Hello

Jan 2, 2025

    1. Hiya! I have a couple of dolls I got from Soom and Fairyland awhile back.

I originally bought these BJDs with the intention of getting into face ups and stuff, but I was too afraid to actually do anything with them. I was too worried I’d mess them up for how expensive they were so they sat around in boxes until I rediscovered them the other day.

Since then, I got into painting other toys and miniatures, so now I feel confident enough to finally tackle these guys. Thought it was time to join DOA to check out some resources on where to get started. :)

    2. Over in the workshop section there's a lot of helpful tips for faceups, and there are WIP threads for posting new faceups and getting critique if you are looking for that. I think the most important thing for bjd faceups though is that resin will stain from oil-based paints or pastels and the oils in hairspray can damage it if you use it for sealant. I know a lot of people in hobby spaces use hairspray because it's often easier to get a hold of, but it's not a good thing to use for resin.

    3. Thank you for the tips! I’ll be sure to research and keep away from oil based products. :)

    4. I hope you’ll share your results when you do the faceups! It’s always great to see new artists creations in the hobby!

    5. Thank you! :)

I’m excited to give it a go. I’ll definitely post the results. :D
