    4. I did a Cardinal Richelieu outfit. Was he an actual person? If he wasn't I think he was based on a real person. Anyway, obviously my doll is WAY too pretty and young to be a real cardinal, but the outfit is dead-on accurate to a cardinal in that time period in France.

    5. Well, if you don't mind historical dolls designed by companies themselves, I do love my historical boys. I don't always dress them up in their defaults, but what did attract me to Volks's Banquet series was the historical characters themselves:

I got my Amakusa first because I was living right across from the island named after him at the time of his release and I just couldn't pass him up. I'd also been a fan of Okita as well so when he was released it all just went from there. I think Volks did a wonderful job on these boys and they really do have the spirit of the people they were modeled after.

    6. It's so much fun to make historical dolls, there's always so much to learn.

Majesty, I love your princess elizabeth doll. She's so cute:)

The cardinal outfit looks gorgeous. Richelieu is the guy from the three musketeers, right?

As for historical figures, do artists count? I based one of my dolls off a dancer named Vaslav Nijinsky.
The original picture is from 1910 i think.

Not an exact replica obviously. I can't believe they could make those costumes without spandex in those days,
if I try that it rips all over the place. :doh

    7. I saw this and couldn't resist..... I have no pic yet as my camera is out of commission, but I had to throw in my two cents XD Tutankhamun's wife was Ankhesenamun, who was also his half-sister. I'm an Egyptophile.... And I also got to see the Tut Exhibit when it came to Canada. It was amazing! I have an Egyptian doll (A Soom Euclase) and I will post pics of him in his Egyptian Godliness soon! I also have a barbie and ken that my grandmother made into egyptians for me when I was a child one year when I had an egyptian themed birthday party. (Yes, I was that weird.)

    11. More like costuming than an actual character doll, but my Don and Adarhysenthe's Khorae spend every Halloween as Henry VIII and Anne.
