Modification Help On Matching BJD Body Mods

Jul 23, 2024

    1. I recently bought two modded bjd bodies; a female Telethesia and Dragon 60cm body and a male Dollzone 70cm body. The bodies were heavily modified. I am hoping to color match the mods with acrylic paint. I'd love some advice on color matching with acrylic paint and how to keep the paint from chipping.

EDIT: I don't know why the photos weren't work, so here's the link to tBJD Mods

    2. With color matching, test it on an inconspicuous spot before painting it, go a bit lighter than you think you need and let the test swatch dry. I've heard some people have more success with airbrushing to get an even coat but you can easily get a good coat with a flat brush that is wide and watering the paint down a bit. As for the chipping, I've heard people being successful with using mod podge mixed in with the paint or as a layer on top. Personally, I've been alright with just doing a few layers of sealant (I'm ok with a small bit of chipping though) but as long as you are not dyeing, paint chipping seems to be a bit inevitable.

    3. ^ this, plus:
Personal recommendation - sand the mods first. They look unfinished, and every blemish WILL show through the color you apply on top.
