Hihi! My name is Adder, and I'm an 18 year old student in the U.S. I've finally joined DoA after lurking around the BJD community for a while, lol. I became interested in BJDs originally because of doll customization videos (Dollightful, mostly) which is kind of funny, since I never had an interest in dolls before. I've largely gained more interest in BJDs now that I work so I can actually afford them, since back when I was 15-ish I obviously didn't have like, $300 in spending money. Some more about me is that I love snakes, especially bush vipers and I hope to become a herpetologist one day. In general I just really like the natural world, haha. I like figurines and generally collecting things, like little knick knacks. So far my favorite dolls are probably Set by Story of the Seventh Day, (honestly I love anything by them), and Canary by 2D Doll. I'm happy to meet you all :]!
Welcome, and nice to meet you! I like snakes too I have tons of those flexible toy snakes from when I was a child. What aspect of doll customization interests you the most?
Ooh, what's your favorite snake? And ahh those flexible snake toys.. the wooden ones always used to pinch me like mad lol. I think the part of doll customization (and BJDs in general) that interests me is that sewing/costume aspect! I dress very understated irl (usually just leggings + cardigan + tshirt or just a sweater) but I've always loved extravagant clothing, though I'd never wear it myself, so I never made any costumes and the like because it'd just take up space. Being able to create costumes for my dolls always was a neat idea! (Although I haven't done it yet...)
I like the cute little green grass snakes I'm the same. I don't really like to stand out so I tend to dress plain. But with dolls? Bring on the brocade, ribbons, and fancy metal accents! It's like another way to explore fashion without needing to invest in clothes you might only wear once or never.
Grass snakes are adorable! They're high up in my fav snakes too. And you summed it up better than I could !
