Here's my modded WITHdoll Mia in their spell house! I found this lantern/terrarium thing at Michaels and have been painting the heck out of it. It's still a work in progress.

    3. Very unique and creative! Love the use of a lantern/terrarium. Love the little bottles and stuff.

    4. Redrosette your lantern is very unique, and so is the occupant. Love the mod, wow, amazing. I love using lanterns for mini settings. You've inspired me to paint mine -a project I've been putting off.

    5. @lookame I love your house design it is so unique.

    6. @CBeck1 thanks! Progress is a tad slow but it's coming along nicely. Ive begun sculping the brim of the hat and have a swing and fireplace on the way. It's been quite a project but I think when it's done it'll look pretty nice. Plus I love that my tiny fairy troop will have a cute place to live :)

    7. Thanks guys! I love lanterns - I can toss all the props in a bag and lock them up in the house so they don't get lost between photoshoots/nothing gets dusty.

    8. So I have done a few different types of dollhouses in the past.. That's how I first started in the bjd hobby. Well I do not own any of them now and I am looking around at tutorials and what not and trying to come up with a 1:8 scale type of dollhouse. I have a dollzone bbdoll Hal incoming and an off topic art doll that is a troll who is 6.5 inches tall so I have to make this house from scratch. I like the idea of a house in the woods sort of like a fairytale type house. I am not sure if I am going to have it be modern with a kitchen or American colonial type... I have so many ideas but very few translate well to dollhouse form. I like the very step peaks of houses that look a bit wonky and rounded windows and doors.. anyway do you all worry about staircases? I seem to be stuck on how to incorporate a way for the characters to go from the first floor to the second... Does it matter to you all if its "usable" for your dolls? (Some part of me wants the magic of when I am not there the dolls could move about if wanting to).

    9. I love looking at everyone's room ideas for their ideas! I'm not as creative but I am currently renovating a 3 storey 1:12 scale dollhouse into a rustic/shabby cottage for my 14cm Nabiyette elf doll named Lilac. It's been a long work in progress! The first dollshouse I found for Lilac was poorly made and sorta fell apart when I tried to make modifications, so it ended up in the trash.

When I first acquired this dollhouse it was painted a garish pink colour and had awful glued on additions inside such as fireplaces and sinks. I first had to remove all these bits then paint. I painted the entire dollhouse a pale stone grey colour. I then printed onto heavy card images for rustic aged wooden planks for the walls and stone bricks for the floors.

I have been sourcing 1:12 rustic/shabby furniture and display items befitting a refined young lady elf's taste. Lilac's cottage has no electricity so all her lighting are LED candles and lanterns powered by battery. I still have a lot to do to make it a home, more furniture and things on walls and window boxes etc. At least Lilac can live in it now it's at "lock up" stage so she isn't in her travel case anymore.

Here is a little sneak peek at her cottage. The third pic is of Lilac and her pet magpie ;)

    10. I like the idea that the staircases in a dolls house are just out of sight, just around the corner..that they are there but we just can't see them. I removed the staircases in Lilac's Cottage as they took up too much room and they didn't go anywhere...ie: there was no opening leading from each staircase to the next level anyways.

Ooops! I've just read in the rules that it is only permitted to post one photo per post. I haven't been in here in a whiles and a LOT has changed! I will read up more before I post!

    11. I love your dollhouse! Very well done and modern. I agree with the stairs out of view thing.. I just can't seem to either create or find a dollhouse that is what I need. I really like how you have decorated your girls home :)

    12. I love it can't wait to see more of the renovations also love the magpie great idea

    13. Here's another progress shot of the crews home. The top part of the witch hat can be sculpted on the brim soon. I'm not sure if I'll do a mosaic floor on the third (top) floor or just leave it as is. There's a tiny clothes wash area with chair in front and a little leaf swing. The outside looks better than the inside (there's roots sculpted all around the trunk and folds in the hat and such)

Im torn on painting the window all one color (like shimmery blue or gold) or all different colors or if I should stain them. I also need to paint the areas I accidently stained with grout white again.

Overall I'm not really sure what to think of it or if I even really like it or not...

    16. Wow the room is fab, she is amazing and the cute little dragon wants to go for a walk. Now that's adorable.

    17. @Redrosette I think your Danyet is beautiful, her markings/tattoos remind me of australian aboriginal art works. I want to see more of her spell house!

    18. @Redrosette Wow! Danyet's spell house is amazing. The tiny bottles and details are great. I can't wait to see more of it.

    19. Thanks for all the kind works @glory78 , @Magpie Dreaming , and @madera ! I've had a lot of fun putting together her spell house and will snap some more pictures soon. I can take some from further back to show the whole thing if you like?

    20. A little more progress on my house. The lower level got a cooking fireplace and the second level got some wood stairs. The leaf swing broke so it's white for now

    21. @lookame , Wow! it's coming along so nicely! I love the details you're adding.

    22. Yes! Id love to see a photo from a different perspective!

@lookame ..what a great creation! I had to go scrolling back to look for more..I love the mosaic floor and the leaf swing too...I can't wait to see more. What tiny/ies will this be home for?

    23. @magpiedreaming I'm sorry it's taken so long for me to answer, I was going to take a picture of the crew in their house but I'm just to busy right now. I have 2 realpuki's, a Lati white haru and a dreamhigh studio qbaby which they'll all be "living" in the is house. The very top floor is a little short so Im going to make that a little book nook, second floor will be the bedroom and the very bottom floor will be the kitchen type area. It's taking a long time to finish...

    24. Hey if you don't mind me asking is that made from paper clay? Got my own tiny that I am wanting to make a house for when she gets home and I really like how that was done!

    25. Totally understand! Life always gets in the way of dollie house making..an artwork in progress is worth waiting for, I'll look forward to seeing more as you get to it..we wait so long for our tinies to come to us we've learnt to be patient

    26. The lower level (the trunk) is made from a paper mache hat box with celluclay (fastmache also works)on the inside and a mix of ladoll clay and another paperclay for the roots/trunk. The hat (second and third levels) are a mesh wire base that you can find in the clay area of michaels or jo anns. Then built up with celluclay and the outside is covered with a layer of paperclay to make the outside smooth. The windows were purchased at hobby lobby, the window openings have to be cut before any clay is laid or else you run into issues.

    27. I will def be writing notes for this :D the doll I am looking at making a home for is about 7 inches so I think making a tree trunk house should be doable for her :XD: I been reading all the threads for this and I have gotten so many ideas that I think my wallet is on strike :doh

    28. Project is really slow going, first attempt at spray painting did not go well as the paint peeled off with the masking tape, wasting hours of work. I have since learned the importance of primer. -_-

Anyways, managed to finish painting one piece of the house, it's missing the golden accents, but I'm leaving that until I'm done spraying the rest of the house. The colour is a touch dark, but I'm still really pleased with how it turned out, it's not easy getting the right shade in a can.

    29. Well, my little girl came in and I spent the day working on a three story 'house'. The first part of wall decorationing was done on top x_x

Yes that is ALL stamps... hand glued... *Dies* I got level 1 and 2 to put walls on next plus it needs a roof..

    30. This is going to fabulous when you get it finished!! I have a little Nabiyette who is going to be a flower fairy and live in some sort of flower house...I hope lol I love the sound of what you've done already and will look forward to seeing finished photos.

      This is amazing!!

    31. love the colors you chose @Humbug and you painting looks so nice and crisp!

what a cute way to decorate @Miss Heny. makes me wish i hadn't got rid of my pile of stamps when i realized my son was never going to be into stamp collecting.

    32. Thank you! Masking is really tedious work, but I love the results. :)

    33. Thanks auntbear! I recommend having a lot of time on your hand to do it XD I got a project thread I need to link here, but gotta take a "whole" shot of all the pieces together.

    34. My mom bought me a new dollhouse. I don't have decent pics yet but I'm excited. We got it at the thrift store for FOUR DOLLARS and it's AWESOME.

    35. So I have just bought a Victorian Alison Jr dollhouse from Hobby Lobby. I am going to use it for my Dollzone Mini Hal BBDoll. (she will be tall in it) But I am excited to get working on it.. I just spent over an hour counting and checking off all the parts... All are accounted for. lol

    36. Looking forward to seeing your dollhouse...

I am now buying items for a room box that I am doing, once I have everything I will begin working on it....
Boy does it add up fast....

    37. bumping this up so i can find it more easily ;) i got a cool wire shelf on sale that has a tin roof with a dormer style front. i 'm just collecting the stuff i need to turn it into a dollhouse.

    38. My Realpuki Pippin found a wonderful little cottage deep in the woods. He thinks it will be the perfect place to live, and there is room for all his friends! More pictures in my Flickr.

    39. what a great style. is that a calico cottage?

    40. It's a vintage Sylvanian Families Families Meadowcroft Cottage

    41. Miss Heny I love the stamp wallpaper!
I'm feeling inspired to finish the small cottage I've been making for my Real Puki. I haven't decided how I'm going to finish the walls yet.

    42. Lookame: Thanks for explaining what materials you used to make your fairy cottage! I love :aheartbea the glass mosaic floors, but I wondered what material could be strong enough to support the weight while remaining so thin.
Now I know (…and knowing is half the battle)!:thumbup

Miss Heny: I also love your stamp wallpaper! I remember, in the Mary Norton book series The Borrowers, Arrietty Clock's family used stamps on the wall for art, like a "Bean" (human) might hang a portrait. I have been thinking of using Japanese candy & gum wrappers as colorful posters in a teenager's room, but your idea totally blows mine away.
What dedication – so much licking! :abow:

      sweetiemom:
YES! Sylvanian and Calico and their imitators are the perfect scale for PukiPukis, RealPukis, Lati's, etc. I think they're 1:16 or 1:18 scale, while most dollhouses are 1:12 and Barbie/Momoko is 1:6. I have a Sylvanian travel home (literally with a handle in the roof) that I use to take my tinies to meets. It has two pull-out drawers to store furniture during travel, but they also work for transporting a tiny (wrapped in a hanky) safely.

    43. My current project, I fell in love with dollhouse vardos and immediately wanted to build one of my own. Here's a pic of the completed exterior, the interior is not done yet.

    44. That is awesome. Did you use a kit or is that from imagination and talent?

    45. The latter, I built it from scratch. XD

    46. How about living in a lighthouse? This one even has a working light that projects patterns on the ceiling in a dark room. There's plenty of room inside for the wee ones to live-

    47. [IMG]My dollzone bbdoll hal and her house in the making. Here is my Dollzone bbdoll Hal in her house. Its still in the construction process.

      https://c1.staticflickr.com/3/2871/32926795070_97ec900f76_c.jpg

My dollzone bbdoll hal and her house in the making. It is a RealGoodToys dollhouse called the Alison Jr. Dollhouse Kit.. It is made for 1/12 scale. I have widened the doorways and made them a bit taller and raised a couple of the windows to make her seem more in scale. A 1/12 scale house will work but she would just fit through the doors and that would have bothered me. This means that I won't be able to use the doors that came with the kit and I will have to make my own to fit but there are websites and even youtube channels that help you through that process. I love everyones doll houses.

    48. I like the enlarged windows and door.

    49. Thank you. The first floor windows and second story windows are all moved up almost 3/4 of an inch. It just makes her not look like she is 6 foot tall ;)

    50. Humbug, that is awesome! And Reslie, I love how you're making your dollhouse work for your doll's size. So many creative people in this thread. :)

    51. I'm working on a 3 story for my 1/12 scale dolls. I have 6 to 7 rooms. I'm thinking of making it into some type of boarding house. I bought it second hand. It was a little girl's house.

    52. I LOVE this thread! So much creativity! I adore dollhousing and miniatures. I think I'd be into it even if I didn't have BJDs. Having these cute dolls just makes it so much more fun.
This is one of my current dollhousing projects- I am making a front room/livingroom and kitchen of a small Oahu Hawaii beach house, for my Pukifee Multihead, Jules Kimura. He's one of my only dolls who isn't a fantasy character, he's just an ordinary guy living on the North Shore, so I want to make his house as realistic as possible. (He hopes I'll get him a dog, too)
Edit: forgot to say what I am doing! It's extra thick foamcore board, which I find easier to handle than wood, and then I've used scrapbook paper for the walls and faux tile. A nice upholstery velvety stuff makes a perfectly in scale carpet for the living room section, and I am adapting some really cool ReMent for furnishings! I want to also make a bedroom and bathroom later. Jules is Japanese American and loves the aesthetic of that part of his heritage. It reminds him of visiting his grandparents in their old house, his love for his family, and his happy childhood, so a lot of his house is going to be decorated with Japanese style elements.

    54. Rosslyn I love your Hawaii house so far!

    55. They are SO irresistible! I especially love how ReMent and similar things fit the tinier dolls so well, but I also really enjoy making my own teeny props.

Thank you! The "tile" scrapbook paper made me so happy, it was a real find. Now I've actually got his kitchen furnishings and I need to take more pics.

    56. What a cute home!! Great finds!!! Love it!

    57. Thank you!
I got a pic of the kitchen furnishings today.

All I need now is to find or make a good refrigerator. I got these online and they started out with red tops so I've painted them white but it took a LOT of coats of paint.

    58. Hey Rosslyn, I recently watched this tutorial for making a fridge:
I think 1 Inch Minis has one, too.
