Hi everyone!

Nov 22, 2024

    1. Hello,
I have been lurking on here for some time now, thought I should introduce myself finally. I am a fairly new in the doll hobby, although I have had some awareness and interest in dolls for many years. So far, I have a DD and an SDGr, which I enjoy sewing clothes for when I have time. In addition to sewing, I like doing calligraphy and knitting. I would love to connect with people who make doll clothes, shoes, or props!

    2. Welcome. I think if you went to the section for discussing sewing projects you would find similar minded people. I for one keep trying to sew for my dolls esp the super big guys, but patterns out there seem to be not very helpful, so have to create my own. I also find props by looking at items out in the world that would suit my dolls. American Girl, Our Generation doll items can suit the 1/3 to MSD dolls very well. Just be careful of how to spend those precious dollars as they can fool the eye as well. If you can take a doll hand with you and put it up to items in the see through packaging. If it loom the right size it will work. if it looks to big or to small, pass. The stuff at Target is cheaper then the AG stuff, but if you check at garage sales, you can find stuff that can work. Also it never hurts to try and learn how to use air drying clay, a glue gun, cardboard and you can make anything from food props to furniture. Have fun in the hobby and watch those pennies, this hobby can be affordable if you look for the deals.

    3. I do enjoy designing and making my own sewing patterns, since I also sew for human scale (for myself, basically). Thanks for the tip about the doll hands, I will definitely keep that in mind when hunting for props!
