remember). Compared to my Souldoll, Lati resin is a better quality than Souldoll's, and the Lati face paint is also done better. I also have compared them to a Soom doll, and the Lati resin is slightly better than Soom's, also, in my opinion. I can't compare the faceups, because I've never seen a default Soom faceup in person.

Their head caps are easy to open, and held on by magnets. It's also easy to get the head off the body for restringing or painting, should you need to.

I paid for mine with PayPal. Their web site was easy to navigate, and payment was easy for me to do from their site. Really, I can't praise Latidoll enough. They deliver a quality product, and their service is good.

Both my dolls came with extra hands, also. That was a nice touch. Get it? "Nice touch"? Get it? *slinks off to hide*

    20. I have a Green Ronnie and a Red K. I love them both. The quality of the resin is really nice. Ronnie poses very nicely too. My only complaint about the Red Body is the knees. The lower part of the leg always goes backwards and is a pain to pose sometime. hopefully when i wire him it fixes the problem.

Lati packages there stuff really well too. the boxes are thick and are lined with foam and then the dolls are bubblewrapped and put in between two pillows. Both came with two boxes. One box for the doll and then another box for there stuff.

    21. I have Lati Green White and Yellow ...I love them

    22. We have a Lati Red M in our house, and i'm pleased to say that he's all around amazing. His resin has a... "harder" feeling than my DOT Shall, but it's still really nice quality.

He poses like disco. Hip poping action, people. The scupt itself is very manly and realistic, with a wide range of motion. And yes, he can touch himself. So cool. The only bad thing about his scupt is that his knees go wonky on occation and turn around and go in all crazy directions. He can sit up straight well, and can stand just abount anyway you'd wish, although i haven't tried standing him on one leg yet, so i'm not sure if that will work.

The only silly thing about them is their tiiiiny heads. Kemper wigs fit, although normal SD wigs won't. I havne't tried my Shalls wigs on yet, or ones that i have coming, but i'll add an update on that later.

Lati ordering is a little complicated. They ask some really stupid questions on the credit card fill out form. When they ask for the phone number of the card, they mean the "In case of a lost or stolen card, or if you need customer service call this toll-free number."

Shipping itself, once they acctually shipped, was four days from Korea to CA. The preparing to ship took quite some time, but when he got here he was wonderfully and safely packaged.

      I hope this helps. ^^

    23. I got a Lati Yellow Coco for my Mom- but she spends her time with my girls. I got her 2nd hand, so I dunno about their service- but otherwise- her normal skin is pretty fair compared to CP normal resin- more like my Narsha- but her little hands and everything are so finely sculpted and detailed- and she poses way better than my PF Yoko. She holds her poses better- can hold small items- and her resin is quite like the french resin of my Narsha and my Narae- very smooth and the coloring is all the same with no variations to look mismatched anywhere but more opaque like CP resin. She is taller and larger than my PF Yoko and can stand with alot of stability. Hope this helped!

    24. We've got a LatiBlue Cara. The body poses fairly well, once we tightened her string up a bit. She looks very finished in my opinion, but shiny as all heck till a good friend buffed her down. The knees are a little wonky, too, but all in all, I think it's fabulous.

    25. I can't remember if I posted here or not...

I have a Pury. Their service was good, it was shipped out pretty fast; in about 2 weeks I think. Their packaging is wonderful! The box itself is very sturdy and thick. There's a translucent inside the box laying over the doll that has the doll's picture and name on it. It comes with a certificate of authenticity. My Pury came with an extra pointing hand, extra magnets for her headcap, and extra elastic! That was a very nice touch! :D

Let me just say, that their faceups are TO DIE FOR. The details on Pury's teeny tiny face are amazing!! The delicate hairs of her eyebrows, her eye lashes, and the little lines drawn at the corner of her mouth to give her a smile, are so delicate and fine! By far, the nicest default faceup I've seen. I am so afraid to mess up that faceup! I don't think I could ever do such a good job!! :...(

She is white skin. It's less yellow than CP BW and Volks white skin. Her posing is very good for one so tiny! She stands very well also. It takes a little patience to balance her(because of her big heavy head ;) ) but she still stands better than my CH or SD10!

I highly reccommend Latidoll! *thumbs up!*

    26. Lati Red heads take 8 inch wigs, I believe.

    27. I adore my Latis. I have 2 white, 2 yellow, and 1 green. I was very happy with their service, love their faceups, love the resin & posing. I've had loads of fun shopping for them and just finding things that fit. They are so dang cute I can hardly stand it. My little boy loves them too. We've had so much fun with them we bought them houses. Here's a link to my photobucket

okay so I couldn't stop at a couple pic. sorry

    28. Their resin is very nice.. it's a little shinier than Volks pureskin, but it's sturdy and has a nice weightiness when held. It's smooth, no tooth to it.

It was very easy to order. I paid with Paypal. My doll arrived about two weeks later, wonderfully packed and with a bunch of freebies.

I have the Lati Green Lea and she's an awesome poser. She's very stable-- I leave her standing for days without a stand. Her body sculpt is pretty, especially her hands. They're very detailed. She's too big for Yo-SD outfits, but she can wear Petite Ai things. She shares wigs with my Yo-SD and Petite.

      Hope this helps :)

    29. Seeing as my Lati Red K is my first doll, it's hard for me to draw much of a comparison, but it's clear that his resin is pretty shiny in some parts. There are certain parts on his body (hands, feet, neck in particular) that aren't smooth and have a bit of texture to them, but I'm actually really fond of that. I've also noticed that his lower leg part (his calves) appear to be a slightly different colour from his thighs, but it's minor and I don't mind very much. His seams appear to have been sanded down, and although there are certain lines that are still clearly visible, they aren't rough to the touch at all.

His lanky legs have been an absolute nightmare so far. His upper leg joints have a tendency to swivel around a lot, and his knees often pop out of place too. There's a... "shelf" sort of thing on the back of his knee joint that locks him into a standing position, and I've nearly had my fingers caught in there popping them out in order to get him to sit down. *_*

Regardless of his leg problems though, his arms and hands are lovely. Very expressive and very poseable, although my K has some trouble holding his arms up, but I think it might have more to do with stringing issues than anything. And magnetic headcaps are the best thing since sliced bread, and his head looks like it can be removed without much hassle. Latidoll also gives you extra string and magnets, which is wonderful, although the fact that his hands and feet are attached with weird "latch" like mechanisms seems difficult to deal with and I think it might be good to invest in some s-hooks.

I paid with credit card, and although their credit card payment form is absurdly long and impossible to comprehend, I emailed them about my concerns and my payment went through without much of a problem about a day or two later.

Personally, I think Latidoll is a wonderful company to deal with, and they produce lovely dolls~ :aheartbea

    30. more questions! :)

what brands of clothing or sizes of clothing fit the various size ranges?

(hopefully this thread will be useful to everyone)

    31. I'm waiting for a Lati Red M that I've paid for on the 5th of March. I'm actually wondering how long it'll actually take for them to ship him.

    32. I have a green line one, 30 cm tall...I find that most of the ySD-sized are well-fitted on her, as well as the shoes. Of course, it should be careful to buy those outfit because sometimes cannot fit...if possible, ask more and have a look on a real one is better...

The service of Latidoll is very nice! I feel her sincereness outside and inside the boxes!

Here I wrote some about the latidoll in my bLog when I bring her to my home.
Link to the post in my bLog
Sry that the blog is written in Chinese...^^"

    33. You seem to be forgetting about the Red line. I have both M & Aida from that group & their sculpts are wonderful, very realistic faces & highly detailed bodies. The resin is great too. Just be aware that these big boys have rather small heads, they only wear a 7-8 wig. My only complaint with them is that their legs are too twisty. They're long & lanky & can get into a lot of poses but the lower leg likes to turn around. Maybe some sueding would take care of that problem though. Otherwise, they're great & I highly recommend them.

    34. I've got a lati green and she is fantastic. I've got her some bambicrony stuff that fits her but she is longer in the leg and torso so all in ones don't work so well and pants are short in the leg. And pette Ai stuff and cutie delf also fits her.
Lati have a good comparrison chart (what fits what) in their FAQ.

She poses like a dream, the arms keep the pose and she can stand in all kinds of postions.

    35. I thought that too, till I realised that Aimee had written the topic way back in 2005 :sweat That was before the Red line came out, I believe.

    36. I have two lati yellows and a lati white on the way. The white is the first I've ordered from the web site and it was easy! I just ordered a few days ago, so she hasn't arrived yet, but I can check her status daily! I love the yellows posing! They are great! I have owned a PF, and they cannot share clothes. PF's are to small. They don't pose as well either. Lati's resin is great! Very nice and it's hard to find the seems on mine! (Haven't been sanded!) Best of luck!

    37. I have the limited Chaim in the red line limited and he is AMAZING. Very sturdy and heavy and the different in proportion means he looks much more adult. He has a 'package' that is detailed, which they apparently don't do on their smaller models. I was very impressed with the presentation of the doll also. The box and cushions with little tassles make you feel like you are opening up a priceless treasure. His clothes are very high quality, like volks. I would recommend Latidoll to anyone.

    38. I have a green and a red from Lati. I LOVE the resin quality, as my little green girl has takes nome SCARY tumbles, and come out without a scratch. She's a tough little thing! The resin can be a bit shiny, but also very smoth and beautiful. It has a nice weight to it. I think the volks pureskin is a little softer to the touch, but I'm hard-pressed so say which I like more.
As far as posability, I've seen nothing better than Lati so far. It's true the red line legs twist a lot, and can be a bit frustrating. However, that twistiness, once you're used to it, allows for even more range of motion. It's a pain to get into a pose, but once you figure it out, he can do ANYTHING. They are also stable, as both of my Latis can stand on one foot unassisted. My red can even do that without sueding or wiring. (green required sueding for the task.) Their heads have especially nice free motion. Green hands seem to have a little more limitation on thier posing, as they do not use a seperate wrist ball, but instead attached ball for the joint. Still, not too bad.

Other notes, awsome head-caps. Magnets are so much more convenient than the rubber band thing... Company service was good, fast, and came with a few little bonuses I didn't expect, ...and I can't think of anything more here.

As far as clothes, my Lati girl shares with the Yos of the house, though she's a bit bigger and not all yo clothes fit perfectly. They are very close. For red, no idea. I've made his clothes so far, so I've not tried to find compatablity. He wears MSD wigs though. (TINY head!)

Anyway, I highly recommend this brand. Generally, they are my favorite so far, I think. ^_^

    39. Of all the dolls I have in DEFAULT state Lati does THE best makeup. I have had quite a few dolls at this point as well as volks. The makeup is very detailed amazing eyebrow work and lips and blush top quality as you would expect if you paid one of the best artists to do the makeup. The makeup on the tinies is done as well as the large dolls!

The resin on my Lati yellow is not shiny and is super smooth and a high quality with nice creamy white tone to it with just a hint of pink. Its my favorite resin color and type of my dolls I own.

Packaging is really something as most owners will mention it in threads of openings, the box itself is well made and thick of high quality materials. I was really blown away by how perfect the box was! then the packaging is done really well with the foam cut out that protects the doll and the little plastic packages.

The whole doll is a pleasure. I think they put a great amount of time into the design from start to finish.

Lati yellow do of course have rather large heads for the bodies! It took me a while to get used to this. I would prefer them to be a tiny bit smaller head wise but they do have a certain chibi cute factor because of it.

Aimee the makeup actually looks allot like the artist that did your suzuna made me wonder if it was the same artist.

    40. Totally agree your views, especially the MAKEUP and the BOX...
The default makeup of Latidoll is really good indeed...of course you cannot compare with the makeup of those famous visagiste...

    41. MSD 7/8. I would say the head is much closer to 7 as a 7/8 still has alot of movement on his head, but doesnt swamp it like an 8/9 does.

    42. I LOve LoVE Lati dolls!! I own a total of 13 yellow BB's.. but be careful you can't just have one. They're addicting!!

    43. Oh, don't say that. I have 2 lati yellow Laches on the way, and ordered 2 more last night. Not telling how many I have now . . .

I love the quality, but wait so long for them to arrive. Look how cute my Lina is:

A Belle SP white is enroute as well, they should be here next week.

    44. I have just one Lati White at home :)

As many have already mentioned, the faceup is simply gorgeous.
He poses beautifully for a tiny as well (white line special body), though he has a bit of a problem with sitting when in his default pants.

The packaging was good too. Such a huge box for a 12cm doll!
The face mask, however, seems a little on the big side for such a tiny face.
Other than that, everything was beautifully and carefully packed.

Communication, though, was a disappointment for me.
Although they answer questions on a daily basis, receiving 'standardized replies' did not seem very appropriate.
Also not very pleased with shipping delays - yes yes there were lots of orders, I understand, but it would have been better if I had been better informed.

    45. I'd definitely like to know more about clothes that fit the Lati Red basic line...

    46. I am completely loyal to Lati. :) Why? Because their face-ups are gorgeous! Honestly, the wait for your Lati is no longer than any of the other companies you may choose to order from, and the customer service is very kind. Also, if you specify which color eyes you want, they've given me each color I've wanted in the past. I have a Lati Blue and a baby gang of Lati Yellows, and they're each stunning and so different. :D I highly recommend Lati.

    47. From what I've seen, Latidolls are gorgeous. But they seem hard to get 8D

      Btw, has anyone else had problems signing up for latidoll? I saw a nice outfit I wanted to buy from them and the complete sign up link is broken. ;__;

    48. @Charsier try signing up with Internet Explorer. It does not work with Firefox (at least it did not in my case)

Latidoll is wonderful. The face-ups are the best and I do realize there is quite a bit of talk about the waiting periods, but I really don't care. I just want super nice dolls and Lati delivers just that. I can't say enough good things about them. I have got three Lati Yellows at the moment and I can't wait to get more! :)

    49. I just got my Blue Line Rei Christopher in the mail the other day... He's an absolutely gorgeous doll, and his outfit was very well made.

How do you find their resin? (compared to say Volks, and Cerberus Project?)
Well... The Aug 2008 resin is wonderful. Not shiny, rather heavy, and has a nice, toothy texture to it. I still like Volks's a liiittle better, but not by much. Much better than the recently made CP dolls, that's for sure. (Compared at meets.)

Was it easy for you to order from them?
Oh yes, very easy. They accept many forms of payment - wire transfer, paypal and direct credit card (and I think something else?). Their communication is excellent - they respond to all their QnA questions every day. And I received an e-mail confirming that my order was received, and another when they shipped him.

Did you find shipping times acceptable?
From my placing the order on their website to my Rei being delivered on my door step, the whole experience was 5 days short of being two months. But I believe that for high-quality, made-to-order items, two months is an acceptable time period. Especially considering it was the rainy season in Korea

      How do you pay?
I ordered through Paypal because I found their CC form a bit confusing. They confirmed my payment a few days afterwards.

Overall, my experience with Lati was fantastic, and I will certainly be happy to do more business with them in the future. :)

    50. I don't have any blue line yet, but one day I will.

Just love the quality. But I mostly order the special edition dolls.

    51. The things I don't like about Lati's dolls are the magnets and the system they use for attaching hands and foots....
      I prefer hooks !!!
