How did you come up with your photostory?

Jul 4, 2011

    1. I din't know where to put this and I didn't see any post like it but feel free to move or delete.

Anyway, I did my first photostory a few days ago and it's harder than I thought it would be :doh
Has anyone attempted to do one but failed? Or succeeded?
How did you think of your photostory?
Did it have dialogue? How did you think of what your doll(s) would say?
Was it easy or difficult? Complicated or simple?
Post your fails or success stories here! :D

    2. Has anyone attempted to do one but failed? Or succeeded?
I haven't attempted a photostory purposely yet. For me, it just happens, unplanned. So in that case, it succeeded.

How did you think of your photostory?
Since they are not planned, that I'm fine with it being kind of crude-ish.

Did it have dialogue? How did you think of what your doll(s) would say?
Yes, always! The script has been pretty easy to "write" so far, since it's just a play on the personalities of my dolls. I also like to interact with them in my stories as well.

Was it easy or difficult? Complicated or simple?
The stories so far has been very simple, impromptu, with just a few pictures. Once I get all the tools and materials ready for a planned story, I expect it to be a very complicated process.

Post your fails or success stories here!
      Here's a quick one: http://amazingminiatures.com/blog/dakota-meets-petunia-tiny-bjd/

    3. Thank you! Dakota just seems like the type... but you can't stay mad at him!

    4. Indeed! :3
If he ripped my hair out my skull I would just snuggle him after I rolled around in pain! XD

    5. My first photostory was completely random. I had no clue how to go about doing one at all. I've only done three stories, but my advice would be to start out doing something where your doll doesn't have a dialogue. I hadn't really found my doll's character yet, so I decided to do something where she wasn't supposed to act in a certain way.

My first ever photostory was a how-to. She was demonstrating how to wrap a gift. There was no talking, just her demonstrating - step-by-step - how to wrap a box for Christmas. It allowed me to do the same thing as a photostory, in that I had panels depicting specific actions in a sequence - but at the same time, I didn't have to try to force anything that might've seemed totally out-of-character later on.

    6. Well, as long as your dolls have some sort of personality, you can start by just imagining how they would interact, and take it from there, :) That's how I do mos of my photostories, or would if I had another doll, XD;;

Also, try and make your doll express itself, through posing and angles. Show, don't tell. Unless your doll i speaking, that's actualy rather helpfull to write down.
