Hello, I'm new here, too, to BJD collecting and also to DoA! Congratulations on surviving law school! (Or almost there, if your last term isn't over yet.) Getting your first BJD sounds like an awesome graduation gift!

I just got a Smart Doll, and I love her. I also own a SartoriaJ 45 cm doll, and mostly plan to collect in that size, but after buying three dolls kinda at once, I'm done with buying dolls themselves for a while, lol. Now it's time for clothing, and learning more about sewing my own patterns.

Are you mostly thinking of displaying your dolls, or doing a lot of active posing with them?

 

Welcome! If you want to learn more about bjds, this is definitely the place! I've been here a few years and I'm still finding new things to research. There are sections here for crafting, sewing, wig-making, eye-making - in my experience, people are generous with answering questions and sharing their knowledge.

Displays sound like so much fun, and a perfect way to express creativity! Especially if your time has to be taken up with a lot of studying. Hopefully they'll be gorgeous background that keep you company and make you smile whenever you surface from the study sessions.

I'm definitely looking forward to learning more about all of the subjects that @StellaMarigold mentioned, thank you so much for the summary on that! It's awesome to hang out with other collectors who are as interested in the topic, so I don't overwhelm my friends and family who are kinda politely nodding at my latest collection without really vibing with it personally.
