Hello all! I’m new to the hobby in the sense that, although BJDs have been on my radar for many years, I only recently became interested in owning any myself. I blame my blind box figure addiction, because that's how I found out about blind box BJDs. I’ve since bought multiple 1/12s and a couple of 1/6s (all off-topic), which piqued my interest in the “real deal” resin BJDs. Now, I’m inching ever closer to pulling the trigger on one, probably a Supia Lydia, although there are other contenders. When I’ve got the space, time, and energy, I enjoy crafts of various kinds. I look forward to doing my own faceups and making clothes and accessories for my dolls. Unfortunately, I currently live in a dorm, so I don’t have room for a sewing machine, or a good place to spray sealants etc., so my artsy-craftsy goals will have to wait. (That’s not going to stop me from acquiring dolls in the meantime, though ) I don’t have much time for my hobbies anyway (yay law school) so I feel like a bit of a poser saying this, but I do enjoy anime, manga, and video games. I have enjoyed a few danmei (I LOVED Heaven Official’s Blessing) and am absolutely open to recommendations. I also enjoy crochet and knitting. Excited to meet everyone here
Hello and Welcome to the Den! I love supia dolls and Lydia is one of the prettiest. Perhaps there’s a makerspace on your campus where you can use a sewing machine? Do you knit and crotchet for your dolls?
Hi there! Welcome to DOA! Supia doll makes absolutely amazing dolls! I have a few of their sculpts myself and one of my first dolls was a Supia Rosy… Lydia is beautiful too Do you have any doll characters ideas or styling plans?
Thank you! Your post prompted me to look for a makerspace/sewing machines on campus, and... it looks like there's a way for me to borrow/rent a sewing machine? But not with space to use it. Weird. We do have one at home, so perhaps I'll start spending holidays making doll clothes I haven't knit or crocheted anything for my dolls yet because I haven't worked up the courage to attempt clothes or accessories of that scale lol. I might make that my next project once I've completed one of my current ones. Thanks! They really do have amazing sculpts so I'm glad to hear the dolls are good. To be honest, I am not nearly as imaginative as a lot of users here so I don't really have personalities, backstories, etc. in mind for any dolls (yet). The only real ideas I have regarding styling are that I'd probably dress the Lydia in prettier/less practical clothing than I can pull off myself, and at some point, I want a tan doll to put in cutesy Jfashion type clothes (no idea why, it just feels right). I was actually thinking that other doll might have to be a Rosy! But for some reason, I feel like Lydia was meant to be my first.
