Modification Help with Idealian modification

Nov 26, 2023

    1. I don't know if it's possible, but I want to modify my Idealian or SartoriaJ bjd butt area to detach from the doll and add strong magnets to it to stick 9 fox tails on his bottom. The tails would be like one big tail but branch out into 9 tails from the bottom tail. Does that make sense. You know like Idealian face plate, but instead like a butt plate. This sounds super strange now that I'm writing this. I realize my idea to add 9 tails by one magnet taped to the butt won't work, so this is the idea I came up with. Adding 9 individual tails would look weird I think. I wouldn't be able to do this myself I will have to hire someone, but is this idea possible? My idea is to have somehow an articulated jointed tail skeletal inner frame I found a similar idea design on etsy. I was surprised someone had the same tail idea as me. Then I wanted to make removable tail "skin" to go over that skeletal tail frame. Would this be possible? What sort of custom artist would do this. Is there a specific name for this service?

Would it help if I link the etsy page I found that had the similar idea to the skeletal tail frame I had in my head?

Also what is it called when I want to add magnets inserted into the back of Idealian instead of taping it. How would I do this. Would i need to drill holes into his back. I don't want to do this myself and risk doing damage to myself and my doll because I know I would mess it up and endanger my health with the resin dust by not being careful enough compared to someone more knowledgeable on this.

    2. If I'm understanding correctly, you'd like the tails to be detachable, right? You could have the tails made with a magnet base, and then have them attach to your doll with a magnet, instead of needing to create a separate hip piece. It could work if you drilled some into the base of the spine where the tails would attach and set the magnet in with super glue instead of using tape, but you could also just glue a magnet there there without drilling if you don't mind it creating a bit of a bump under clothes when he's not wearing the tails. Posable tails can be made with wire and fabric and some stuffing, so they're pretty lightweight.
If you're comfortable with restringing your doll and you know exactly where you want the additions to sit, you could also glue a magnet to the inside. The resin there is a bit thicker than in a head cap, so you'd need a pretty strong one to make sure it can keep hold of things attached to the outside.
