Hi, nice to meet you

Dec 19, 2024

    1. Hi, I'm new here. I tried to introduce myself, but the post just disappeared, so I'll try again. My name is Lena. I am from Lithuania but currently live in Poland. I am not new to this hobby, but for some reason, I did not join this forum before one of my friends told me about it.
I'd be happy to meet you and hear more about where you guys are from and how you started collecting. I am probably interested in dolls because I like to create room designs, and also clothes, and making it on the doll is easier than on people, so I tried and can't stop anymore. :D

    2. Welcome!!!

      I'm a lifelong doll-fan from the UK.

I collect any doll that appeals to me, not just BJDs, but have always tended toward the more articulated dolls (in the 70's as a child I preferred Action Girl over Barbie or Sindy, becuase she had articulated wrists, ankels, knees, and elbows while Barbie and Sindy mostly only had joints at the shoulder and hip). When BJDs came along they just got added to the house full of other types of doll, ading a new branch to the already thriving family-tree of dolls in my collection.

    3. Welcome Lena!:blush
I’m a collector in Idaho USA. While I was looking for art inspiration online back in 2004 (I’m old XD), I stumbled upon these beautifully painted Volks School A and I have been loving BJDs since. I’ve changed up my collection quite a few times but now I have a small collection as I want to focus on enjoying the dolls I have and maybe go into sewing. I have 6 with 4 wip. I’d like to eventually add 1 more doll because I don’t have a tall girl yet. What kinds of dolls or size dolls are you interested in?
And very cool- my stepdad is Lithuanian  But he grew up in Chicago Illinois- he has a very Chicagoan accent but his parents have Lithuanian accents and speak Lithuanian :XD:

    4. I start with Barbie too. ))) I like curvy joga because you can pose them very realistically. I am also not a fan of skinny girls, except for some BJD, like Popovy - they look like have not enough food, but that is probably a style question, they all look like not as human but as some mystic creature. :D

    5. Well, I have Minifee and Realpuki. And some of Barbies as well. I am interested in Volks, my friends just talk about them every time, so at least I can't hear it anymore, I must have at least one of them :D I also want to see an SD doll, not sure, they look quite big, but maybe I will get used to it. My friend just made a mannequin that size with a 3d print, so I waiting to hold it in my hands, and then probably will decide or its suit for me. )

    6. I've always liked bigger dolls (or VERY small ones) Barbie size was OK but not the size range I preffered as a child, so my first BJD was an SD sized CP Luts Delf Chiwoo. Then I got a girl of similar siae (Elfdoll Soah) and a Yo-SD sized Petite Ai from Custom House... But while I've got a whole range of sizes from 9 or 10cm right up to 80cm now, the majority of my BJDs are SD sized.

    7. @Lenasminiland fairlyands are so wonderful and so versatile :XD: And yes, Volks are too! I’ve never had one… maybe one day:blush I started with SD sizes because I was afraid minis were too small for me. I ended up with 3 of them- they are such a fun size :D I like SDs, but I think I like minis slightly more now.

@Teddy ahhh I like your collection :XD: I Iove your display too, they look so good together <3

    8. Thanks. This is an old photo of the cabinet where the main SD family live (with MSD and smaller sizes on the bottom shelf), the rest of them are scatered (wherever they will fit ) around the living room and the rest of the house. I now officially have more of them than I have display space for and this cabinet is full to burting point.

Be warned - this hobby can be very addictive.
