Hello, I’m Dr. Teddy, I’m a college student from the USA. I’m not new to the world of BJDs, (I’ve been fawning over them since 2018) I didn’t have the disposable income to make my BJD dreams come true, till now. Also ending now, because I’m going back to college. Currently I’m trying to 3D model some medieval knights armor for my Ananta. I’m also working on a kimono for my Pang Tong. I don’t have most of the dolls I’ve bought yet, but I did sketch my plans out. Do you plan out your dolls in advance like me? Make mood boards for them? Anyways, I’m looking forward to meeting and learning new things from y’all.
Hello from one Teddy to another! I don't. I don't liekthe frustration of getting a doll I have planned for, only to find they won't cooperate with any of those plans (the super-slick fashionista, secret-agent I had envisioned, for example, declared herself to be a laid-back hippy dreamer right from the moment I opened the box), so I opt for the getting a doll I like the look of, and "getting to know them" gradually once I have them. I'll look forward to seeing how your armour for Anata comes out. Teddy in Wimbledon
Hello and welcome to DoA! It's fun to plan and dream about what your future dollies will wear and their characters and everything. So keeping dreaming and planning while you go through college. The distractions are most needed at times! But like the above Teddy said, sometimes once the doll arrives, you realize that they are someone totally different than what you had planned. I thought all my dollies would fit into my Victorian era story and I had plotted accordingly. But as I started to acquire more and dress them, certain dolls just weren't the type and just ended up being more appropriately dress in maybe historical Japanese outfits or fantasy/sci-fi outfits or just plain contemporary teenager outfits (gasps). Although...seeing the armor for your Anata is something to look forward to! Please share photos of that project when you have time. And welcome once again!
Hello! Nice to meet you! Yes, in most cases. But sometimes dolls come to me unexpectedly and then I have some trouble making up background stories for them. I do make mood boards. I think it's fun.
