Hi! I recently moved to NL too and would like to meet local people, can I join the WhatsApp group?

 

@JJ3_dolls I moved from the US last year and I currently live in Eindhoven area. I only brought 2 dolls with me and have not had much time to play with them since the move, so I am hoping to join a local meetup if there is one or meet new people in the hobby to have some dedicated dolly time

This thread has been quiet... Would anyone be interested in meeting up? Any ideas for indoor places for doll meetup in current cold weather?
Or maybe there is a secret meetup organized somewhere?

 

Did you manage to join the whatsapp and discord? Best ask there. I'm not sure many people are actually on DoA.
We met up at restaurants before so that's definitely possible.

 

@Qianna I joined both but while I can read some Dutch I am nowhere proficiend enough to organize a meetup in Dutch
I am also not sure where do people typically meet in NL? I saw that people were organizing meetups at conventions, but that is always tied to a convention date and location. If people meet at a restaurant where do they put the dolls? Are there any doll-friendly public spaces or is this not really an option? Just want to hear people's opinion or any previous experiences.

 

If you want to post in English feel free. Most people can speak it. You can always translate stuff people say using deepl or Google translate. They're both pretty good with Dutch.

There's meets organised at conventions or events, but i remember that we often went to meet at restaurants. We went to one at Strijp S in Eindhoven once because it had big tables. Also to a Bagles and Beans in Utrecht, and once at the HEMA in Utrecht but that had tiny tables. You get looks with dolls. Frankly we never asked, and as long as you order enough to justify sitting there for longer, they don't care what you do.

I organised a picnic meet near my house after covid. XD but it was in the middle of summer. Some people also organise craft meets at their house. For these meetings there are no specific rules. XD everyone is an adult afaik. So hopefully responsible people.

Hi, I'm from the Netherlands too! I plan on going to a few conventions this year (Comic Con Holland if I can still get tickets, Dutch Comic Con and maybe Abunai) and I want to bring a doll with me for at least one day of each con! I'll probably bring Arthur (the guy in my avatar :') )
I also reaaaaally rarely try to set up small little random meetups, sometimes only for like 4-5 people, and there is the Poppen & Berenbeurs in september!

 

Comic Con Holland is soon! @Bloom of Aphrodite would you go for both days?

I may come for one day, don't know which one yet, would be nice to meetup if anyone else is planning to go.

When my husband and I go from UK to Europe, we take ferry to Hoek van Holland. Several times a year. Next trip will be week 28-29 (early-mid July) and then beginning of September. Anybody around there and willing to meet?
