Hey from Pittsburgh!

Hello!

Even though I’ve been on DoA for a little over a year now, I haven’t done a proper introduction. So here it is.

BACKGROUND:
I’m Steviee (yes, like Stevie Nicks, just spelled wrong lol) and have recently decided to return to the hobby. I entered the BJD world around 2012/2013 after a few friends of mine opened up about their own involvement in hobby. And pretty soon, I, too, delved head-long into it.

Fast forward a few months, I scrounged up enough dough to purchase my first doll (a Dreaming Doll Little Elva Airi). After stumbling around and falling flat on my face (buying SD clothing instead of MSD, etc) I packed her up and stuffed her in my closet until I sold her in 2018.

I considered myself done with the hobby at that point, though I continued to follow BJD influencers and artists.

I’ve entertained the idea of coming back to the hobby for awhile now, but didn’t think I’d have a good enough reason to until I found The Doll. In my mind, I needed to discover a sculpt that “spoke” to me. Something that resonated with me and generated a story.

In 2018, I finally found him: Migidoll Vampire Yujin. However, he was an event head and I found never seem to get in time. This past year, Migi announced that the fall of 2019 would be the final time they sell the head. Again, I missed the sale.

I thought it was just fate and that maybe I shouldn’t return to the hobby. Then, I decided to give it once last go and emailed Migi to see if they had any extra heads from the sale.

They did! Two heads were left, one in white and one in light brown. Though I wanted “normal” skin, I opted for white and less than a week later he was on my doorstep!

I am absolutely smitten with the sculpt and am chipping away at his background everyday. I have also commissioned a face-up artist in the States, so he will be sent out shortly!

NOW:
As a full-time student, I do find it difficult to find the time (and money) to invest in the hobby. But as a writer, it allows me to create a character from the ground-up in a more physical and tactile manner. For now, I plan to stay in the hobby and might even see if anyone would me interested in commissioning me to write for them in regards to their characters/OCs. Of course, this would be after I have marketplace access, but that’s besides the point.

Anyway, I apologize for this too long rant that nobody asked for. Yet, here it is.

Yo! You’re too nice! I am actually getting him ready to ship out now. Am I bit anxious, as I am worried that he’ll be lost or damaged in the move, but hey! Gotta do it.
