The Super Sculpey FAQ & Tutorial link is, sadly, dead. It was very interessting. I wonder what happened to it. :O
Wow! I think I finally found the pages that I can build a nest in and make myself comfortable! I love this!
Is there anyone who can revive the Super Sculpy thread or find it in some way (no idea if this is possible) because I was really interested too.
Got another doll sculpting tut: It's in japanese, but I ran it through google for everyone: http://64.233.179.104/translate_c?h...a/Htm/Howto/workroom.htm&prev=/language_tools
I've been trying to find the Super Sculpey FAQ, but it looks like the forum somehow swallowed it up. Maybe someone could start a new one? I believe the original was written by Lithe-Fidler.
http://www.garieinternational.com.sg/clay/shop/twenty.htm - baking polymer clays http://www.jaedworks.com/clayspot/polyclay-faq/mixing.html - various info on polymer clays >.o that's all i've got. someone can google for more information.
For those looking for a good Sculpey FAQ-- there's a great sculptor named Dan Perez who covers not only using sculpy, but also basics of sculpting. I would highly reccommend this link, which branches to several other useful pages: http://www.danperezstudios.com/workshoppages/sculpting.htm (HINT: IT SHOWS YOU HOW TO SMOOTH FINGERLINES OUT OF SCULPEY! OMG! )
I have been reading the posts for sculpting because I want to make my own boy doll. And I have a few questions but I hope it's O.K. to ask them here. I saw one site that showed how to make the complete doll and also the doll eyes but, it was in another language and had no commentary; only a bunch of question marks. I want to make the doll eyes as well. Does anyone know how to make doll eyes or where to find a tutorial in the forum[ hopefully] that will show me how to make my own doll eyes? I would appreciate any and all help.
Another thread with some tutorials links - http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?t=135263 Carolyn
Does anybody know how long a mold for casting lasts? I need to find out so I know how much mold silicon to get Bella
I don't know Specifically how long the molds last, but I do know that the silicone Oomoo molds last for years, for hundreds of castings. You shouldn't need to get much silicone mold material after you've made the initial molds. ^_^
This is not a BJD tutorial but a general doll sculpting tutorial. The principles are the same. It helps to see how an artist builds up the clay around the base and smooths it into a face. Please delete if this is too off topic. http://www.lewisgoldsteinartanddesign.com/DollTutorialFS.htm
sand3 made an extremely helpful thread on jointing. It includes diagrams and photos of various styles of jointing in BJDs. http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?t=121301
I know this has been posted in the distant past, but I've never come across it again, and find it difficult to find when I want it. But this is a great link for getting the head shape perfect! http://www.hanniesarris.nl/page.php?page=sculpting_fairy_head&lang=en
I don't know if anyone's needed anything like this, but I recently have while making my tiny. You can actually find bulk orders for itty bitty teeny tiny rare earth magnets on ebay for really cheap. They're 1/16th across, so they're SUPER tiny, and would be useable for any size doll that was made. I just thought this should be put in the thread in case anyone wanted to know where to get rare earth magnets that would fit in super tiny dolls. http://cgi.ebay.com/Lot-of-500-Tiny...ryZ53142QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
I don't know what was in that SuperSculpey FAQ everyone was talking about earlier in this post, but for all the polymer clay info you ever wanted to know (and then some,) you can't beat www.glassattic.com. And, I don't want to sound too self-serving here, but I post links to dollmaking tutorials on my blog, www.NeedleandClay.com, every Tuesday, and many of them are sculpting tutes. Use the Categories menu on the right to find the Tutorials.
Hi there, I was wondering if anyone could give me the name of the BDB Book. I guess it is a how to. TIA Marianna
I get all my resin and silicone supplies from http://www.barnesonline.com.au/defaultmain.asp which is useful for those of us who live in Australia they have an awesome range of stuff and they are quite helpful. They have a few how to things on their website that might help you out with making molds and such
