This is a suplication to those who know what they're talking about. I have this doll...and his head is approximately the size of my thumbnail. He has inset eyes, a propper faceup, he's fully ball-jointed - and I can't take any decent pictures of him because my camera SIMPLY WILL NOT FOCUS on something that small. So - help? I'm really not that experienced with photography - is there some trick you can use to get shots of soemthing that tiny? I mean - I've seen pretty detailed photographs of flowers and insects, so obviously it's possible - but maybe that requires special equipment? I have a digital camera - a Canon PowerShot A20. It's 2.1 mega pixels, with a 3x zoom lens...I don't actually know what any of that means, mind you, but... Well - anybody got any hints on taking photos of someone who fits neatly in your hand? His face is really delicate and intricate - and I can't get anything more than a blur  It's driving me insane!! Please help? ~moomintroll~
Taking close up shots of subjects does require special equipment, yes. Or at least special settings depending on your digital camera. Macro is the term for the lenses/camera settings you need to get close up to a subject. If I recall, there's a settings button just below the display. It has a picture of a flower and a mountan. There should be a setting for macro in there. I'm pretty sure your camera has that setting. I've never actually worked with that particular camera before, however, so I can't say for certain. If it's not there, it might be in the menu, also. I hope this helps. ^^
Yay! Found the flower button! (it's not every day you get to say that) I'll see if it helps next time we get any sun - thank you!! (is that a Corpse Bride avatar? *heart*)
Also, try posing him on something *like* a flower (a rose, maybe?), so that the camera will focus on the larger object with him against it . . . does that make sense? And yes, the Macro camera function does make a huge difference!! Good luck, and I want to see pics of this boy -- what type of doll is he? -- Andi
That too is a good idea - thank you! And actually, posing him on a flower is strangely appropriate - he's some kind of Fae - and he's a custom BJD (hence the absurd size ^^). As soon as I get that camera to focus - there will be pictures! (well - focus, and a nice sunny day for once  ) ~moomintroll~
oh good! I just had my first disastrous photo session with abjd jewelry! I did try the flower camera setting, but not the mountain. so hopefully that will be better. I'm so glad this forum has answers for EVERYTHING ^-^.
