OT/General Help! Making smooth surface in narrow space

Nov 1, 2015

    1. Hi guys!
I'm working on my doll (again)
and I have come so far that it's time to smoothen up some surfaces, But I'm haveing an really hard time with this and need your help.
My doll has an very, uhm, "rough" face and rough hands, big nose that makes it hard to reach uper lip and such with sand paper.
      (this is him): [IMG]
As you can see there are some areas that is very tricky to reach

I have started to make an surface with gesso and it's leaving brush strokes. When I'm sanding on the gesso it leaved edges between the clay and gesso aswell, this is making me very worried :(
How do you sand and fix in narrow spaces and how do you make it smooth?
I'm planing to order Mr Surface primer and I really hope that it will make the surface smooth, but I don't know what to expect of it. All help in this is very welcome!

    2. Cut and shape the sandpaper to fit the small spaces. go slowly and carefully, don't rush things. :)

    3. For really tiny spaces, I use a thin strip of sand paper wrapped around a tooth pick.
Tight spaces are always hard and boring, just go slowly and let it take it's time.

And I have told you that I think that troll is AWESOME, right?

    4. You're trying to smooth the gesso? You could try dipping the head in liquid gesso instead of brushing it on. Love your troll. :)

    5. I have gotten primer on spray cans instead and it works fine! :)
