Hi from Berlin

Jul 29, 2025

    1. Hi everyone.
I'm happy to join the BJD community.
Many years ago I had IH JID and MiniFee dolls in my collection. Since then I have fallen in love with the aesthetics of IH dolls. Now I'm going to get back to the hobby and hope to order a FID girl soon.

    2. Welcome back to the hobby! A FID girl is a good plan. IH engineering has improved a lot since the old days too. Do your older dolls still exist? Hope you'll have fun looking around and exploring the place! Bis bald!

    3. To be honest I 'd like to have EID and FID. FID is a familiar doll size for me. EID is smth new for me - I've never seen this in real live.
Unfortunately I already don't have older dolls because had a pause in doll hobby.

    4. Welcome back!! Hope you order that new doll soon! I also want to come back but I'm still thinking about it :D

    5. Well, if 40-45 cm is your usual jam, then EID is really a huge step up. Is there a chance you can see or even handle a 70cm doll in real life, like on a dollmeet? Just to give you an idea if it's for you? Unfortunately I don't know anything about BJD life in Berlin.
I do have some mini bjd which I love, but I'm really into the big guys and girls, so I understand the allure! :love They're also easier to sew for, you can pull off stuff that's a bit closer to real people clothes.Whereas with smaller fashion dolls, you often have to use more tricks and workarounds to make it look more lifelike. If sewing is what you enjoy? Another thing is, EID are really heavy, compared to mini size, so if you plan to handle them a lot, that's good to know about beforehand.

    6. Thank you very much for the detailed answer!
I really like sewing and was considering large dolls just for this. I thought that it would be more convenient to sew and create accessories on them. FID format is also good for this, but I really want to try the large one.
I think that I will first order the FID girl and later EID.
Unfortunately it seems there is no BJD life in Berlin. But whis won't stop me from buying big girl (only finance )

    7. Thank you! I'm currently going through a difficult stage of choosing makeup for girl

    8. That's a pity. I'm really out of touch with the German BJD scene, so I have no idea what's up there. Did you also check facebook groups? It may seem a bit out of date, but local groups still used to be on there. On insta I don't know, I think it's hard to find specific things in there. Maybe a discord server? Unfortunately I'm a bit too far away to help you out there  Yeah, finances - just hang in there, you can do it, even if it takes a while!

    9. Welcome!

Since you like to sew, I think you'll really like having both sizes, the FID and EID :) EIDs are very big, but with a doll stand they should be pleasant to sew for

    10. Thank you! Yes, I think that EID is really good for detailed outfits.

    12. There’s someone on here that makes amazingly detailed outfits with FIDs, but it should be easier on EIDs :)

The first time I saw a female EID in person, it was definitely a big doll but not overwhelmingly so — and I mostly collect MSDs.
