Hello and welcome! I've been here for quite a few years now, and I am so grateful to have found DOA - I've learned so much and talked with many lovely people (even though I lurk a lot haha). I hope you will have a wonderful experience here as well!

I remember the feeling of having a beloved doll that you could take everywhere It is so much fun! Nowadays I wouldn't take my bjds everywhere (too worried about what might happen to them) but it is still fun to style them, make clothes, etc. at home. I hope you'll be able to find your lost girl soon!

I'm sure other members will chip in with tips, but for myself, I definitely recommend finding threads for the sculpts/subjects you are interested in and going back to older messages and just reading as much as you want to. I think I've read everything here about my favorite artists and sculpts - it was fun and also very informative. You can also learn the basics of safe modding and painting (if you're interested in that), how to protect dolls from sunlight/temperature, etc. The search engine can be a little tricky sometimes, but it is still helpful.

And of course, you can ask questions if you can't find what you're looking for! I've always found someone willing to help

 

Welcome!! I'm sorry you haven't been able to find her but that's cool that you have some on the way! I'm in the same boat of waiting on my family to arrive, and I am so excited!! All to do now is be patient and wait for them to come.^^

 

Oh yes, the site can be a bit overwhelming at first! There is a lot to see!

One thread you might like to follow is supposed to be for "no-buy-buddies" but it is open for everyone. For example, I don't really need support to avoid buying too much (my wish-list is very short, mostly because some of the things I'd love to purchase don't exist!) but conversation there is more consistent than in some other places here, so you might enjoy following along too even if you don't want to set any "no buy" goals for your collection.

Hi!! I’m Jocelyn! I’m in a somewhat similar boat as you- I got into bjds about 8 years ago. I’m 20 now and just recently discovered my love for them again. I still have my original dolls, a Dollzone Leon and Kids Sky Tutu. Im currently waiting on a Supiadoll Esther I just impulsively bought tonight What dolls are you waiting on?

 

Omg!!! I would love to be able to buy that many dolls!!! I love Cheshire cat!! I’ve been looking at Ringdoll’s boys for future dollie plans! I’m still in school right now so I don’t have as much money as I would like to be able to spend on dolls as I definitely wish I could’ve gotten an SD boy with my girl
Do you have outfits/accessories planned out for any of them yet? Are you getting them with faceups or blank?? Super excited for you!!

 

That will be super cute! Have a whole family of dolls I definitely can’t wait to see them all!
But I got my incoming girl with just a face-up! I adore her company face-up with red lips and I think it suits the character I have in mind for her very well! I’m waiting a bit on the clothes until I have more money
I know she’ll take quite a bit of time to manufacture and ship, and I happen to live really close to a well-known dealer that offers local pickup so I can just swing by there and pickup without having to wait for shipping on anything in stock.
I have big plans for her! I’ve been writing a little backstory roughly inspired by some fantasy novels I’ve read. She’s going to be a gothic sort of faerie princess & I’m planning on writing her future lover into my story as well. The whole time I wait for her to come I’m just going to be obsessing over her backstory!

 

I feel super lucky to be so close to somewhere that sells bjds!! Hopefully you can find something somewhat local to you and maybe some fellow doll enthusiasts in Australia!!
