Hello everyone! My name is Jay. I'm very new to the BJD community. I've wanted to own one for well over a decade, probably for 15 years now, since I learned about them back in high school. I did some research back then about them but I found out quite a lot of the things I learned have changed quite a bit! I'm so excited to finally be in a position to dive in!
Welcome Jay Yes, this hobby has changed a lot haha. The 2010 and 2020 scene are completely different... but I like the new days too because now we got so many small artists that offer dollie heads. I hope you're able to order your first doll soon!
Hi, @DreamingJay and welcome! So glad to have you here! It's always great to see folks join a forum like DOA before taking the plunge. There's a lot to know about these dolls, and I - I was not so smart, sadly. What do you like? What size are you thinking about? Any doll in particular that has caught your eye? What other hobbies do you have?
Thank you!! It's definitely very different but seeing all the different shops, artists and even seeing some that have stayed the same is incredible! Thank you! The amount of information to know about these dolls is overwhelming but I feel like jumping into any hobby like this will feel that way! I'm very much already already leaning more towards the anime style but I've surprised myself with how much I like some of the more realistic dolls! I'm aiming for a 1/6 to start, as that size will be much easier for me to store as my house is small. I really like TinyFox's Vivienne! I know she's a MJD as opposed to a BJD though. I also really like Gem of Doll's Adelise, the clothes and face up are so beautiful! I have a couple of other hobbies, I collect enamel pins and I'm pretty deep into Lolita fashion (I think I currently have 1 OPs and 7 JSKs)!
