Hi

Feb 12, 2009

    1. Hi,
I'm Claudine Roelens and a while ago I started my second ball jointed doll, using premix as my clay of choice. Due to several personal circumstances, the pieces of that doll have been laying around for some time, but yesterday I picked up where I left off. So I hope to show you some pictures of my progress really soon.

    2. hey Claudine - so glad you are here too! and glad that you are going back to work on the 2nd one - it will be wonderful, of course!

    3. THanks Patl, I'll do my best to make her look nice, grinn... Anyway, I'm now sculpting in premix, which I like very much. However, it would be so nice to cast a doll in the end. The thing is , I'm severly allergic to resin, I've tried it twice and even using the stuff outdoors, wearing protective clothing and a full face mask, didn't seem to help at all. So I'm now considering making a cast in plaster of Paris and casting in porcelain. I have a kiln, I have made my own porcelain dolls (by which I mean, sculpting, casting, firing etc...) So that should work. The only donwnside is, that porcelain shrinks by about 18% and it tends to warp a bit from time to time. Which would of course be a very bad thing conserning the joints !!! So I'm still pondering what to do ...????
