My name is Scarlet and I use she/they pronouns. I collected porcelain dolls as a child, and as an adult I found that resin BJDs spark my imagination the same way, but are more customizable. I bought my first BJD about 3 years ago, a Mystic Kids Melody, and am now waiting on a second doll from Charm Doll. Both dolls are 1/6 scale/yosd not because I have a strict size preference but because I've tended to like the look of that size sculpt best and I do like the idea of being able to share clothing, accessories, and wigs between them. I occasionally sew for my dolls (poorly!) and might post pictures at some point when I'm more confident about it. I historically haven't been super active online and have only lurked in forums, but I'm looking to change that. Please let me know if I commit any faux pas. I am excited to be part of this community!
Hi Welcome! I love Mystic Kid's dolls. I have two small 1/6 ones myself, a boys and a girl. I think they are adorable! I also like sewing for my dolls. I look forward to seeing the outfits you make for yours!
{waving from Wimbledon} Hi Scarlet - welcome ot the BJD madness. I still buy the occasional porcelain doll (and rag dolls and wooden dolls) as well as haivg added BJDs into the mix. I foolishly thought that, with the house already full of dolls,I would jsut get one, token BJD to add to the collection... that was in 2004 or 2005 and I now have somewhere over fifty of them ranging from tiny Fairyland RealPuki up to an 80cm Lusion girl Teddy
I swear my collections just grow in their own sometimes! I go so quickly from getting a second of something to fill a gap/in case mine breaks to having shelves full and hunting for specific items/niches
Sounds familiar. It will be interesting to see hivh direction your BJD collecting goes in. I never expected to fall so in love with heads from RML (Real Missing Link - no longer around) that I ended up with a range of their heads, and six of the same sculpt, for example. Teddy
