Heya!

Aug 26, 2024

    1. Hello!
I'm Amelia, I'm from Vancouver, BC, Canada! I am one of many talents, but I can say I'm an author and I also repair computers for a day job

I've had a long standing fascination with BJDs, but as a teen I could never afford any - now that I'm almost 40 I have finally saved up for my own. I'm mostly interested in bringing original characters from my writing to life, but I also enjoy sewing ... So I guess the dining room table will be covered with fabric for a few months while I try designing some patterns for my dolls.

I'm also interested in dabbling in 3D design and maybe printing my own dolls.

Looking forward to learning more and exploring the forums!

    2. Welcome! That is so cool! Do you have plans on what dolls you'll be getting for your original characters?

    3. I'm still exploring options for what's out there. A friend is sending me a couple of I painted 1/4 bodies and heads, but I don't know how legit they are
Back when I first got interested in dolls there was only Volks, and the selection is much broader than back then so I'm slowly making my way through the different options and making my wish lists
I do know 1/4 is the scale I'm planning on going with. And I've seen some curvier female models, but not so much male models.

    4. Alice's Collections has a lot of variety for dolls, and of course DoA has a big list of companies, but it is definitely a bit daunting lol! Is there a specific body type you're looking for for the 1/4 males?

    5. While several of my characters would work with the typical lean/lightly muscled types I see a lot of... One of them has a "Dad-bod" with more weight around the middle.

    6. That one is definitely a bit hard to find, especially in 1/4 scale :( I've seen people have success with modding though! I'd imagine a 2 piece or 1 piece torso would be easiest to modify that weight on :)

    7. I appreciate the advice! :3nodding: If I do that I'll be sure to share the results!

    8. As someone who also enjoys sewing, adjusting to doing it for little dollies is tricky, but a lot of fun as you get the hang of it! And it's great for experimentation, since having to buy less fabric makes projects cheaper ;^^

    9. Luckily I already have a nice stash

I have been watching lots of tutorials and doodling ideas for my own patterns, but nothing beats actually making the thing... Once I've got some dolls to work with it'll be full steam ahead! :cheer

    10. Aww, for me it's the sewing machine... I need to stuff my old one into my tiny apartment somehow! I'm too impatient to handsew ;^^

    11. If you take over the dining table I won't tell anyone :XD: It's what I do!

    12. Hello, that sounds very cool. I love to see dolls of OCs. Can't wait to see your pics too! Do you think you'll post any of the story the dolls come from here?

    13. I'm a self published indie author, so those stories will be distributed through the Zon and other ebook stores eventually. :)

Edit to add: the stuff I write isn't appropriate for those under 18, so I will not be sharing the currently published work or the work I publish in the future here.
