OT/General How do you built your ankle and wrist joints?

Jan 12, 2012

    1. Hi there!

It looks that tere are two basic methods to fix the S-hook to hands and feet:
      1- Crosspiece in wire
      2- Cosspiece in resin

      And here are the questions:

How do you prepare your hand/feets for casting to have these crosspieces?
1- Crosspiece in wire: I think that you just need to hollow a central canal inside the wrist. After casting your piece in resin, you can drill it to intoduce the wire (and probably a drop of glue)
2- Cosspiece in resin: I really don't know how to make it in the master to have the proper shape in the silicone molds. Could you help me with this issue?

    2. One way would be to fill in the hole with clay before you cast, then go back and drill out the hole afterwards.

    3. I would also like to know how to do this.

I've had a few ideas on how to go about doing it, if anyone has thoughts on these ideas please share:

So the master would have the joint in place, and you would cast the mold in such a way that you would already have the resin joint intact on the cast.

I have yet to test this, as I'm still in the finishing stages of my sculpt, so I would like to hear everyone's opinions. :)

    4. To do this, you would fill the hole below the bar with a little bit of clay so that the master doesn't get locked in the mold after the silicone cures, then as others have said, you drill or cut the clay/resin below the bar after casting.
