Hello!

Nov 26, 2025

    1. I'm Entnoot (or Kellen)!

I'm a collector of other dolls, Monster High mostly, though I do have one of the Cat TV blind box bjds. I have been interested in BJD for many years (since I was a teen) but was a bit scared to take the plunge properly because I knew it was an expensive hobby. I finally recently bought my first body while visiting Tokyo, a secondhand SD13! Another collector was visiting the store (Mandarake Nakano) and helped me out with choosing her, they recommended DoA to me and were super helpful (if you see this thank you so much!!).

My next step is getting a head for the body, I'm going to try to get something secondhand as well. I'm looking forward to the customisation side of things, I've painted a lot of miniatures before but something larger will be a challenge.

I hope to learn more from you all!

    2. Hiya! Glad to have you here! BJDs are pretty expensive, but there are some more afforable options in the $150-250 range like ResinSoul. Alice's Collections carries a fair range, and there's quite a few sales going on right now due to Black Friday in the US!

I hope you find a head you like :)

    3. Hi! Welcome to Den of Angels!

I agree with P0laris, there are a few companies that allow to get into the hobby that will help keep the costs down. I have a few Resinsouls and they are great for beginners! I don't collect SD sizes but there are plenty of places to look for just heads. I would recommend looking through Alice Collections and BJDivas. If you're in the US you can look through Denver Dolls Emporium, though I think they mostly do full dolls.

I wish you the best of luck getting what you're looking for!

    4. Hello Enroot and welcome to DoA. Congrats on your first body. Hopefully the perfect doll head will find its way to you. Are you thinking about painting it yourself or having someone else do the face-up for it?

    5. Sorry for the late reply! I'm not sure yet, I feel that doing the faceup myself would be very fun, but if I find something with a faceup I love then that'd be good too! Currently feeling a bit overwhelmed with trying to find the "perfect" head for the body though...

    6. I understand that struggle. I am trying s few face ups and hybrids myself. Which doll or what sizedoll are you hoping to finish first?
