Hello!

Jul 21, 2025

    1. Hi, I'm Bobble and I'm glad to finally be here! I've been lurking for a while as I get more and more into dolls.

Obviously I had dolls as a child, big fan of Barbie though I don't have my childhood dolls any more :(. As an adult I got really interested in making cloth dolls. I LOVE shaping the human form in fabric because it's such a challenge, and then I love dressing them. I wanted something a little more sturdy to dress so I ended up buying an Ellowyne Wilde and a Gene Marshall. I love them too, and they're a lot easier to dress than Barbie but I still craved something bigger.

I've been fascinated with the mechanics of BJDs for a while, but I prefer more realistic looking heads so none of them really clicked for me until I found Iplehouse and SartoriaJ. I ordered my first BJD from SartoriaJ back in March (64MNT Marie) because the opportunity to get a corset bust and a regular bust without buying two whole dolls was too tempting. I love corsetry and I'm excited to make some tiny stays for her!

I'm starting college for costume design very soon and I'm really looking forward to learning pattern drafting which I can then use to design fabulous historical and fantastical outfits for Marie. I can't wait for her to arrive!

    2. hello hello and welcome. is there a particular historical dress & period you have in mind for making?

    3. Hi! I like a lot of periods tbh. My favourite is the mid to late 18th century and into the Regency period. I also love the various styles of the Middle Ages, the Tudor period, the bustle era, and the 1930s-50s. Viking clothing is pretty cool and I would love to do some mini scale tablet weaving but I probably need to master regular size tablet weaving first.

Marie is going to have to be a time traveller or something to fit all this in haha.

    4. hello and welcome! hope you enjoy your stay, this is absolutely the most informative and helpful place to be for new collectors <3

oh, historical costuming is so exciting! i don't really have the patience to work that small, but in terms of looks, regency has got to be one of my favorite periods, too, especially in the men's fashion. my husband is super into medieval stuff, too, for renfaire garb (i think 14th-15th century is usually his area of focus?). best of luck to you making things for your dolls!

    5. Welcome! That is cool that you are studying costume design.

    6. Hello!

Regency men's fashion may be on the syllabus next year and I really hope so. It looks so good but so complicated then I'd need a male doll of course ... oh well

Hi, thanks! I'm really excited about it. :)
