Hi all!

Mar 26, 2026

    1. New Let's see, first I'll talk about how I came to be interested in ball jointed dolls, and joined Den of Angels.

I had and played with the typical mainstream dolls as a child, fashion dolls, baby dolls, ponies, etc. But, I first came across bjds in middle school, when I saw people's pictures of their dolls on deviantart. I thought that they looked cool, but didn't give much more thought beyond that. That is, until high school, where I discovered fashion doll customization, and I was in love with this idea of "making" a doll. But, at this point I didn't know what a ball jointed doll was or where I would even try to get one. But, I did know that I deeply wanted a doll that I could make clothes for, and play dress up with. So, I made do with a rag doll that I made, knowing that I wanted something more.

Everything changed about two years ago, when I started watching videos about the history and evolution of different fashion doll lines, and I came across a video about ball jointed dolls. And everytime that I had seen ball jointed dolls before clicked into place, and I had realized that this was the kind of doll that I had been wanting all along.

About a year ago I started looking at different dolls and companies, trying to see what was available, and what I liked. But, because I was in a bad place mentally, and didn't see much of a future I stopped looking.
Luckily, the last few months I've been feeling much better, and decided that it was time to start looking at dolls again.

During this time researching dolls I came across Den of Angels and decided to join. After joining I spent all my free time looking at the forums that unapproved accounts can look at. From that I've learned a lot about everyone's opinions about and relationships with dolls. And I decided that it was finally time to make the plunge and buy a doll.

I just placed an order for a doll, and am looking forward to talking with everyone here, and learning more about everyone and their dolls.

      Thank you!
From the moment that I started looking at bjds, I knew that I wanted a big doll, since one of the main reasons that I want one is to make clothes and dress him up.
I'll be sure to post photos when he arrives in a few months!

    6. New Welcome and congrats on your first doll!
75cm is huge! If you've never seen BJDs IRL before, you're going to be in awe when he arrives  photos don't give an idea of the presence and size.

This is a great time to pick a large boy because it's a scale well serviced by clothesmakers, and if you're making your own clothes it's going to be much easier to do so.

      Thank you.
I haven't seen any bjds in person yet, so I am looking forward to seeing just how big he is. Like you said, I've seen pictures, and I pulled out a measuring tape, to get a rough estimate of just how big he is, and all I can think is, he's taller than my one year old niece. :ablink:
